I can provide some general considerations regarding whether Miami would be a good addition to the Big 12 Conference, based on factors that often influence conference realignment decisions:
Geographical Fit: Miami's geographical location may be a consideration. The Big 12 has traditionally been a conference with members in the central United States. Miami's addition could provide the Big 12 with a presence in the Southeast, potentially expanding the conference's footprint.
Athletic Success: Miami's athletic success, particularly in football and basketball, could be an attractive factor for the Big 12. Schools with strong athletic programs can contribute to the overall competitiveness and visibility of a conference.
Media Market and Fan Base: Miami's presence in a large media market could be appealing to the Big 12. The size of a school's fan base and its ability to generate media interest can contribute to the conference's overall financial success.
Recruiting Opportunities: Joining the Big 12 might open up new recruiting opportunities for Miami. Different conferences have different recruiting hotbeds, and a move to the Big 12 could provide access to talent in Texas and other central states.
Financial Considerations: Miami would need to assess the financial implications of such a move. This includes evaluating the revenue distribution model of the Big 12, potential increases in television rights deals, and how it compares to the financial structure of the ACC.
Conference Stability: The stability of the Big 12 and its long-term viability would be crucial factors. Conference realignment often occurs in response to shifts in the college sports landscape, and Miami would want to ensure that the Big 12 offers stability and a promising future.
Academic and Institutional Compatibility: Considerations beyond athletics, such as academic reputation and institutional compatibility, might also play a role in the decision. The culture and values of the Big 12 schools should align with those of Miami.
Travel Considerations: Joining a new conference could impact travel logistics for both athletes and fans. Miami would need to evaluate the feasibility of travel within the Big 12 and its impact on the overall fan experience.

Quite the apparent conundrum: Neither the SEC nor the Big Ten seem to want Florida State or Miami, while Florida State and Miami do not want to join the Big 12.

Those programs can become tent poles in the ACC, much like Clemson a few years ago.

When the time comes, the B1G is coming after FSU and a footprint in Florida. The SEC will fight the B1G's expansion into SEC country "tooth and nail."

Clemson, FSU, Miami, North Carolina. Should join the big12 because it would bring alot interest in TV and they those teams a better chance to win championships. I'm a Texas Tech fan I would love that

UCF barely squeaking into a bowl at 6-6 and blowing a huge lead against Baylor. LMAO, try winning a national championship like Miami has done.

6:23 Bingo! The Big 10 has the top 3 media markets: 1) NYC (Rutgers); 2) LA (USC, UCLA) and 3) Chicago (Big ten HQ). The Big 10 doesn't need the #12 Miami media market. Therefore, the Big 12 and SEC are much better options.

If Clemson, FSU, North Carolina and whoever leave the ACC and get in the Big 10 or SEC but not Miami, what are their options, I'm sure they don't want to get left out like South Florida was. What will PITT, Louisville and Syracuse do, stay and try to rebuild the ACC or go to the Big 12. and have a mini-Big East reunion. If I had said 2 years ago that the PAC 12 would have 2 members in 2023, I would have been visited by men in White Coats. UCF has played recently and is very Familiar with Pitt and Louisville as well as Georgia Tech, so that would help to have closer games and make the Big 12 a stronger #3 conference.

Honestly, if Miami goes to the Big 12 without an SEC or Big Ten invite, they should join the Big 12 on one other condition: get your own football stadium on campus, man!

Not only is the BIG 12 making more than the ACC now, but if FSU, Clemson and Miami joined Big 12 then the Big 12 could get even MORE money per team because those three each have a higher value than the average value of a member of the Big 12. So instead of 31.7 million per team, the number could be 40. More if you count the enhanced playoff money.

a) The ACC is projected to distribute more than the new BIG12 going forward, but not materially more. b) FSU, CLEMSON & MIAMI would have fewer synergies in the new BIG12 and wouldn't have the needed lift.

The ACC is projected to collapse. Those "projections" of revenue don't mean much with a contract like the one they have until 2036. By then it won't be the same league and those projections will mean nothing. A full Big 12-ACC merger with the teams divided into two or three levels each with an east-west division, with Euro style relegation, is the only way I see it can all stay together with payouts at the top level rivalling the SEC-BIG axis. Aside from that I think there is a real chance UNC is misses the last ship out. If the ledge makes you stick with NC St. and the BIG only takes 4 UNC is in danger of not being taken and you will have to go back and delete all of your posts denigrating the Big 12 so as not to put a wrench in the UNC lobbying effort@@tarheel7406

@@earlygenesistherevealedcos1982 a) The BIG12 has already collapsed. b) The ACC's deal is already heavily discounted so is unlikely to change upon any membership changes. c) UNC is the #1 target of the P2. It would stay in a rebuilt ACC rather than downgrade to the new BIG12.

And even so, it is getting interest from ACC schools. The ACC is already down to taking schools the Big 12 passed on. The bottom of the barrell is all that is left. After twelve more years on this terrible contract, the ACC is very likely to be in an even worse position relative to the Big 12, whose four newbies this year need time to grow and adjust to power five, but they have the potential and school size and market size to become really good programs, and already have been at times in the recent past. The newcomers next year are very definitely power five ready, except maybe for Az. St., and they have a huge campus like UCF does. Your best chance is to push for a full merger with three levels and relegation as I suggested. If UNC can stay in the top level in the east that is. If all went for it your division would be something like UNC, Clemson, Miami, FSU, and the best two from: the rest of the old ACC plus WVA, UCF and CINCY. You would have five division games and the rest could be attractive match ups with whoever you want. Play the winner from the West Level One- say TCU. Arizona, Utah, Okla St., Texas Tech,. Kansas, Only way to get money close to what the Big Two offer.. Unless UNC can find a way to get shed of NC ST, it is time to get off your high horse and sell it for the good of your brand @@tarheel7406

@@earlygenesistherevealedcos1982 "The ACC is already down to taking schools the Big 12 passed on." Value is relative. The ACC passed on every new BIG12 school. "After twelve more years on this terrible contract, the ACC is very likely to be in an even worse position relative to the Big 12,...." No. The new BIG12's deal will pay even less and its members will depreciate down from a lower starting value. An ACC that retains any of its Tier 1 flights risks is better than the new BIG12.

I figure Miami joined the AAU for a reason. What other reason would they do that besides joining the B10. I do know the AAU dropped Huskers. I don't know the reason for that. Miam is a small private school, I would rather they go back to just being an Independent. Canes are flying out to join WAZZU and Ore st

You can forget about Miami joining the Big 12. The B1G lusts after a footprint in the state of Florida. When the time comes, the B1G is coming after FSU. Well, it takes "two to tango." That deal is going to require a partner. Miami (AAU) with their Blue-Chip roster is the obvious choice. The UoM will ride FSU's coattails into the B1G.
@Patrick-sg7cm

The B1G also wants North Carolina and there are only two slots available for B1G expansion.
@wally8787
@wally8787 9 месяцев назад
@@Patrick-sg7cm UNC does not have the TV revenue to carry a B1G expansion deal. They could be a candidate to partner with FSU, but my money is on Miami since the Canes average football TV audience exceeds the lowly Tar Heel's audience by 37%. According to Pete Thamel. UNC is #1 on the SEC's list of expansion candidates.
