People need to keep in mind that when you start a skin routine, you need to give it 6 weeks. Your skin will look worse(purge) before it looks better. It's not a fast process but you gotta stick with it and be patient. Alot of people give up after 2 weeks because their skin breaks out but you gotta push past it.

It depends, I don't believe in skin purging unless it is a skin care given as a prescription by a dermatologist and they already mention purging as a side effect. Especially if the purging is not in a form of acne or white/blackheads. I would prefer to stop using the product.

@@AnnaBrown99this was my experience with Tretinoin when prescribed it and started using it. I was warned it would cause acne under the skin to surface, but that after 4 weeks the acne would start to calm down which it did. I have experienced pimples for a year. I began getting better by doing little things like using a clean towel and changing my pillowcase often. I use a mild face wash from litttlextrra riiceberry which is pH balanced. Consistency has worked the most. Now, I have an easy 3-step regimen that I use every day, and I'm slowly recovering. Couple Salicylic Acid with Benzoyl Peroxide, and you have a winner!! Combining these together has cleared my acne completely. I use Salicylic Acid soap in the morning, and Benzoyl Peroxide paste at night. Now I only get ONE pimple every once in awhile, and it goes away far more quickly. This combo has kept new acne from coming in. I also use Frankincense and myrrh soap (at night with the benzoyl peroxide), and aloe vera moisturizer twice a day, and it's been a game changer. After my acne cleared, I was left with very noticeable acne scarring, but the frankincense/myrrh soap and aloe vera moisturizer are slowly but surely fading away the scars! Using cold water only has made it even better in reducing the inflammation and redness in my face. It's all a slow process, but it's well worth it!

Salicylic acid is good but it doesn’t prevent new acne from forming. For oily skin, keep your routine simple, respect your skin and don’t be over aggressive with it. If you can handle the side effects, use Tretinoin and a moisturiser as a buffer like Cerave. And that’s it. Personally, I couldn’t handle the tension headaches from tret, so I’m now using Azelaic acid, which is doing okay. I believe eating lots of fruit and veg and keeping hydrated helps your skin from within. Don’t just rely on products, they’re just part of a bigger picture.

Great question! After treating hundreds of clients with their skin concerns we find exfoliating that often is way too much and strips your skin’s barrier (the acid mantle) Unfortunately some brands still list you can use it daily when it should be personalised for each person but No more than 3 x per week. Because you have been struggling with acne you could also add a retinoid to your routine. I would cut it back to using your salicylic acid 2 x per week but also incorporate a retinoid which you could include on the alternative nights with 1 or 2 recovery night. It could look like this Morning - cleanse, moisturise Night 1 - cleanse x 2, salicylic acid solution, moisturise Night 2 - cleanse x2, retinoid, moisturise Night 3 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night) Night 4 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night) REPEAT

I did see some improvements when I first used Salicylic Acid the problem is that it eventually became less effective and didn't help prevent acne anymore. You are not wasting anyone's time, we love your questions and are here to help :) You won't notice the best results unfortunately with a cleanser with 2% salicylic acid, as cleanser's are not on the skin long enough to penetrate as deep into the skin. You are better off with BHA liquid exfoliant which you leave on the skin. You may experience skin purging and that's when your skin breakouts more than usual due to using active ingredients on the skin. This is a good thing as the product is doing it's job and can last 4-6 weeks. You will start to notice results between 6-12 weeks. However you will need to look at also adding different ingredients. Salicylic acid is the best exfoliating ingredient for Acne, beside retinol. I highly recommend you to watch these 2 videos on Acne Skincare Routines. I’ve been using the pink grapefruit version for the last 5 weeks and it’s completely lifted all of my congestion and blackheads out of my pores. I leave it on the skin for 3-5 minutes and then follow up with a moisturiser of course and that’s all I use. It has blasted all of my congestion/blackheads and has made my skin smooth with no texture and less acne. Skinzone is completely wrong in saying that these cleansers are not effective and don’t “penetrate” the skin because they’re not on the skin long enough that’s false.
@SkinZoneTV
@SkinZoneTV Год назад
@@williamk7035 Hi William, sounds great you are having great results with your pink grapefruit exfoliant. You are leaving it on for 3-5minutes which is perfect. Salicylic acid penetrates deeper into the epidermis as it is oil soluble to work from the inside out but it needs to be on the skin long enough to actually do anything. Cleansers are to balance the skin's PH, remove excess oil, dirt and sweat from the day. When you cleanse you are only leaving the product on the skin for 30seconds at the most, unless you are leaving it on for 2-3minutes - which the common person does not. Compared to a stay on liquid exfoliant, the results from using a cleanser that contains salicylic acid will not be as effective and that is why we recommend a liquid exfoliant that contains salicylic acid over a cleanser.

Salicylic acid did nothing for my level 3-4 cystic acne. It only make my skin drier & flakier. Gycolic acid was more effective, but only to a certain extent. The only thing that helped me was a round of accutane (8 months) & using perscription topical retonal cream for superficial scarring.

Hi my current routine is: Morning - Cleanse + Niacinamide +glucoside solution+ moisturize + sunscreen Night - Salicylic acid + niacinamide + glucoside solution + moisturize My skin type is oily with blackheads, mild acne and mild pigmentation. Even though I'm using these products - my skin gets red and flushy and also appearance of new acne. Is this normal? I also use differin gel for acne as its recommended by my doctor.
@SkinZoneTV
@SkinZoneTV Год назад
When do you use your differin gel? You have an impaired barrier as You are exfoliating too often and you are also using products together that are conflict and should not be used at the same time. Stop using everything and go to thr basics only cleanser and moisturiser/spf Nothing else for 1 month, and your skin will get much better.

Hey there, that is because retinol is also exfoliating. You don’t use both together or on the same day :) Over exfoliating will cause an impaired skin barrier and can either lead to excessive oil flow with breakouts or dry sensitive skin. Retinol is excellent, but you need to be mindful how often you use that and salicylic acid. I would have a break from actives until your skin clears up and then slowly reintroduce xx

I would replace your cleanser - and have a break from your salicylic acid serum. You are also using your serum way too often, should not be used twice a day. Only 2 x per week is plenty.

My advice is to not switch to other products quickly, start off slow introducing new products, otherwise you're going to interrupt your skins process into getting used to the product. Avoid tretinoin unless advised by a dermatologist. Try and use salicylic acid as it is best for acne prone skin, but only use a light layer, if it does irritate you can switch to lactic acid, but that does not penetrate deep into the skin as much as salicylic acid.

But still my pimples haven't gone 🥲 My routine is morning sebonac facewash and then i apply photoban 30 spf lotion. Then at night i use the facewash and then apply the tretinoin cream on the pimples (the days when I'm not using the salicylic acid) . When will the skin get clear ? @Mayankjoshi11 Год назад
@@poojamane8874 actually it is an exfoliating agent which goes deep in skin cells and get the trapped dirt out on skin surface which results in more pimples. it is its way of working. But if you're noticing that the go back rate of pimple is less than the rate by which they showing up , can be say that it is breakout or say a negative reaction of the product which not suits you. You can drop the product 5-6 weeks later if you see no results. I used it for 5 weeks and then i gave it a break bcos i got a large amount of Purging. I'm following a basic routine to avoid face wash products just use the cold milk twice a day in place of face wash. Or sometimes you can use egg white face mask , wild turmeric, besan (a mix of these too). Etc like natural things they will surely help. And most important night routine you can use fresh aloe leaf rub for 2-3 mins on face and gently massage for 2-3 mins then let it rest whole night . Hey Maxine, yes either salicylic acid product will be fine. You will get a better result from a mask or serum as it is left on the skin longer and able to penetrate deeper. So you could purchase both the salicylic acid cleanser and the masque if you wish - just don’t use at the same time. I would suggest using the benzoyl peroxide cleanser and retinoid separately though as it can be irritating to your skin barrier. Hellp, I am using salicylic acid, niacinamide and retinol for 1 month now and my nose and sking is getting peeled. I only see that i have to squeeze the blackheads on my nose every night because they are becoming visible. I do not know when i will see the actual results on pores and is it normal for my face skin to get peeled and i need to sequeze my blackheads now? My routine is: Morning: cleanser + niacinamide + salicylic acid + moisturizer Night: cleanser + niacinamide + retinol.

You are using the retinol and salicylic way to often, they shouldn’t be used on the same day too. It sounds like your skin’s barrier is compromised and you need to work on repairing your skin barrier before you reintroduce actives again

I would use 2% unless a higher strength is prescribed to you
