No, he's right, and it's not just the Americans who say it (look at Top Gear). Land Rovers have always cost far more to maintain and repair than the competition, and are often nowhere near as reliable.
@@betterbeavailable That's one way seeing it and what JUKE meant, but consider this: He might have meant that how annoying it is to have a car that's constantly in need of repairs and eventually, after so many repairs (at the dealer or doing it yourself) you get to learn so much about what's wrong with the car and after a while, when something breaks again, you just know "oh crap, that sound indicates there's problem with this and this thing". Meaning you're near qualified mechanic after certain period of time... if you own this car :D
In the U.K, there are two kinds of people that buy a modern Range Rover. 1. They saw a few leaves on their driveway 2. They're convincing themselves they've "made it"
Yeah, and the stupid screens stop working, so nothing works in the car, and you have to pay another 5 grand to fix them, then you have another electronics failure and so on.
Lets not forget his video on the warranty claims from CarMax. These Range Rovers are gorgeous, but are about as reliable as a stripper who enjoys heroin.
Kylo Ren no it doesn't,but it don't matter what the name is when you can't drive it. That's why when it matters, you see NATO and people in the middle East choose the land cruiser.
its not worth that - just wait until the police auctions and get your local drug dealers confiscated one for $40,000. my local dealer has a McLaren 650s so just waiting for him to get busted and its game on haha
Cost of ownership after 5 years.... $225,000. A small price to keep up with the Kardashians. Also, you forgot to show the S.O.S. button that sends a signal straight to your mechanic.
I give Doug a lot of shit - mostly for his facial expressions; But I subscribe and watch every video because he is brilliant. fucking Linkin Park. amazing.
Doug, I’ve gotta say it, your videos are Not ONLY educational, fun & humorous.., but your persona (self depreciating, good natured, HAPPY Character) truly lifts the quality!! I mean, you never (imho, that is) show any 46% efforts with some bling vehicles and 100% for the lower $$$. ...or vice versa! It’s like, “Hey Guys, here’s a quarter million car, let’s just STEP ON IT & see what it does..???” 😬 Your laughs are REAL & not those stressed-out fake ‘laughs’ we’re forced to endure by...., well, others!! Thank YOU, Doug for all you provide ~ ‘cause THAT’S as close as I’ll EVER GET TO SOMETHING LIKE A NEW RANGE ROVER..!!!🇺🇸
it would be nice to be able to see the entire front interior from a back camera showing the road while you drive the car for us to see the handling of the car and the view as to imagine what it looks like to be in the driver seat ;) the first time i bought a Range Rover Sport i was obsessed with the view and sitting high up seeing the entire road!...thank you for your videos and the helpful info!
I just find it so funny that an Indian company, TATA owns RR/Jaguar after all the shenanigans that the not so great Britain got away with there. I'm not Indian nor British but the irony is so excellent.
Range Rover... yeah... been there, done that... NEVER again. 3 failed transmissions before 45,000 miles when I sold it. The humorous part, the dealership knew it, it was the hardest sell ever, they strongly urged me to buy the aftermarket warranty.
Erin Thorkildsen same happened to hyundai as well. They knew it. So my grandma didnt care and the dealership asked why did they sold their 2011 Tucson, it was freshly brought from 2011 and sold it last 2012. She experienced at simple light problems but when after the dealership brought back the car it experienced multiple engine and transmission problems, so my grandma brought a Toyota Fortuner she had no regrets at all
Vicki Sixx - Good for you. But from my experience, IMPOSSIBLE. I have never had so many issues with any vehicle in two years as with it. They are not engineered to be used.
Sorry these comments are old but I just watched this video, I have this exact car and never had a problem with it in two years of owning. I have a Jaguar f type too and never had a problem with that. I get people on here saying things like Toyota’s are more reliable, they may be but if you are in the market for supercharged range you wouldn’t even contemplate a Toyota
Hi Mr.Doug there is a great feature you forget to mention it in the screen that we have in gulf space ... the passenger can watch a movie during the car running while the driver can't see the movie ... the driver will see other normal driving page on the same screen in same time. Thanks for your lovely reviews .. we are looking for more videos
very true , I live in Australia , I don't want America to turn out like the shit hole Australia is now where its hard to move up the ladder , taxes eat away at your savings to retire comfortably
Lol, you mean a well-functioning society where everyone has health insurance, where people who lose their job don't end up on the street like in the homeless-invested cities of the US and where infrastructure is being well-maintained? Enjoy your land of dreams ;).
Also, I was told these are made for taller people (over six feet), but Doug looks like a giant when he sat in the back. I would love for you to do a list of vehicles tall people can drive comfortably.
Umm dude, that's what I wrote. That's the point I was making about the original post of "Do this same about the laferri". For Christ sake scroll up and read the original comment that I responded to. Geezus. I mean just wow.
bigbullbk im so sorry I literally walked on my cats tsil before writing this So i was quite angry and stupid af Lol Ima buy you a beer if i meet you once
I bought a new Range Rover autobiography back in 2016 for 148k. The car was perfect the first two years, no problems at all. But For some reason it started to have issues beginning of this year and I had to sell it. Love how it drives, hate when it starts “aging”
Range Rover is investing lots on marketing this year, rap songs and now seems like paying Doug to sell their cars. I remeber when Doug was a normal person real opinion on cars not a marketing tool, hopefully im wrong, still entertaining though i only watch car reviews from doug everyone else on YT is trash. Hopefully everything is going well Doug, cheers.
Can someone explain why people would want a luxury SUV over a luxury sedan. As far as comfort, handling, fuel economy, etc the sedan wins hands down. If you want storage a wagon beats SUVs on all categories as well. Car and Driver compared the MB wagon vs. SUV and it wasn't even close how much better than wagon was than the SUV. Why in areas where there's no deep snow or offroading would you buy an offroad vehicle with all of its compromises?
It’s like having a big room and a small room, the big room you have more room, more space to put stuff, but could feel less cozy. While a sedan feels cozy, but can also feel kinda cramped
Holy Moly Land Rovers are the most unreliable cars EVER!!! At least the newer models. My 1999 discovery spent most of it's pathetic life broken down and leaving me stranded. Only the classic models that are mechanically sound are the good ones. I'd take a Range Rover Classic over this any day (for reliability's sake).
Those are some good cases^. To elaborate a little more - I went through 2 engines, 2 transmissions, both my sunroofs were leaking worse than Niagra Falls whenever it rained, and all the door locks stopped working. My Dad has a 1967 Series 2 and a 1995 Range Rover Classic and both of those vehicles were wayyy more capable than my old Disco.
My advice to someone who wants a Rover is to buy a used one. Find the look you want, the features and how well it was maintained, then buy it, and drive it until the wheels fall off. The materials they use and the performance are good enough to outlast most domestic cars and the savings on mine, compared to buying a newer one was about $32,000. And if I had got the one you just drove, it would have been almost $100,000 more. If you got it spend it, but, if you can stand to drive a car someone else drove first, then get a used one. The comfort on long trips alone is worth the extra maintenance. And it will go wherever you tell it to. Brother James
If you mean by the window then look at the left corner, it's just the depth. Although you may remember from the Evoque cabriolet video how badly the fender panels were aligned.
I work on these at the dealer. Huge problem cars, and not cheap to maintain. A 32,000 mile service is about 750 bucks if I dont see anything else wrong. But they sure pay well if your a tech
Too much plastic for that much money though it does look nice but still if I were spending that much I want higher quality materials. I hope that whoever is buying these cars is getting their monies worth that they don't lose their ass in maintenance costs.
MrKillswitch88 Whoever has $200k to spend in a car and does so for a Range Rover is a fucking idiot. Sure, rich, but an idiot. The Bentayga is much better in every aspect (seriously). You get more car for your money for an X5 and I’d even throw in a loaded Prado or Land Cruiser over a Range Rover.
Ok, I did not know that you had an 06, and I have a 13. That explains the extras that are better on the 2018, but the "small look" of the 2013 is more apealing to me then the newer ones, and the older ones are more stylish, but do not have all the tech features. But growing up with all the luxury cars that I could stand to look at, at 58 the Range Rover was still my first choice for a good off road retirement vehicle. To be fair, I have had an '85 Trans am 5.0, '88 Mustang 5.0, still have a 2003 Mercury Maruder 5.7ltr turbo, a '67chevelle Malibu, '78 Corvette, '79 Camero, and others. But, when it comes to offroad performance the Rover is still my first choice. They drive as good as they look!!! Brother James
Paul Illingworth if you really have knowledge about maintaining the car they will last long than you expect regardless of the brand. I am just sick of hearing careless drivers keep saying it is unreliable.
Nice features, too bad it's a range rover and 6 months after you buy it, (if you have it at home and not at the shop) 1/2 of them will not be working. But you can always feel good about the fact that after you pay this off using an 84 month payment plan, you will then be able to sell it for close to $10,000. Wow, what a deal !
lol really? i know you dont own anything nice past 2015 because ive owned a 2015 ford F150 plat and that thing loved the ford dealership, that goes with a lot of new cars
I dont think screens are the issue. Its car manufacturers developing UIs that function like theyre from 2004 on a screen with input lag you'd see on a phone from about the same time.
