His Video Capture skills aren't good, I want him to have some some Drone shots, some nice Intros and outros. That will upgrade his channel to a good level
Doug, I like your videos a lot, but could you start the video off with a turn around of the vehicle? let us see the whole front, rear, side, 3/4 of the car. Or as you talk change up the angle that you are filming bit more, instead of just filming the vehicle from the side, so that we can get a better comprehension of what the vehicle looks like in its entirety. thanks!
tbh I enjoy these types of reviews over really expensive cars cause some of us might own one of these cars and just learnt one of its features that you may have never known
What features all the cars are all the same now...... lol I already know what this stupid man is gonna talk about on his next cars. It might go a little something this. Thiiiiiiis is a *insert car name here* today I’m gonna show you the trunk the lights the engine cover and what the seats look like. Oh guess what, the dash is just like all the other dashes of this car era until the manufacturer decides to come out with the next one. Oh look an ash tray. Well let’s go drive it now
he rarely does that, i hate it. For looking at the car from the outside i always have to check other channels. He should do a walkaround woth every car...
@@titansteelful I have to go looking through the video to find it because I want to see what it actually looks like before watching the rest of the video. And when I do find it it's a damn close-up for 2 seconds. Wtf.
It's actually the same size. Four door configurations now are almost the exact same as 80s-90s two door configurations. Add 1 foot to each front foot of this RAV4, and then suddenly it looks like an explorer sport. It's smaller than you think, and for you to actually refer to this suv as 'huge' is laughable. We're you alive during the 2000s? When the first excursion was considered "mid-sized"? This IS a compact suv and you'd be shocked to see it's barley bigger than the old ones. The ride hight doesn't count, as almost all new cars sit insanely high
I'm surprised over his reaction on ECON on the climate control. It's fairly usual thing, that basically means the A/C compressor is turned off, but all the rest is on = blowing air to the spots you have set and the fan speed remains the same, etc. the AC just is not belt-drien then, means you actually save fuel. Thus, ECON.
My brother was going to get a Camry & I convinced him to get one of these instead. Basically the same thing underneath but the Rav4 gives you so much more room, very important since he has 2 kids. I felt cramped in the back of the Camry we test drove, he agreed & went for the Rav4.
The RAV4 is a dated reliable boring ugle SUV that are bought mainly by sheeple. Mazda has outdone the RAV4 for years. Before Toyota decided to discontinue the 6 cyl I loved the car. Now it's just simply a mom mobile for carrying groceries and kids. Boring and ugly but yes reliable. If you think this car is any more reliable than the Mazda CX-5 then haven't been paying attention.
@@briandickson3496 Wow. That's serious. I was considering getting the hybrid (I believe it is built in Ontario, Canada) but this gives me serious pause. You should pay this comment again and see if others are having the same issue
The natural evolution of an automobile is always to get larger, if the model sells well enough and is produced long enough, i.e. Honda civic, Toyota Tacoma, Camry, RAV4, etc,. But this thing looks ridiculous.
Honestly I'd like to see more "regular" car reviews Doug. Not at the expense of other interesting cars but there's a lot to be learned from what the mainstream manufacturers are expecting people to buy right now. There's some serious insight to be had there.
@@gigieinaudi24 which technically makes the original RAV4 a "subcompact." All these classifications are arbitrary. A small car is a small car and a big car is a big car. Compact now counter-intuitively means "fairly big" car.
47/100 kinda shows you how disconnected reviews are with what people actually need. Other than handling, the RAV4 hits all the responsibilities of a suv perfectly.
You can turn off light in cargo area because with this "feature" you can leave your cargo open for long time (in case camping or smth) and dont drain your battery.
Yeah I didn't think this was such a quirky feature as Doug made it out to be. My 2003 Rav4 also has a rear hatch light that can be turned on/off/auto in the same way as the other interior lights. Makes sense for the reason mentioned here, and also other reasons like not displaying to everyone around me what's in my cargo area whenever I open it.
It's kind of a shame, the more and more they push in that top of that back end, the less utilitarian it gets. The old school Rav4s were so great because of the versatility of them with the amount of stuff you could fit in the boxy back shape (also looking at you Honda Element!)
I thought the coolest Rav4 was the first year they came out with it (1996 i think) and they had a 2-Door version. I urged a cheap bastard friend to buy it. He could've thrown a surf board on it and his dog in it and be bitchin' down the road.
@@rudolphguarnacci197 exactly! I just remember that when you opened the back hatch of those to the side like a regular door and had clear floor to ceiling room to stow stuff with nothing in the way. That's why I drive an Element now, it's like that on steroids. I'm scared for the day I have to replace it though because everything has turned into something like this RAV4 right here.
I currently drive an 07 RAV4 Limited V6. My friends have told me I get more "utility" out of an SUV than anyone else they know. Huge bike rack on the back, two kayak racks on top, which also double as lumber carriers for home projects. I took out the 3rd row seats and put containers in the floor wells that hold a ton of stuff. Then I cut a piece of plywood and covered it in rubber flooring as a rear deck, which allows me to carry even more stuff. And the V6 RAV is insanely powerful for a mid-size crossover. It's fun to pull up next to Porsche Cayennes and blow their doors off. I have no interest in the current RAV4. At 200hp, it's bringing nothing special to the table. And it looks exactly like every other mid-size crossover on the market today. I can't believe Doug said it looks "less generic" than the previous generations. With it's high rear roofline and the rear-mounted space, you could identify a 3rd gen RAV from a mile away. Every mid-size crossover today looks the same. The only thing they did for the 5th gen RAV was square every curve off, trying to make it look more masculine.
@@JackmanWorks I've bought a 1995 T100 pickup new with extended cab, 4WD, 5spd manual transmission and V6 3.4. It now has 217,000 miles, orig clutch all city driving. I had some work done on the frame to keep it going as i live in the northeast. My wife has been trying to getme to get rid of it. Besides having no money i wouldn't let this thing go for anything!!!
The fastest vehicle Toyota has ever offered? What about the Toyota supra? Since we are talking about the fastest Toyota has ever offered or the v6 Toyota Camry
Ethan King he never said it was the fastest they ever offered but that it was the “fastest they offered” at the time. The mid 00’s saw no sporty cars as the last one (Celica) was dropped and the corolla xrs was dropped too around this time in 06. In 07 the rav4 got a 3.5 v6 which was bigger than the 3.3 in the Highlander at the time and the Camry. Those 3mz fed engines only provided 225 hp compared to the 275 in the rav4.
No one: Doug Demiro; This car is an AMAZING bargain, one of the best value for money cars ever made. The amount of tech is unbelievable. But it only gets a 9.
Doug is comparing these to collectible cars that are expected to increase in value and luxury cars that have depreciated 90% in a short period due to being no longer fashionable
Yeah they’re pretty fugly. That and the plastic trim look awful, IMO the outside of a vehicle, everything should be either paint matched, 2-toned, or chrome. No bare plastic it looks like shit. Also I’m not a big fan of roof racks and most people don’t use them besides when they bring home a Christmas tree.
Being able to turn off the lights in the cargo area is useful if you are sitting in the cargo area with the tailgate up watching something and you don't want to worry about the lights draining the battery.
A lot of people saying “why isn’t he showing the front” well let me help you real quick. You have something called the internet. Takes 2 seconds to look it up.
Yeah, Doug seems to be going out of his way to show as little of the car as possible, even though he makes a big point about how much he likes the new styling. And then makes us wait until the very end of the video to even show the grill from the front. A+ trolling, there, Doug. Nice.
The one in this video is a XLE, which I think it really shouldn't have these wheels, they look like they belong on the LE, but Toyota stuck hubcaps on the LE. The XLE Premium and Limited have better looking alloys.
My uncle had a rav 4 from 1996 which had like 200k miles and he gave it to my brother. That thing was such a good and reliable car. Japanese cars are just better than German cars.
Never showed all the sides of the car. I guess Toyota told him which was its best side and not to show any other side. I love Doug but let us see the whole car. The original RAV4 was the best looking one and this one is certainly not good looking.
Just took a test drive of both the gas and hybrid versions of the RAV4. The hybrid felt like I was piloting something out of Star Trek. I like how chunky the front end looks on the gas version. I can see where corners are for parking. Yes it looks tank-ish. This is a serious contender as a replacement for my current car. Loved the physical buttons.
This video won't have as many views as super cars, however, he says nice things about this vehicle, viewers are satisfied for reviewing a regular car (which some of us wanted) and he gets paid from the dealership and makes equal money like he would from the views of a super car. The problem is, I don't find this review honest like I always do with Sofyan and Redline. Not a hater, just pointing out...
Doug is the kind of guy that you could call for help moving a couch. Only to convince you it’ll fit on the roof of your Prius and your route includes a hwy.
I have an XLE premium and the rims are so much nicer then these. They are beautiful! The rims on the XLE (shown in this video) are not the best but they are better than the hubcaps on the LE!
DARELL holyderrrp. damn, dude. Imagine a new 5 series with BBS RS basketweaves. Imagine an '89 535i with Rallye rims off of a 69 Camaro. Bit like wearing Chuck Taylors with pantaloons, frilly shirt and vest or cowboy boots with basketball shorts and jersey.
@-TheManInDboX - & ilovemanunited Just talking about SUVs the Mercedes-AMG GLA45 will take the Sequoia to gapplebees every time, and is in the same price range. And it's not even the fastest SUV on the market.
Amen. And I'm not even religious. Though I don't 4x4s as long as the owner actually uses it as one. I hate the upmarket 'Chelsea tractors' that either do school runs or ferry round drug dealers. I like an honest 4x4, that is used for purpose.
@The Catmother Huh? I literally don't know anyone who thinks like that, I just like big sedans and they're dying because of the popularity of the compact SUV, thus I dislike the compact SUV. Dunno where you're pulling that "real man" BS from.
His Doug score is very general in that it covers all cars. He’ll use the same for this as an AMG black. I’ve always thought this isn’t fair but that’s the way he does it.
@@stashouse617 IDK, I have a 2014 Accord v6 that is probably quicker from a roll, but it would be a toss up at the track. The new Accords run low 14s too.
How about no because the only people that care about compact crossovers are the people that don't care about cars. Life is too short to drive boring cars.
Disagree. I want a vehicle that will have a transmission last more than 100,000 trouble free. Honda's can't promise that. CX 5 ? Nope, not as reliable.
These reviews would be amazing for every single potential buyer of everyday cars. Doug could put salesmen out of business if he did these indepth reviews for every single everyday car. Many people would find these to be the best.
Doug, a lot of the reason for splitting the body side outer panel comes from the fact that they don't have to grow their stamping presses if they split it into two. So there's also savings when it comes to tooling as they can extend the life of current presses
Stephen Hendricks Yeah, I know. I reviewed one of my channel. It’s surprising, but a CRV is WAY bigger than the Mazda, but I drive a Mazda6 and prefer Mazdas.
Thanks Doug. As usual a pleasure watching. I was surprised you didn’t speak about the RAV4‘s traction in front wheel drive and available all wheel drive. I have owned two of the V6 AWD models. Those cars AWD drive systems were nearly state of the art.
What do you expect? I mean Toyota is not known for luxury. Furthermore, it seems most morons are unable to use their necks and require all these bullshit driving aids that probably cost a lot. Toyota is simply making a comprise for more bullshit tech and a less luxury feeling.
@@Lex-Rex I would rather have new safety tech in cars than some fucking luxurious feel I don't wanna get hit by a moron who was to lazy to move his neck. And honestly a good driver knows what's in his blond spot when driving on freeways because a driver I time to time look in my rear view mirror to see who is behind me.
doug is talking like its a big deal that the rav4 comes with a lot of safety equipment as standard but thats pretty normal these days luxury brands are so greedy they dont make them standard on all trims except for like volvo
We just ordered our new Rav4 the other day and it get's delivered next week :) The moment I test drove the Rav4 I was sold, the amount of safety kit you get in even the base model just can't be beat and with a little 1 year old that was at the top of my must-have's. It also ticket the great boot space box which anyone who has a big pram will know is important if you don't want to be playing Tetris every time you go shopping. P.S. That rubber flooring in the boot actually flips and it is carpeted on the other side so you can choose rubber or carpet.
