That door panel keypad is one of my favourite features on our current Escape's. Glad they kept it. Unbelieveably convenient.

It's actually pretty impressive that they fit the battery in the chassis without really affecting the cargo volume or shape. Still has a flat open trunk area.

I really like the new look. When I first saw one I thought it looked like a small Porsche Cayenne. Nice clean look. Looked to see what it was an was surprised to find it was an Escape. I’m happy with my GTI but I’d buy one of those.

When I was in Florida in November 2019, I rented this exact type of car, a titanium hybrid and it was great.

Doug, I’ve noticed you as well as some other reviewer‘s seem to find the pocket on the back of the front passenger seat so perplexing. I’ve always thought the addition of that pocket was so the driver could easily retrieve whatever they needed from there. Passengers don’t need such a convenience as they are not driving. Just a thought. Keep up the great work

I want a new Ford Escape now. Update I test drove one very comfortable nice to drive the only problem is the seating position is too far forward which makes the sunroof useless for the front seat passengers would only be decent if you're very tall

Got the Titanium Hybrid in magnetic 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. Commute to work daily with two longish trips and still haven't filled the tank. Would really have loved the moon roof and heads up but, ah well. Next time.

I just started a lease on one of these and I made sure to watch this video before making my decision. I went from my little tank of a 2004 Volvo S40 (my mommom owned it before me and it never once stranded or shit out on either of us in the 17 years it was lugging us around) to this and I didn’t think any car could ever live up to my Nellie. It doesn’t have the sentimental value my old car had (I picked out the color of it back when I was 4 sitting in my Mommom’s living room) but this is one amazing car. If you’re thinking about buying or leasing a 2020 Escape, do it. It’s an amazingly efficient, reliable, honest car. I just was driving it around in snow the other day and didn’t slide once. I’ll only ever trust cars that Doug approves.

i have a 2012 ford escape limited . Its the last year they made them actual SUV's before they became crossovers and i much prefer the body style of the 2012.

That key card feature is also what i like on my Ford Ecosport. I store my two Gas Card in that key card.

My BMW X1 E84 (2013) has the Auto climate fan speed limiter option! It makes me very happy that all car makers are getting competitive and WE (customers) are getting best product out of it.

I have been at an outdoor winter event as a volunteer and left my 2017 Escape run idle so that the volunteers could sit in it and keep warm. It shut itself down after 20 minutes, and maybe it was 30 minutes.

I remember when this car used to at least resemble an SUV. Now it's just a generic crossover. Add to the fact that the new standard engine on this thing is a three cylinder turbo. The Escape needs to go back to its SUV roots and the upcoming "Bronco Sport" would be a great return to form for this vehicle.

I like my 2020 Ford Escape, it’s the little things that I would change. I usually use eco but if I have to go fast I have to switch the modes which takes longer if they had it the rav4 in a nob it would be better. I definitely like the 12 in driver display. It’s hard if you buy a different car you will have to get used to it. I wish Ford made awd in the phev.

I rented this card I have to really say the adaptive cruise control is almost on par with tesla. It centers you in lane does a pretty good job of auto-steering!

FYI: GM vehicles allow you to set the max auto fan speed level for years now, along with the option of a keypad entry system. Subaru and Jaguar also have some kind of special access mode or activity key too! Its not just a ford thing

Doug almost convinced me when he said the reason for the icon for “auto hold” was that way Ford didn’t have to translate the word into different languages. Well, I have never seen auto manufacturers use any other language than English for foreign markets. Yes, they give options for different languages for the infotainment system but they all use English for the labels unless the cars are for their domestic markets that use a language other than English.

A law should be: “If you get a Ford Escape, you get a free Journey E5C4P3 (Escape) album.”

I have the 2009 version of this, it’s been in the shop for 2 weeks. But I think its just the service center at ford, these are built to last.

For example, this car's more subtle design is way more appealing to the European buyer than a chunkier design that would make the Kuga as we call it seem even bigger. After all this is considered quite a large SUV here, just below the massive (to European standards) Ford Edge, which we got a couple of years ago.

I think they do the pocket seat think because when a driver is by themselves, they would find it difficult to reach directly behind them. But can easily reach behind the passenger seat.

Hey Doug, you talked about the seat cavity providing added leg room in the 2nd row, but failed to notice the sliding 2nd row seats that provides 6 more inches of adjust - first in the Escape platform.. Lol. Big miss fyi or maybe was not told..

It gets more MPG than the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV? Thought that was the SUV with the best MPG

I wish that manufactures would give us 40-20-40 split seats in the back. This 60-40 split sucks. I’m sure it saves some money but when you have child seats it’s nice to be able to fold down just the centre to get longer items in.

I think the lack of "Second" seat pocket behind the driver in modern cars is mostly due to safety issues. Sure older cars had it, but maybe now they do this since it's very difficult and dangerous to reach behind your seat while driving. I guess you could argue they could be useful for the back seat passengers, but I donno. I think it's mostly for safety, rather than cost cutting.

When I look at the first comment, I always think about why I didn't comment that

2020 2.0 AWD Escape bought it in June. Not even 18k mikes and its had 3 recalls and been in the dealership shop every 3 weeks on average for some defect, recall or problem. Do yourself a favour get something else. If your ever in Kansas and want to do an update on this review on a meticulously maintained car. Shes all yours for the day. 👍

The 2009-2012 were by far the best small suvs ever. Wish they still made them!

The previous Generation Ford Escape is also my least favorite car. I would honestly rather have a Pontiac Aztec than a a 2013 to 2019 Ford Escape!

You forgot to mention the sliding rear seats. You might have had more room in the rear seats if you slid it back.
