If you are worried about scratches you can get clear scratch protectors for it specifically built for santos models, prevent the stainless from showing through. However, if you let it wear, it can take on a pretty badass, weathered, been through war pitina.

They have every model in stock and I originally was eyeing up the white dial but this watch is so unique I had to have it.

That’s a great review with some interesting discussion points. Cartier perhaps a brand where you show you have an appreciation for luxury, classic design and history without being a me-too Rolex clone. I have tried on the vanilla white dial and I was taken with the ergonomics of the curvature of case and continuation with the strap hugging the wrist in the style of a Franck Muller. But the white dial and all that mirror polish on case and bracelet put me off, it would micro scratch from day one although it looks great when new. This piece on the rubber not only is more practical but more versatile - being fitting for a Tux or more casual or even sporty clothing. There’s a smart watch chic going on which makes it stand out from the crowd. How’s the accuracy of the movement? I see it has a modest 42 hour PR which isn’t so great these days. Will defiantly check this variant out. As you say, a bad deep scratch may show the silver steel metal beneath but there you go. I guess you’d be careful when wearing such a handsome piece.

When you adjust the rubber strap, what are you supposed to do with the extra slack? Is the watch designed to "fold back" the extra slack, or do you keep it running in the same direction around the wrist? Same question for leather strap.

You mentioned an integrated look like the nautilus or the royal oak...well the obvious alternative was designed by the same man who designed both of those: the lrgendary Gerald Genta. The piece of course being the Bvlgari Octo line.

Bro I like this watch so much its crazy I think I want to get it!!! But I'm nervous about the black getting scratched up. Scratches make me nuts on god!!! That's why I purchased the chronograph 2 tone with the brushed 18k gold. And I love this thing the santos is the sexiest watch I've seen in a while. Great video bro.

What's the price of this watch?

The design of Cartier is undisputed. But in terms of finishing and quality it is still behind others. Take a loupe and inspect the hands and dial. It lacks the QA of a high level watchmaker. This is my only feedback for them. That is why they are at the price they are at. Chopard LUC is better in quality.

Nothing iconic about the royal oak unless you consider saving a member of the holy trinity from the quartz revolution an iconic story. I prefer purpose driven origin stories such as the Santos or the reverso. Those watches birthed the wrist watch replacing the pocket watch. They are true historical landmarks whose designs have stood as much their cherished stories.
