I had a 97 with a 3.0 Vulcan, 5 sp. Looked just like it. I really enjoyed the heck out of it. Great torque but @ 18-20 MPG. Let it go to get a 2.3 2006 ranger 5 sp. Although the later tacomas are a great truck, the Rangers always get my nod.
I knew someone who had an 03 V6 ranger. I drove it a bit and they even loaned it to me while they were on vacation. I really liked it. Later on, I test drove a 4 cylinder ranger and it just wasn't the same Glad yours works for you though!! Great video on it
Ya ive had a few. current truck is the fastest stock ranger ive driven, 4.0v6, manual trans, 2WD, No power anything, AC delete, Efan conversion, SVT lightning style straight pipe, Intake. Pretty efficient tire frier
Really great looking truck. Love the efficiency, haul capacity and gas mileage. I’ve been seeing some for under $3k close to 200k mileage. I need a weekend project truck for cinder blocks, 2x4, mulch and gravel, and the occasional dry wall sheet. 90% of the time it will sit in the driveway.
as long as it will be reliable and get the job at hand done than that's all that matters. this truck is definitely good for that and more. hope you find yourself one
Yep. I did see a super clean S10 today. Good on whoever kept it so nice. Only problem- - it was still an S10. And for sure, you hardly see them anywhere as often as old Rangers. Rangers go and go and go. I've got 2 right now: 94 4 cyl. 5 speed with super clean frame and no rust, c. 126K miles. And a good looking 2003 2.3 16v 5 speed, about 155K miles. Had a 98 stick with the 2.5 that I drove from 120K to 220K. My son bought a 2001 with 234K a week ago, running good. Only mistake I ever made on a Ranger was when I bought a high mileage auto transmission. Bought it to flip- fixed it up looking sharp, and then the tranny went. Don't ever intend to break my stick only rule again!
@@tyranq8609 I have an '04 Fx4, it has the 4.0. Having driven both, if you can get the 4.0 I'd recommend that over the 3.0 - the 3.0 is pretty gutless and anemic when you need some power on-demand for passing or getting onto the highway. The mpg on the 4.0 is a bit rough to be honest, I average around 12-14mpg, but for me the trade off for the increased power is worth it.
I had a 1990 ranger super cab it was 4 wheel drive automatic with a 2.9 engine I bought it new in 1991 and it had 46 miles on it it also had cruise control and air conditioning when I finally traded it in I had 298000 miles never had any problems with it the frame was rusting out I wish that i still had it I owned it for 18years best vehicle that I ever had.
Been looking into 3rd gen rangers, I could see myself getting one of these for a basic first vehicle. I’d prefer automatic, haven’t heard of a ton of problems with these trucks other than easy fixes so to speak. Would love one of these, love the styling and the fact it would give me a bit of truck capability.
What exactly is the best year for the ranger to buy? I plan to get one when I am 16, and I would like to know. I am currently looking at the 2019-2021 models. Are the older models any better or worse?
Bruh get the older ones, the new ones are basically a half ton. The old ones are also still really reliable depending on how it was treated. I have no clue what ford was thinking with the newer generation
Hey, totally random question but since you legit seem like a genuine a car loving dude I wanted to ask for advice on buying a car. Right now I am currently looking at a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 125,000 miles and it’s going for $5,500. Should I go for it what do you think? It is being sold by a dealership. I’d appreciate any words of advice from you
genuine car guy I am. so as far as the car it's a good car. my brother has a 2014 malibu ltz and he hasn't had to do anything to it and has about 90k miles on it. as far as price goes, it is a bit more expensive than you can get them for elsewhere. it's a dealership so they are making money on it. I would suggest doing more research looking for the right car and finding the right one at the right price. dont rush it. wait for the right deal to come through and you will find the right one for you. that's my advice for you
Daily Driver Thank you so much for the advice. I just spoke with the dealership and it turns out they already sold it. I’ll keep looking and hopefully find the perfect one! You earned a subscriber man your awesome!!
@@jamesfarmer5349 you are welcome and I really appreciate the feedback and subscribe. happy to help with any questions you may have. you will find yourself the right one with time. dont rush it!
Daily Driver You know what for being so nice and awesome. And also since I don’t have school because of COVID-19. I want to make you a channel art and profile picture for your RU-vid channel. I have lots of free time on my hands and you’ve been a big help I want to pay you back. If you have an email where we can communicate on what type of design and color wave, information you would like on it that would be great.
@@jamesfarmer5349 I appreciate that a lot. I'd be happy to be in contact with you. you can contact me on my email @ warrenexpertise@gmail.com again I'm happy to help out anyone I can help
I’ve owned 2.5 4.0 OHV an now 3.0 an there reliable the 3.0 OHV an 4.0 OHV are real easy to take apart my 3.0 randomly bent a exhaust valve 157k an it was really easy an simple to take apart an do heads I think best one to get is the 4.0 OHV as they hold up an have some power for towing
@@DaylyDriverDayly awesome! Same here did the suspension feels like new. Got my ranger in CA for $3k a little bit more than other states but worth ever penny, best money I ever spent. Great video. I recommend doing the timing belt thinking of doing it soon.
@@armo_mafioso I can't see how in this age of safety before intelligence that they aloud the jump seats in the back let alone lap belts in the front but I'll take your word for it .
@@robertt9342 The whole reason they quit making this gen Ranger . Was because government regulations gave them a bunch of new safety equipment that wouldn't even fit anymore . So the new ranger is bigger in everything but the box , and weighs around 1,000 pounds more . Also why I'll likely never own anything newer . I prefer my gen 4 Camaro and my 2003 Ranger to any of the new cars anyways .
It just depends as with any vehicle how it's been taken care of over time and some vehicles are just more reliable than others even if they are taken care of. mine is in excellent condition and just did a bunch of maintenance to it to keep it running strong a long time. I love mine
I got a 2006 3.0 with 200000 on it, grease and check your wheel bearings ones a year or every 10000 miles and it probably your abs sensors going bad 2 sensors for 30$ each on EBay usually fix the ABS pump glitch 👍
Lmao, Not for the price! Ranger is about as dependable , but WAAAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper! plus Ranger is very off road capable. Always a Ranger in the woods with Jeeps , tacos, & 4runners. Ford messed up by not making more 4cyl ones 4x4.
