Hope you guys found this video useful! There's definitely enough differences between each car. If you want YOUR Car on the channel email me at: 'hamza_trh@hotmail.com'
As a Golf R owner, I can honestly say that it's the best car for the money, driving wise. When I was younger I used to judge a car on how good it's numbers were (power, torque, 0-60) but nowadays I've realized it's more about how fast you can actually drive it. I own an M4 as well and although it is faster than the golf R, I feel so much more confident driving the golf R fast because it's so planted and controllable in the corners. But great content bro, keep it up!
Thank you bro will do! Yeah it is a very competent car for sure, you can definitely drive it much faster than some more powerful machinery. The only place I'd say it falls down is on outright fun though (like my S3), once you get past the initial stage of being impressed with the grip on tap you kind of just know what to expect. Still fantastic cars though for the money as you say 👍🏼
Farhaan Ahmed exactly when you get to a certain level of fast cars the numbers don't matter it's how fast you can drive it it's only top racing drivers that truly can push car to their limit that notice the difference normal people will get to a certain speed and not go any faster weather they're in a golf r or 911 turbo s, it's really about how it makes you feel and if it's a daily driver how comfortable it is and how easy it is to live with. My dad has a 911 turbo s brilliant car more a weekend thing and a Range Rover for a daily driver but he's thinking about the Ferrari 488 in the next year or so. I can decide between the new rs mountune package or a golf r in white with those wheels and a stage one map after she's run in with a few miles on it both lonely machines. Do the golfs and all vag cars still cut the power when you try to left foot brake? That always fucked me of lol
This is honestly one of the best car reviews I've ever come across. Properly knowledgable and relevant comparisons which are actually useful to ordinary car buyers. So different to all the other carbon copy reviewers on RU-vid. Maybe just throw in a few headline stats comparisons like price, power and speed and also cost of some of the main specs. But overall this is top quality content!
I have owned Golf R only for three months and I love it so very much. It's not only a good performer but very comfortable to drive around the city. A tone of legroom in for the back passengers. Problem is, I get constantly challenged by Subaru STI and Honda type -R owners. Once I lost my temper and got into a drag race with a dressed-up STI. He was taught a lesson not to forget.
As a GTI owner this is a fun video to watch. You are obviously very enthusiastic about driving and VW/Audi. And by the way, Ramadan Mubarak to you (hope I got that right). Nice car and good video. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it pal! Definitely do love VAG group cars and just driving in general so its cool it came across on the video! And yes you got it right, thank you mate! 👍🏼
Love these "real" people reviewers like hamza and living life fast. Recently all dem rich white youts (shmee jww seen through glass etc) and their super Cars are pissing me off recently. All millionaires talking shit. Totally out of touch from reality
Dude, from all the douschebag reviewers we have to suffer through like Shmee, Vehicle Virgins, Doug DeMuro and so on, you're humility and matter of fact way of presenting is a breath of fresh air. Love it! Keep the reviews coming!
Top Gear should take note this is how you report on a car without all the cringing bullshit stupidity they think is so funny. It’s not funny it’s just annoying.
Out of all the reviews I’ve watched. Thank you not only reviewing the car, with your quality opinion (loved this thank you) but thank you for driving the car properly!!! Legend bro.
Love the sound of that engine. Volkswagen hasn't forgotten how to build a true driver's sports car. I use to own many BMW's but their business model changed to a bulkier, less connected to the driver car. These Volkswagens seem more exciting to drive. The R is definitely one of the better cars out there. Good video !!
An accurate description about how they handle corners,i love how you can power through corners in the wet and it just asks for more throttle yet feels so safe, i have lowered mine on Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs which also helps Its a weapon when it comes to tighter mountain type driving and the power upgrade just throws it from corner to corner..
It really does look nice in black . My Son has just bought the Golf R in blue , Always nice to hear how good they are . I would like to compare his Golf R with my car on a back road to see how good they really are . Good video by the way , Keep it up buddy .
I just drove the MK7 GTI and it blew me away, especially on twisty roads. It just gives you confidence to push boundaries. Now I would so love to get my hands on the R. Ramadan Mubarak to you brother!
Top review. 100% correct. i drove the prefacelift s3 before i bought my prefacelift golf r. The only reason i bought the R was because it gives u confidence when on the edge. The ones with DCC make it even more Racey or soft/smooth.
i bought my golf R in 2014 May in australia i test drove both an S3 and Golf R back to back and found the R was lot better value for money and felt faster pulling at low range. Mine came with the leather seat and sunroof and adaptive suspension and adaptive cruze control. i have had the car just over three years now and still love it just as much as day one. its a great drivers car. The only thing i preferred on the S3 was the red brake calipers look better and the seats look better. everything else was better on the R. I could of chosen either car but the $10,000 au dollars extra was not worth it.
Like your vids. Personally I think the difference your experiencing is your Audi is few notches up in build quality. The reason why you find this a better driver car and abit more fun. Is it's stripped down abit. You prob hear more engine noise, feel a few more bumps on the road. Basically just connecting you to the driving experience a little more. I drive a 2012 Skoda Fabia VRS 1.4 tsi. I'll be honest the build quality is pretty poor. But with that I get alot of drama and fun out of that car. I drove a Masserati quattroporto S. Luxurious fast car. But from zero to 100 the fun factor is pretty much the same as what i get from my Rattly VRS
Great video mate, cheers from Australia. The first few seconds made me wish my R Special Edition had a sunroof so I can hear the Akrapovic in all its glory 😎😎 Here in Oz the Golf R came with a pretty good spec, whereas I believe a lot of UK cars were bog standard due to the cheap lease deals offered. Unfortunately VW classed Australia as a hot climate (tell that to folks in Melbourne in winter), so the power was down a little to 286bhp. Nothing a stage 1 remap won't fix.
Good video chap. I have the Golf GTI with high spec like this as agree the basic R does not look so special inside. Have the 3 door though as think that the 3 door adds something to the looks of the golf.
I owned Golf R Estate and s3 saloon, the Golf R was more fun! Both 400+bhp DSG - DNA Tuned. 7 speed in the s3 makes it a 200+mph car though, where the Golf would hit the limiter at 190.
While I can't afford one (yet at least), I am jealous of the fact that you guys in Europe get to have a sunroof. I also would get one in black if I could.
Its not only a glass on the roof!its the best extra option that you can put on a car especially on such car! I have a panoramic roof on my polo!its pity to spend such amount of money and not putting panoramic roof, its a must!
I agree with your comments, the R does handle very well. I have also tested both but I wouldn't buy an R because of its styling, mainly the front bumper but that's personal preference
We are finally getting the rs3 here in the usa I'm so excited!! My gf drives a new s3 but I think I can get her to upgrade haha! My daily is a c63 amg 09 which I love dearly but I have to admit these new audi are something else iv e never experienced I like em
the interior is not as refined as the Golf R and S3 but its MUCH cheaper and you get the same car performance wise just a bit less nice interior but i take that any day of the week if its so much cheaper!
Almost the same spec as mine minus sunroof - but best car I have driven by far..Great looking and drives fantastically well....Will be even better after going Stage 1 which will put it up to 360bhp = )
I was going to get a Golf R but decided not to because everyone and there gran has one, I see at least 3 or 4 a day and it gets boring almost as common as BMW 5 series so i opted for the RS3 8V with Revo Stage 2 and im happy with it. I also get golf r's trying to race me on a regular basis on twisty dual carriage ways but they just see the dust from the back of my car and in some cases wet spray from rainy roads and they also slow down first, so it seems like i have more confidence than the people driving them, however i do really like the Golf R and might still get one as my next car but they are just far too common. Even though i have an RS3 i still don't see as many on the road. Thats my 2 pennies and keep up the good work enjoying the videos. 👍
Great Video! Really becoming a fan! Today, rarely do I see an honest, good start up reviewer that talks against his main car, especially without the influences of the British car media and default trend of car marketing. Really looking forward for seeing more videos, if you ever come to Croatia, please send me a message if you want to talk cars or need help with anything while in Croatia. We have a good group of car guys here in our capital city Zagreb, so content won't be an issue.
Thanks mate! Glad you're enjoying the videos! Yeah so many are afraid to point out the negatives of their own car but its just misleading, I like to think that every car has its strengths and weaknesses and the viewer should be told the truth. And definitely if one day I visit Ill be sure to hit you guys up 👍🏼 Appreciate the support!
How dark is the windscreen tinted? Looks like M3 Crystaline. Mine is 40% and looks freakin' amazing, not to mention I dont have to have sunglasses on, EVER!
Don’t suppose you could do an S4 Avant vs Golf R 7.5 hatch could you with actual practicality size comparisons etc?... I’ve wanted a Golf R for a while and as it comes to purchase time... The second hand market is flooded with launched to death 💀 lease cars... I’ve also got two dogs (one big one small) so the Avant would obviously make more sense but don’t know how different the real world fuel economy would be. I won’t be getting a diesel so it’s either squash the dog in the Golf or pay a bit more for the Avant I guess... Just be nice to see them side by side 👍🏼
Another great video! However I have some constructive advice, When you do these reviews, can you maybe look at practically e.g boot space, leg room etc...and just more everyday usability facts if you catch my drift 😂, but it still does not shy away from a friendly and easy to understand review. Keep it up and you'll be going places! P.S Ramadan Mubarak!
Thanks mate! Ill be honest i deliberately leave out things like practicality as I believe other channels cover that, I'm more about the driving experience/performance, but i guess in my full review videos I might very briefly mention it. This video is more about the handling rather than a review of the whole car. Appreciate the constructive advice though Im always open to it 👍🏼 And thanks!
Videos getting better bro, Golf R looks sick , I do wonder how much of a difference the seats make to the overall feel though in these cars, I agree with you the S3 seats are total rubbish and although the car has a lot of mechanical grip when you go around a bend it sometimes feels like you're going to get thrown out the side window lmao. Don't know why Audi couldn't design more supportive seats whilst retaining the comfort.
Thank you bro, appreciate the continued support! Yeah the seats do make a big difference when pushing on, the S3 seats are lovely for long distance though, its consistent with the 'luxury car' image it has going on I guess. Just if you're chucking the car about you're getting dashed side to side like you said. Often have to hold onto the wheel to support myself lol
I Apr stage1 my golf r put ebach springs hr sway bars and spacers drop an inche I think car take turns I will add Apr down pipe soon and maybe TCU tune and it should be real good than
Thats a good looking steering wheel and interior. Still prefer our S3 interiors though. Can you get a resonator delete kit for the R? Thing sounds really good when you're driving it.
You say that the r handles better than your s3. I know the wheels that this golf r has uses 235 width tires. I know that some s3's have only 225 width tires unless its specced with certain upgraded wheels that also use 235 width tires. What tires are you running on your s3 are they 225 or 235 because i know 10 mm will make a slight difference in handling
You should have gone through the settings and turned off the fake V8 speaker sounds to hear the real sound haha. Great car but they don't sound great stock, at least from in the cabin. My mate has one an he just did an exhaust
Thanks mate, and I don't think theres too much weight difference, didn't feel it much. It was more the suspension setup I noticed, the R absorbs imperfections better at pace.
the only thing i think they could make better is that the car looks very small...they could make it more larger and a bit lower if you know what i mean sry fr the bad english
Great vid, can't wait for my 7.5 R here is Australia in September. What did you call the style of wheels? Apologies, but I couldn't quite get it with your accent. :)
Interesting so you reckon it's a better drivers car than your S3.....just out of interest how do you compare against the Civic Type R bearing in mind the Civic probably much more brutal on the move and designed for cornering and late breaking. You've driven the Civic so would be good to get an honest opinion...
Yeah its a bit better on the limit, if you drive normally i doubt you would be able to tell, but definitely when pushing the R does have that slight edge, its just the way the suspension absorbs bumps etc. Civic Type R was good but i found it to be too hardcore, definitely more communicative than these VAG hatches but I could probably cover ground quicker in the Golf R.
