That Particular 7 series was the most advanced luxury car for it's time. Alot of people bash BMW but never give them praise for how their old cars still match up with brand new cars today. Bmws are one of the only cars that are like that.
I agree with you. While chief of design at Mercedes, one requirement Bruno Sacco’s elements of design was that the car Mercedes designed had to look modern and relevant 10 years after production. Though he never stated it, I think Bangle shared that philosophy.
Like lots of old cars anyone can afford one, but few people can afford to drive one. Reliability, fuel, and repair wise I'm sure the Honda was the right choice.
@@MrDuncl if you fix your own shit you and get good prices on parts it isn't that bad. But if do the exact opposite, you might as well throw your money in the trash can.
@@demonxslayer5 I like when "smart" people like yourself actually try and fix something on a car and fail miserably. Cars nowdays are a lot more complicated than 50 years ago where everyone could pull up wrench and screwdriver and fix something on the car. Changing suspension, brakes and so on yourself sound great until you see prices on tools you will need to do so. Not to mention some major repair including electronics. People like you get parts of toys from Kinder Egg stuck in their nose trying to assemble them, and yet you think you are competent enough to fix something team of dozens if not hundreds of engineers put together.
Buy a cheap cheap Honda, make some money then a few months later sell the old Honda buy a nicer one and just keep trading up to avoid those pesky monthly payments on a car, and avoid spending a fortune just on interest. Shouldn’t be too much of a haste because cheap cars rarely depreciate any money when they reach a certain price
no its not, because they never stay sorted and unless he constantly fills the oil with lucas the things gunna smoke like a mother. no idea how he thought buying a german v12 engine was a good idea.
griffin fahimian 8k for a 6 figure car that puts a lot of cars on the road today to shame with the amount of amenities and luxury it offers, it’s a pretty good deal.
It's crazy how much the 7s have depreciated over the years. You can find really nice, clean, fairly low-mileage examples for under $10K all day long (even $5K for older ones). One of the nicest most premium luxury sedans of the modern era. Meanwhile the 3-series are just skyrocketing in price.
i've had some guy try overtaking me on a road with a no passing law. Red corolla vs 210hp Ford truck, he couldn't pass me. I got it up to 4,500 rpm and the corolla couldn't pass. LMAO it was a nice try but he was cut off on the opposite lane. So he had to get back behind me.
@@RicardoPCGamer I was waiting at a red light and the car behind kept honking thinking it was clear to go and it was not. I took my right and kept behind. Flicking his brights and such. Down a country road it opened to a two lane and was gonna try and cut me off and I floored it and at that point it was a race. A race between his shitty 2008-something Corolla and my 1986 Mercedes 300e. I beat him by quite a bit.
Dream life not gonna lie. Already said it in like 5 videos but that's what I wanna do when I grow up, drive around to shops handing parts for my broken luxury cars
I get that he wants to keep moving cars, but I'm a sucker for the Rolls. I don't like any of those other as much as that phantom, but hey, at the end of the day, it's not my fleet.
David Kaminski The Equus. Get the Equus. I’ve got my Equus up to almost 140k miles now and Jesus Christ this thing still looks and drives like new. The repairs are few and far between. The suspension is the most common issue but you can get an entire replacement air strut for like $300 and the labor is cheap. That’s it. That’s all I’ve had to worry about. I suspect Hoovie got rid of it because it was so unproblematic that it never needed to make an appearance
Emerson Däviß that's the reason he got rid of the Land Cruiser. I think he's addicted to repairs and drama. Probably because you can make videos on it.
Hoovie's neighbours must have a good laugh when they see him come home with a new-to-him yellow Hummer H2 and all the other strange vehicles that he buys.
I'm going to guess unless the neighbors are into car culture, he probably isn't that well liked in his neighborhood. I would love him as neighbor, but homeowners in otherwise uniform looking neighborhoods are the worst. They probably despise that 3 door garage lol..
bdimp My thought exactly. And that exaggerated “Thiiiiss” is what I dislike the most about Doug’s videos. Second is of course how long he keeps waffling until getting to the point.
I have to agree. I was offered an e65 for dirt. I was looking for a different car but I went for a drive anyway for some reason. As I was driving it, I asked how much it was. When he named his price, my brain was trying to figure out why it was so cheap. Probably he read that as doubt and started lowering it even more to a point where I just said yes. I’m still driving it. It’s so crazy luxurious, so easy on the road. My mechanic keeps it humming like a bee, and it’s literally by now the cheapest ride I ever had, if you put out the price and repairs, it’s even cheaper than the 1.6 Golf that used to have the crown. My kids love it, because the rear decking out makes them feel like kings, what with the chair cooling and heating, the ridiculous leg space and the chairs being just as adjustable as the front seats. I upgraded the entertainment and had screens installed, and they never want me to buy a different car. And you know what… Neither may I. :)
It had about 50k miles when I got it, now has 65k. I spent maybe $5k on it in total over the last three years, including tyres and an android nav/entertainment unit replacement of the original head unit. It’s a cheap car so far!
Tyler! I have something that could make your 760 even more luxurious than the phantom. I have an extra electric refrigerator for the rear seats that is fully working. You should put that in your BMW, the install is very easy. I retrofitted one in my own car and it really is the icing on the cake. I got it very cheap and if it's going to you, you can have it for what I paid for it. When it's probably worth the double!
@@THEREAL_GZUS haha I Will put it up on ebay this weekend. I took it out from my car when I bought an even rarer fridge for the car which is an individual compressor cooled version so basically a real refrigerator with coolant and all 😍 this is where my Absolut Vodka and bottle of Gin live 😉 In my E65 I've got one more trick up my sleeve that Tyler is also missing out on, a rear entertainment system so basically a rear idrive system with DVD, TV and so on. But I can't recommend to retrofit this as it's a lot of work and money from what I've heard. Mine came with it already. This system was basically also available for the phantom but slightly dressed up and dual backrest mounted screens instead.
@@Nordmarkproductions If he wanted an in-car rear entertainment system, he could easily get a modern headrest system that puts the iDrive units to shame.
I drove a couple of 745i (the sports version of the 7 Series) and for the time (2002-2009) those cars had about as much luxury as anything else out, plus they were a joy to drive. You do have to factor in that once they hit 80K miles or so the thing basically blows up and you and your mechanic become very familiar with each other.
@@groofromtheup5719 less pistons means less fuel. Hoovie is so ahead of us. I am pretty sure Audi invented the Piston disabling technology system getting influenced by hoovie
1:57 when the cameras angle changes to the close-up, what a gorgeous sky that is behind you, Hoov. In fact the entire color combination of that scene is just amazing quality and color. Such a nice take. Idk if you adjusted stuff in Post to make it seem that way or if that was the natural video recording but it looks amazing. The contrast from your sorry to the RR to your house to the sky, it all just looks wonderful together.
I like how if Tyler became a billionaire he would still make the wizard work on his cars but on an island and exclusively for him. He wouldn’t let his friend who is a huge part of his channel also retire .
So funny you made this video about the 7. I got the 750li and it looks exactly like yours, even with the same metallic grey color. Drives amazing and repairs aren’t too bad if you watch RU-vid videos or read forums. Most repairs are like $100 jobs which bmw dealerships will charge $2000. Gas is more expensive but it’s worth the drive. Comfy as heck, super quiet and the sharp turns are flawless. Feels like a sport car with extreme comfort. I get bashed on all the time because “It’s a 7 series” but it’s truly not expensive if you read forums on repairs. The misfire issue you’re having is caused my a pcv valve cover which you can buy on amazon for $20 and it takes 15 minutes to fix. BMW wanted to replace 8 ignition coils and 8 spark plugs. The “Christmas tree” dash light is usually fixed by replacing the alternator and battery. Costs like $1000 to fix that and almost all electrical problems will be fixed. I also own a 2007 accord that’s got me spending more money at repair shops. And it’s also left me stranded 3 times in 5 years. The 7 series never left me stranded yet *finger crossed*, I’ve owned it for 4 years.
"I need to sell this Rolls-Royce to take a huge loss....to buy more Hoopties (that presumably will lose more)" Okay viewers, we need an intervention..by watching the videos again and clicking ads, so he can...keep us entertained.
8:24 The VW TDIs roll some great coal. I used to have a manual 1997 VW passat 81kW/110hp TDI. Drive it slow at low revs for a couple of days and the exhaust fills with soot. Then....when someone is tailgating you, shift down a gear and floor it. I always chuckled when I looked in the mirror, giant smoke screen right in his face. Next appointment for the tailgater is the car wash.
People who drive old luxury cars and think people are impressed are deluding themselves. Nobody is impressed by something you can buy at a buy here pay here lot.
Agreed.. I have a 2003 with 140k miles on it, it has the rolling stop tranny bug but I have worked around it since the day I bought it... runs like a charm, even gets 25 mpg on the highway. WIth a giant fuel tank you get some serious range.
2:41 I wonder if there’s a way to change the chime in the phantom from the standard BMW chime to the SIGNIFICANTLY more upscale sounding chimes you get in the Wraith, Ghost, and the Dawn.
@@ryanschaff123 VW's own flagship car. It was only produced up to like 2008 in US I think(Europe and asia had it until 2016, and asian market even got a brand new model phideon). It was heavily based on A8 and Bentley flying spur of the time. It also shared a W12 engine with them, which in a VW was insane. As you can pretty much guess it didnt sell as much since noone who paid over 100 grand for a car wanted to share the brand name with neighbour's 20k$ jetta or passat.
Do you happen to know his back story as how he can afford all this junk at his age? I recall him being like a manager at some burger joint, but that does not seem like it would pay the bills to have all these cars and a McMansion . Also, 827k subs does not seem to be enough to afford all this stuff as well.
@@vdochev I think you're right. If I remember, it was called Freddy's Burgers. Pretty sure his dad, and/or parents hooked him up with that, or gave him a nice chunk of change because a 20+ year old usually does not have the credit and capital to buy a franchise.
Tyler, dont ever change, even here in my home country, car youtubers leave the hoopties as soon as they start making some money, you on the other hand "need to sell the phantom to buy and keep more hoopties" this is beautiful, if i could i would have pressed like a thousand times!
I’m driving a 1980 Dodge D150 pickup truck, on disability fo six years now, can’t afford to buy anything for Christmas for the sixth year in a row, and Tyler is wanting to buy more hooptie’s. But that’s why I watch, because I live vicariously through him. By the way, Tyler, when are we gonna get around to some decent landscaping in front of “our” house?
I have a buddy who bought a 2000 I think it was VW Beatle new. He had hand painted pinstripeing done. We called it the Crayolamobile because it smelled like crayons when it was hot outside fitting because he teaches third grade. He kept it in really good condition. He even bought new handrails because the old ones showed wear. He sold it maybe six years ago. Kids were getting too big for it. Sold it to a girl going to the local university. Think he got $1500 for it not sure. The Wizard would have loved it back then. Had some repairs needed due to age that for a non mechanic would be expensive. Lots of plastic parts where you would think metal would be best. But mostly needed to keep it in the best shape.
