Mopar has so much history of Drag racing. The old Hemi super stock cars of the 60s and early 70s were really popular marketing tools in that era. And youth was big into NHRA then. But it certainly has changed.
Let's be honest. If your not going to the drag strip, where else can you use 797 horsepower on the streets. Unless it's all about bragging rights the RedEye is fine just the way it is.

Man you hit it rite on the Nail. I follow NHRA/NMCA and we absolutely needed this Drag Pac! This class is Under Strict rules most will be surprised at! The Copo & Cobra Jet got upgrades this year but the Drag Pac didn’t and stuck with the old platform. Who knows, This Release was probably the reason we didn’t upgrade this year and it showed on the Drag Strip! These cars are driven by Leah Pritchett and Mark Pawuk Professional Drag Racers & Backed by High dollar Professional Teams! We still don’t know what Supercharger they will use on this Mopar per NHRA rules but we will be competitive again! This is a Level of racing that we can only be spectators & for me, This is the new Pro Stock class! Great video Mr H 👍😎

Fact is a good mechanic can build a faster car with tickle trunk parts cheaper then these cost . Purists love gear like this but brand loyalty on that level gets expensive and puts baby in a corner at some point . Comp cam vs a purple shaft ect
I'm turning 19 and I can attest that, that dream car il going for is a McLaren 570s. Only reason is I used to do valet and drove every car imaginable and the 720s and 570s are my favorite.
Agreed they missed the mark this year. I was hoping to see someing different, or at least something of an achievable dream. Perhaps something new in the v6 class, even the return of an srt4 would have been more exciting.
I've seen one Dragpak... EVER. Thankfully it was at the strip, but damn. 20+ years in "the game"... I too would love to have one. Phenomenal drag cars, just unobtainium.
Hey demonology. Big fan of you. I'm 19 and I live in iran. Every car with more than 2litre engine or 150hp is illegal here. But with all that I'm a big mopar guy and dreaming of a 70 roadrunner . And surprisingly I do follow NHRA events
Brother, you are SPOT ON about the demo for this car. My 11 year old son is all about supercars, like Lambo's, and Ferrari's. But he does love Challengers too. His mom has one, and SXT though. As far as how many drag packs they will produce, you gotta remember that these are for professional drivers, like Leah. They aren't for us. That is, because they require a full time staff of mechanics to tweak it and then keep it running. They don't want these on local tracks - they want them on TV! And they only built so few, just to qualify for NHRA. But, it is up to guys like you to make it happen locally. I'd love to see you over here in El Paso brother! :-)
Great Video Brotha I'm Surprised Dodge made such a bad make Only Dragpacks that are only for NHRA and Agree that hardly anybody is going to see them and I definitely don't know anyone that has one
People like you are exactly who they should have racing the DragPak. I hope you end up with one in the future and I agree that Dodge missed a big opportunity.
I think Dodge was at the peak of its game when they use to SRT everything cuz no matter what your price range was you could drive a competitive Mopar. Hopefully one day they'll try to have the fastest 4 cylinder V6 and V8 instead of just having the fastest sedan and street legal car

Demonology you definitely deserve for dodge to give one of those as much as you race, it would be the perfect advertisement for them and I know as good as a racer you are you will destroy a lot of copo's and cobra jets with it.. Come on Dodge give Demonology a drag pak!!!
Big Daddy Don Garlets had the prototype in his museum. He made the drag pack back in 2010, I think. Big Daddy Don Garlets Drag Racing Museum is located in Ocala, Florida. His Dodge Challenger was really fast!

you hit the nail on the head demonology. the reson the younger generation isnt followin NHRA events is because they are interested in street car type events. The only nhra heads up class they have is the factory stock shootout where the dragpack runs but they dont feature that class enough on TV and like you said with only 50 dragpak challengers none of the mopar fathful will ever have the oppertunity to see them much less own one. Back in the the orginal muscle car era the NHRA were focused on what the younger generation wanted to see because the young hot rodders are the whole reason the nhra was created. they need to go back to the original formula of featuring what the kids want to see and that is the cars that they see crusing the saturdaynight hang outs on the track on sunday. that means HEMIs, LSx and LTX, 5.0 carsin heads up classes. This would rebuild the brand loyalty we used to have and start a whole new generation of drivers engine builders crew cheifs on the way to reviving an American unique American sport as well as giving that generation a safer way to race other than the street. If we could get this message to the right people maybe their is hope for this car culture we all enjoy.
I’ve only had a few younger kids make a comment about my car , when I was a kid I new all the muscle cars and they were the shit , I had the redline hot wheels, the only cars kids play with now days are on video games and that’s where they all want super cars. The youth are also convinced electric is the future and they think Tesla is great it’s to bad they have no soul to snatch.

You will find the Drag Pak in the NMCA with the Cobra Jet and Copo . Now unfortunately the younger generation has never been that into the NHRA as far as running in it. Even when I first started over 20 years ago it was the same way. It's a change that happens sometimes over time. If it happens at all. Most people had family or friends that were already tied to the NHRA before hand. It costs a lot of money to run in the NHRA regardless of the class. There's a ton of travel if you want to run for a championship. Just that expense alone isn't cheap. Running in the NMCA/NMRA, R vs W, PDRA, no prep and now TX2K are the classes the young are getting pulled towards. Less events and you can do it on a smaller budget. That said no racing is cheap. So while it's a smaller budget than NHRA. That doesn't mean it's actually a small budget. Specially when running in the top classes.
I completely agree with you on this. Younger guys like me actually do consider owning supercars one day. Cool thing about the Mclarens is that you can get a 570s for roughly the same price as a 911 turbo s (about $190K). It's expensive, but its not a ridiculous hypercar amount. Its attainable. Hell, there are three 570S owners within 20 miles of my place and I live in a typical middle class suburban hood. And that's not even counting used Mclarens. You can get some 2012 12C's for $120K with a warranty.

It would be nice if this was some sort of hint towards something in the future, like maybe a more updated Demon that is basically a tuned down version of this one? I'm thinking of the same logic they did with Hellcat Redeye supposedly being a "tuned down" Demon

@@nhraman76 if you go to a specific event with that race class, yes you would see it, but most grass root racers will not see a drag Pak at there local track.
I'm not sure about other younger guys, but for me i think its seeing non standardized drag races which are not always meant to be fair fights, are what interest me. I like seeing things like pickups racing pony cars, sleepers, muscle, ricers ect all facing against each other. Its also nice when they are the things you occasionally see on the streets and not just purpose made cars. I grew up hearing stories from people who grew up with 60s cars doing illegal street drag races, and its that kind of running just about anything against each other that interests me more than official sports like Nascar or dragster racing, and I absolutely hate watching bracket racing!
My mechanics dad owns a drag pak I think it was the very 1st year of the new body style of challenger all really know is his has a Viper engine in it. Very rarely does it get driven he basically has it under a blanket

I think that’s what the demon original concept was.. to produce a drag pack car for the younger crowd and the streets. I hear what you’re saying but to me this is where the demon came from. Drag packs been around a long time. Ever since the hemi trucks were released early 2000’s. Sure many don’t remember one of the original hemI guys (777) those that do know him for running that rcsb 345 hemi truck and posting the fastest times back in the day but he also raced a pair of drag packs.
SS/AFX with a direct connection Pai t sceme the cars deff aimed at the 80s fan boys of racing it's still a wicked car it hit the market aimed at the same crowd that it was in the late 60s .
You should look up Fitzgerald Kit Trucks in Byrdstown Tn. They have a surplus of drag packs hid away and their huge mopar guys. In not saying their good people, cause I dont think they are at all. But they are rich (Owes the I.R.S. MILLIONS) and have alot of drag packs hid away in a warehouse somewhere between Tn & Ky.
But they were awfully late to the party. Ford brought back the Cobra Jet in 2008 and GM brought back the COPO Camaro just shortly after. Took Dodge quite a while and it wasn't until 2014 I think until Dodge started to get their feet into Factory super Stock drag racing again.
It's marketed to racers. Not test and tuners. I'll see plenty. I was there when Big Daddy Don Garlits competed in his drag pack for the first time. It's a perfect car for the super car showdown.
@@Demonology Not a crazy idea. If you've got a truck and a trailer and given how much drag racing you do. The Demon may be the ULTIMATE streetcar/racer........but it does come with a crap load of compromise to it's street driven manners that that the Drag pack wouldn''t require you to contend with. You could snatch many more souls with this than you'll ever get driving a Demon.
I know for a fact as of 11/16/2019 all 50 cars are not spoken for / if I ever get my hands on one ? My neighbors think I am bad now? They literally have no clue !!!
Here's the honest truth, When I was a kid, I dreamed of cars like this, in books , on car lots, and just the sound of them ! Maclaren,'s 570//720, C6/C7 ZR1, Demon's and ZL1, GT500 are out of most people reach. Video games, and social media has put people behind screens of non interaction . Our only hope is to influence the next generation, take kids for a ride, or to the track, and in 20 years or sooner watch your offspring !
If you think about it, the people who are under 20, that are interested in cars and want to collect cars are in a sort of golden age of car collecting. When the people under 20 are one day in there 40s, 50s, 60s, etc. they are gonna have a abundance of rare cars from the early 21st century ( like the drag pack for example ) to find in old storage buildings, in scrapyards where for example a drag pack could have been previously stripped of the drivetrain, painted, and mistaken for another challenger model, or in estate auctions where the owners relative may not know what the car is worth, so they sell it for $20-$30K depending on the condition, when the car could really be worth 10 times that amount.
