Part Eight we cruise the Aitutaki Lagoon with Paradise Island Lagoon Tours
on the 'Titi ai Tonga'. We swim and snorkel at the incredibly beautiful Akaiami and One Foot Islands.

I remember the beautiful emerald waters and the desolated beaches. This place is heaven on earth.

I was on One Foot Island 30 years ago, Just our boat with two passengers and the captain who caught us a fish that we barbequed. No buildings, no other people. It was the most sublime experience of the entire South Pacific, especially accompanied by the same island music on my Walkman. (remember those?) The legend of the island is that a father and son were fleeing from other warriors who were out to get them. When they got to the island and the father walked in the footsteps of the son as they arrived and so the captors thought that there was only one person hiding on the island. The father sacrificed his life so the son could escape.

we were on Honeymoon island alone for 3-4 hours in 2013 got dropped there while others snorkelled as we had young kids 4 years old, was perfection

Just reading a memoir of sailing the South Pacific, called "Love with a chance of Drowning" I'm at the chapters about the Tuamotus, I can't wait to sail there too!

Alison James LOL the great thing is tourism hasnt exploded in Aitutaki yet, we hope to be back this year or Tahiti our girls are so excited to be going back they love it there
