I've built Ghen as er, reanimation of my Karona Curses deck. Except, I have included Sagas in the deck as well. There is a combo I'm going to use which is Fall of Thran/Phyrexian Scriptures and Ghen. Make sure have Mardu in manarocks. Cast Fall of Thran/Blow all lands up/Sack to Ghen/Cast Phyrexian Scriptures/Place Artifact counter onto Ghen/Blow all non-artifact creatures up/Sack Phyrexian Scriptures/Sack PS to Ghen...get Fall of Thran back... Basically control lands and the board and kill everyone with Curses...
I just built Ghen myself. Had a deck list planned out but made some changes based on what I had around. Revel and riches was what I built around a ton. So I have a lot of board wipes built into the deck. Only 10 creatures 4 of which are instructable. Also put in the walking ballista heliod combo. Because sometimes you just got to win on turn 4 haha.
Revel in Riches is one of those build around cards that Ghen really does seem built for. Especially with access to Smothering Tithe. Seems like it would be a lot of fun!
Great build. I'll definitely be using a few of these for mine. Going curses tribal with a discard subtheme so running megrim, oppression, painful quandry, etc. Also still scouring for good cycling enchantments that we want to pitch to the bin and bring back cheaper!
Oooh, I like that a lot! I tried to steer away from discard punishments since I already had an Aphemia deck and a Nekusar deck that did those sorta things. I really like the use of cycling to get things in the grave though. What are some cool cycling enchantments you've found so far?
@@ChainofCommander I'm still digging on scryfall but things like dismantling wave, Faith of the Devoted, Astral Drift (for etb triggers/bouncing tokens) Akroma's Vengeance, and although it's not cycle, things like Knollspine Invocation to pitch good stuff to the bin while still dealing damage seems good. Unpredictable Cyclone, Archfiend of Ilfnir. And there's a few more. Like I said, it's just a subtheme, and while there's not a massive index of cycle enchantments to choose from, it still seems like it could be value
Really excited to use Ghen, I've been running Matthas Fiend Seeker as a commander for a curse deck for awhile, and I've always felt that it underperformed. Ghen just brings a level of reliability I never had with that deck and makes it so much more enjoyable. Also the politics of being able to take a curse OFF of someone is huge when the person you just splendored isn't the biggest threat anymore. Also Pull From Eternity is a fantastic card for this deck, for those times that someone thinks they've finally gotten rid of something.
It certainly does run the risk of being a dead card in your hand, but there are enough exile effects in commander that it can really be worth it, even just to see the look on your friends face when you bring back something they were sure was gone
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Curse of Opulence makes GOLD tokens and NOT treasure tokens which is V important.. Gold you can just sac for a mana. Treasure you have to TAP and sac.. big diff but gets overlooked a lot..
@@ChainofCommander it's super confusing lol I think wizards just had to nerf gold by making treasure, I think that curse is that last card printed that will make them? Great vid btw. I have a Ghen deck and it's very similar..
@@ChainofCommander Indeed! It's why I built him lol Love the etched foils, they should have that be standard going forward simply bc they don't curl lol I mean plus they are beautiful..
With opalescence and Starfield, you could also look into adding thornbite staff, free untaps for your sacrifices. Also illusionist's bracers to double the effect. Another fun one is Havoc Festival.
