Sorry about the audio in this video. I was on tour and had an unexpected opportunity to tour the Heritage Factory (which is extremely loud inside). All I had with me was a GoPro. Next time I’ll have better equipment!

No need to apologize. Thanks for the killer video but dude you took a tour through a factory with machines. Shit is noisy. No way around it. Cool video. Plus you shot the shit with the employees. We never get that with other factory tours. Cool stuff.

I recently picked up a used ‘99 H535. I was a little skeptical getting such an old guitar and thought it might need lots of work, but it plays like an absolute dream. Only great guitars have that type of longevity. Next time I decide to buy a guitar it will probably be an H-150!

1) In 2011 I bought a 2008 Custom Shop H-555 in Cherry Red with a Bigsby. It has the reddest finish and the most beautiful flame throughout the body. It is one of my main go-to guitars, sharing time with my Epiphone Casino Elite and my Telecasters. Thanks for sharing this video - it is great to see a mid-sized guitar manufacturer stick it to the 'big' dog. Hope all is well with you guys in the crazy times we find ourselves in 2020. 2) I have family that work for Martin in my dad's hometown of Nazareth, PA. I always take a tour with my cousin when I go back there. Someday I will make the trip to Kalamzoo and visit the factory. Just watching this video I can imagine the sweet smell of the wood being turned into fine instruments, just like Martin.

Thanks for sharing this video, I enjoyed it. Its the first video Ive seen since its refurb and whilst I realise something had to be done with the old factory, to me Im really pleased that my 555 and 575 were made in the old factory the old way by the old owners and workers. I may be wrong and in the minority but I feel that the old factory's heritage, character, tools and skills that were built into my guitars make them even more precious to me now. Having such fine instruments made in the old conditions the old way was quite a feat but thats why I feel privileged to own that part of the old heritage and factory history. Great video though.

Hi Walter, sorry it's taken so long to reply, I've been in and out of hospital the past few weeks for an op that caused a few issue's. To be honest Im probably not in the best position to answer you really. I'm from the UK and Heritage guitars are few and far between over here and I'm not up to date with the activities going on over there. The (then) sole UK importer who I was quite friendly with a few years ago (and got my two Heritages from) used to pop over to Parson street pretty regular and he knew the four main guys pretty well though so he used to tell me a few of the stories and news. He got wind of some of the changes that were going to be happening about three years ago and ended up letting the dealership with Heritage go. He was really friendly with the guys there decided to call it a day when Heritage were getting new owners. I've lost touch with him now too and as far as I know, there isn't an importer in the UK now, just the odd Heritage on eBay now and again. I keep looking now and again at the developments of the old factory on the web but there isn't all that much to find that's why I keep a bit of a look out on the forum. I must admit though, I do love the two I have and can't fault them but I have too many other guitars too so keep picking up a different one just to have a change.

After visiting their website i expected handcrafted instruments. Assembly lines and powertools are not not my cup of tea really, but this factory is still more "authentic" than Gibson will ever be. Thanks for sharing!
@JLFulks
@JLFulks 4 года назад
Claudio Trajtemberg hey man you definitely do get handcrafted instruments with Heritage. They do not come off a assembly line. I know the master guitar builder there and several of the workers. It’s as genuine as it gets in 2019. The only machine they use is a plek machine for setting up the frets which is far superior than human hands. They are more Gibson than a Gibson. I love mine!
@historiclp4577
@historiclp4577 4 года назад
Your right Claudio, they are now assembly line....go watch one of the older videos of Heritage guitars.It shows the factory,in around 2010,basically still looking the same as it did in 1959, with the original builders of the 1955-1960 les paul,still alive and working with simple machines.These men then sold the company,in 2016 and the new owners then fired alot of the original craftsmen,and then updated the workshop.you can read about it.They turned it into Gibson!!!!! Yay!!!! State of the art!! Rich dummys as eddie murphy once said

I have a 2 year old Heritage H353 Faded Cherry, bought through Wolfe Guitars in Jupiter, FL. Very nice people and an excellent guitar, though I would love to have the neck on the guitar slimmed down a little bit. The 58 Profile is a baseball bat to beat all baseball neck guitars. Does Heritage do one off's like that?

Lovely guitars. Gibon in 60s similiar. 575 i missed on E bay and Fully carved! But whats gones gone but sick anout it. Tiny neck crack and amazing price. Natural Why they're gluing gibson type wings on headstock. Maybe something left behind Unless parts bit fatter than the parts they get? Shame cant get tiny bit karger neck blocks if glue wings for bade of headstocks needed?

Wow!!!! Thats amazing ...the first video i watched was from around 2014 i think, and the factory looked, “simple” ...like it did in the 1950’s, and reminded me of a photo, i saw of this factory, with les paul himself standing in there holding the first proto type les paul guitar.Then i actually listend to the original builders of the holy grail les pauls speak,and watched them build these Heritage guitars.I couldnt wait to buy one....this was all a few days ago.I now learned that the original builders of the les paul, sold the company,and then the new owners went ahead,and fired the rest of the original”Holy grail builders” as ill call them.Congrats!!!! Heritage!!!! You became just like Gibsons “State of the art factory”!!!!! You suck..lol...im still getting a Heritage les paul style guitar,but it will be from 1986-2014...the factory looks great, nice and modern...🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I've heard some horror stories from a former worker at Heritage, who says the quality changed drastically after 2014. I've known a handful of folks that worked for Gibson, and then Heritage. I don't believe any of the original Gibson workers are still there anymore. I've heard some great first-hand stories from folks who met Carlos Santana, Roy Clark, Peter Frampton, BB King, at the factory.
@cromBumny
@cromBumny Год назад
@Better TV Reception WITH Foil Fedoras! I'd read where there were significant xhanges after 2018 when the original workers retired. I don't have any idea where the 2014 number cones from. Since Heritage and Harmony are now owned by a Singaporean conglomerate. Another point is that the average worker has been at Heritage for 24 years. Gibson can't make that claim, certainly most of those workers were trained by the original 3 who started the company. The original 3 had been at gibson since the 50s. Training by guys who built the original LPs is also something Gibson employees cannot claim.

Heritage has a marketing problem. Only 61 comments in 5 years? Their guitars make Gibby guitars look like Walmart toys. That factory is where all the original zillion dollar Les Pauls were made. They're not hypesters, they make some of the best guitars in the world, but they just don't let people know about the history and what they make now. And they don't prostrate themselves to Slash and others, begging for cheap endorsements and subpar guitars that don't stand up to the hype they sell. GET ONE!
