Thank you for sharing your story, Sandy. It's always hard to lose a parent, no matter what age we are, and it's a sadness we carry no matter how long they've been gone. If you have any of your mom's recipes or dishes that you enjoyed making together, you could always make a book for yourself. It's kind of like a memory album/journal as well as a recipe book. I'm sad that we never got any of my mother-in-law's cookbooks or recipe boxes. (Long story.) She was a fabulous cook and I wish I had some of her recipes to add into this binder for my daughter. Hi Leesa, what a treasure you have in the recipes from your grandma and MIL. Your kids will appreciate their cookbook journals, especially as you made them and they hold many family ties. My daughter and I had a lot of fun in the studio the day we picked out papers! My mom just shared with me a recipe book from her mom's side of the family that I didn't know she had. My grandmother passed away when my mom was 6, so it's a wonderful surprise to find out that a few of her recipes were recorded somewhere. This has been a really fun series. Thanks, Redet. No, we didn't really include any recipes that are specific to children. Most of these are dishes that either I or my kids enjoyed when we were young, so it's kind of like having kid-friendly recipes in the book. Sort of. Maybe? 😂😊

Oh boy, I'm not really sure. My daughter has the journal now. I'm guessing maybe 50 recipes? We had a list of must-have recipes she wanted included and it numbered about that many. It really depends on how many pockets and places for recipes you include in your journal. In retrospect, I would have probably taken out a few more of the original recipe pages and not covered the tabbed cards on both sides. It would have reduced some of the bulk. Additionally, some of the pages I added had recipes on them that we often make which was a nice way to include those particular recipes while adding to the vintage vibe of the book, yet cut down on bulk. I also left open spaces on the divider pages where she could write her own recipes down, again reducing bulk. I would suggest making a list of the recipes you know you want to include and then work from there to decide how many pages and pockets you want. (Plus a little extra room to add more...) Hi Sandy, I use the plain white ones that can be found at Walmart, Office Depot, etc. I've found quite a few at thrift stores lately too. Then I run my ink pad over the sheets of reinforcers. Sometimes I also stamp over the top of the color with a script stamp as a second step. I purchased the reinforcers that look like donuts on Amazon. It's lots of fun to make these in all kinds of colors, and guarantees that the hole reinforcers always match the projects you're adding them to.
