In issue 1492 we take a brief look at the history of Leyland’s Olympian. The Olympian was unveiled at the 1980 Commercial Motor Show, and the first production examples entered service 40 years ago in 1981. To mark the event, we took one of Johnson Bros.’ oldest buses, ECW-bodied B736 GCN, for a trip around Worksop - with bonus footage of some later Northern Counties-bodied examples in the Redfern Travel fleet, complete with original Leyland wheeltrims!
