As a professional in my 30's this is the best purchase I have made. I spend more time in my chair than in my own bed. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
I love this chair so much! For reference, I’m 5’1” and average weight. I wrote the following in reply to another comment on here that I think would be useful to anyone considering the Aeron chair: I had this office chair 10 years ago where I worked at the time and haven’t found a more comfortable chair since (as a former freelancer I’ve worked in dozens of offices from then to now). It’s been 8 years since using this chair, but I loved it so much that I recently Googled office chairs until I found it, and am planning to purchase one for my home setup. I worked 50-60 hour workweeks in the Aeron chair and it stayed comfortable and supportive no matter how many hours I put in. The recline gave the right amount of resistance, the mesh was breathable and easy to clean, I loved how many adjustments can be made to the armrests, and being a petite person, I loved curling up in it. The company probably purchased the Large size and I loved that the seat didn’t only cover my rear-end; I could sit cross-legged and fully settle in for a long day’s work. I’m really looking forward to owning one of these. Hope this helps! It’s top-rated for a reason!
Know this is 11 months back but I’m still going to thank you for the reply. One of the things I was scared about when looking at this kinda chair, was that I was going to spend god knows how much and not be able to sit cross-legged and generally just mess around with how I sit. You know with the chair looking and having the reputation of being so professional I thought it would “force” me to sit in a specific way. Thanks for the info
Bought a Embody 2 yrs ago, and switch to a Aeron 2 month ago...The Aeron is truly fantastic a mazing chair...and way way way better than embody. 20 years of back pain is all gone, and it worth every penny...highly recommended.
I bought an Aeron few months ago when there was a New Year's offer on for 15% off your first purchase, I held off for a long time because of the price but decided to go for it with the 15% off if that sounds like you being held back by the price consider this, the competition pales in comparison to Herman Miller I did months of research and always came back to an aeron as best all around ergonomic chair. You should honestly think of this chair as an investment for your health because if you spend alot of time sat on your arse at a desk at home like I do, do you really want to be sat on an ok chair that will wear out hurt to sit in and you'll end up replacing it multiple times over the next 12 years for more crap chairs that actually end up costing a similar price as a Aeron ? OR do you want the very best for your back to stay comfy for hours on end pain free and mantain a healthy posture that made enough sense for me some considerations since owning an Aeron the plastic edge of seat isn;t a problem it's important to get the right size of chair and adjust the chair properly your body will need a few weeks to adjust to the new chair I got the size C I'm 6"3 big build and after adjusting the height where my feet touch the floor in a natural position and got in the right pressure for the lumbar support where my spine sat naturally straight I had no complaints plus the mesh on the seat and back aren't a negative they keep you cool in hot weather and are very comfort not very firm at all hoped this helped anyone on the fence about buying one. You will not regret it 👍
I have used an Aeron chair at work for years and love it. I injured my back 40 years ago and have crumbling vertebrae, a ruptured disc, a bulging disc, and sciatica. I thought buying an Aeron chair for my home office would be a good choice. I have used it for approximately 3 weeks and the pain in my back is excruciating. It has nothing to do with my posture because, as I said, I have used one at work for years with no problem. Maybe the design changed and the new design is what's hurting my back. A wasted $1250.
@@deccno I used it for 30 days, all day, and could barely sit by the end of each day. I have good posture and the Aeron chair I used in my office before the lockdown caused me no discomfort. I think they must've redesigned it because the one at work is old.
600+ sucks but ....it is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT ! If you sit a couple hrs a day or more at work then just spend the money, it's your health and your life. No, it is not a soft, cushy chair but when you sit all day you will have NO discomfort. It is a chair that you can sit in, get work done and NEVER have any fatigue from sitting and working at a desk or computer. We have these 10 years going at the hospital ...with people working and abusing them, three 8hr shifts a day, 24/7/365 and no probs. He keeps mentioning the warranty...it is POINTLESS . We have a dozen of these various Herman Miller variations, 10 yrs going and never a problem. You're never gona use the warranty.
The most common question that I saw online is the difference between sizes B and C. Maybe a little in depth comparison of both sizes could ne nice and helpful and what to watch out for for different sized people?
FWIW, I am 6 feet 1 inch (185cm), and I found the size B Aeron backrest to be too short. The plastic frame digs into my back. I've just ordered a Size C Aeron.
Its different for every person. Im 5’11 190 lbs, decided yo get the aeron B according the chart, its comfortable but a bit to short on the seat depth by 2 fingers. So now I am getting the C. The best thing about buying from HM is you know its going to last, the warranty is awesome, and so is the return policy.
I had lower back surgery 25 years ago and no problems since because I am very careful and always use ergonomic seats. I had never sat in an Aeron when I ordered it. I ordered it with all options including the Posturefit SL back support. The chair seemed to be the highest quality materials and workmanship of any desk complex desk chair I have ever seen (probably to protect Herman Miller's interests because the warranty and return policy terms are so generous). However, I returned the chair because the Posturefit SL mechanism was so painful. The upper pad concentrates pressure against a tiny area in the center of your back . The result is that area alone supports almost all of your weight that is against the back of the chair. Even on the lowest setting (which also reduces the support from the lower pad) it was still painful to me after less than 15 minutes. Otherwise, the chair would be wonderful if it had a more conventional lumbar support that was made as a thick pad across all or most of the back. I wish I had ordered the chair with their standard back support (which is also cheaper). But I'm not sure about it because photos make it appear that while it is wider than the Posturefit pads, it is not even near full width of chair. I also don't know if the padding of the standard back support is thicker than that of the Posturfit pads (which I think are too thinly padded).
I like the $80-150 per year cost estimate which is an interesting way to look at things. I've been looking to upgrade my office chair (currently using Markus from IKEA) which I've used for the past 4 years, the upgrade is just because I want to and not out of necessity, and feel like this chair could last another 2-3 years. Ultimately,, still a better deal than Herman Miller. Dang the price gap is so far though super keen to understand why it's so good
im 5'9'', 215lb. a size C aeron remastered fully loaded fits me PERFECTLY, largely due in part to me being the most average height possible. everything feels like it was designed to fit my body. i notice that most of the complaints tend to be from very tall people. they also tend to recommend the embody more often from what i've seen. so if you're of a very average height, the aeron will probably be a good buy. if you are very tall, it might be hit or miss. i have an atlas headrest on the way, which will make my experience complete (you don't need it for work purposes, but i use my aeron for everything, so i recline a lot)
I tried both and I'm 6'2". I've gone for a size C Aeron as the Embody didn't feel like it was absorbing me, rather it was pushing me in position with no give. I likened it to sleeping on a hard mattress which my body doesn't cope with. The Aeron also did well to support the majority of my upper back and the Posturefit SL isn't pushing directly towards my tailbone but more into the lumbar of my spine. If you're tall, size C on the Aeron is definitely the way to go. But do go and try both models as it's all to your taste.
@@The_Ballo No. I like being strong and muscular. What possible reason could I have to lose weight other than having to cook less often to maintain it?
All this chair needs is a Seat can be moved forward 2-3 inches and a headrest. I am getting mixed messages regarding the Atlas Headrest. One say it won't void the warranty my sales rep says it does. Then it would be more than perfect. Wonder what is holding them back. No problem in saving up for a chair of that quality.
To our knowledge, it shouldn't void the warranty. However, we are not Herman Miller and would not have the final say. The Atlas doesn't require you to screw into the frame, so it shouldn't harm the chair -GK
Herman Miller would have no idea if you used an Atlas Headrest or not since it just grips onto the top of the frame. So if Herman Miller did claim that your warranty was voided because of the Headrest they'd have no way to prove it. Never heard of that happening before.
I am pretty sure it is illegal to void the warranty for using a 3rd party headrest (at least in the US). At best they could refuse to repair any damage caused by the headrest itself. But on the Aeron gaming edition page they have this under the FAQ. "WHY DOESN’T THE CHAIR HAVE A HEADREST? CAN I ADD ONE? A headrest is a personal preference. Adding one that’s well designed could help you stay comfortable as you play." So if they are endorsing adding a headrest on their official website, I think you are fine.
I inherited one of these at work. I always wanted one, but have to say I'm not thrilled with it. It's the largest size (our co. bought them large to accomodate all sizes). It's probably too big for me. The mesh seat makes my butt cold. Good review! Enjoyed it.
I’ve got to disagree. I had this office chair 10 years ago where I worked at the time and haven’t found a more comfortable chair since (as a former freelancer I’ve been to dozens of offices from then to now). I loved it so much that I recently Googled office chairs until I found it, and am wanting to purchase one for my home setup. well, you cleary lovegarbage... tryied one of these, and this 1400€ piece of **** is not as confortable as my secretlabs chair. You are paying for the designer brand.
This chair is amazing. I can sit for 10+ hours and not feel uncomfortable. As another commenter said, this is the best purchase I've made. Yes it's expensive, but it is going to last a LONG time and you have to use it every day. It's 100000% worth it.
I was considering invest in this chair. But thanks for the cons you point out. I’m very skinny so feel the hardness of the frame, firm mesh and no head rest definitely don’t sound convincing to me.
The aeron 2 for me is less comfortable than aeron. Because it shortens the seat so my weights are all on my hip and top-back of my thighs. This feeling is bad and becomes worse when you sit on it longer than 20 minutes...
The price of one of these things should be number one regarding Cons are concerned. It's no problem for people like Richie Rich over here. He probably has four in his home including in the toilet
IMO. From a comfort perspective, NO. From a durability perspective, YES. Thing is built like a tank. As a 240lb dude that works from home, I think I will get my money's worth. But for your average user, its probably overkill. There are cheaper more comfortable chairs available.
I bought a headrest attachment for the aeron. Honestly I could do without it because it just feels like it’s in the way. I adjust it back and then I lean my head back and it just feels like it’s in the way of my head movement and eventually I moved it all the way back out of my heads way. It’s kind of annoying to have
Also I found that a headrest would only be comfortable to use if you wanted to lean back and watch a movie or take a nap on it. When you’re in vertical position, it’s pretty annoying to have
@@enchanterdee8592 yeah the one on Amazon- Atlas Activated Suspension Headrest for Herman Miller Remastered Aeron Chair - Ergonomically Optimized Accessory for Improved Posture (Remastered Graphite)
If it weren’t for the warranty/policy I would say there is no value in this chair. Its very comfortable but not worth the price. I feel like that price includes a marketing up charge that isn’t worth it.
I think I got the fake version from Amazon. When I try to adjust the arms height, it doesn't move as smooth as in this video. Also, the forward/backward tilting doesn't even work on mine.
Yes. If u value U, your neck & back, it's worth it. U can spend $1600 on a phone U use for 2 or 3 yrs. It's worth it. If asked as a teen out if Uni, I'd said no. But it was provided to me to work & take home later. Lasted 22+ yrs of a certain kid hadn't tore it. ): that's $81/year or nearly $6/mo. So now having to buy my own, yes. It's worth $1800 & I get the polished finish in mineral I alway wanted. & I'll retire w/ this 1. (:
Have u guys noticed how many used aerons there are on the market. Notice how cheap they are also when used? Notice how many comments of people complaining about the aeron? I bought this chair used luckily like “many” others. This chair sucks and is way over designed. Is it worth it? No its not, you just need a seat length adjustment, seat tilt, back tilt, and recline. Then add a curved seat pan to disperse the weight evenly, with a nice multilayered foam. Most of these companies add a quick cheap foam, with no design to the seat pan. Ive sat in chairs that were in an asian foodcourt (hong kong) that were fully wooden but the had a curved seating, and they were comfortable to sit on. Surprised after all the things you mentioned and how there were things that your coworkers mentioned that were not comfortable, that you would still recommend this?
NOPE. (IMHO) I got mine at half off and it's still debatable. I would have regretted the purchase if at full price. Painful pressure points is my biggest gripe.
@@obidamnkenobi if you sit in the chair in the perfect proper position then it's not too bad. But if you like to slouch and move around in the chair then it's not so great. $400 is a decent price, given the draw backs.
not that great. had mine for a year and looking for a cushiony chair now. its just too firm and my hips hurt come monday morning after sitting in it all weekend and as im typing this my feet are feeling a little numb from my blood circulation being cut off. it did fix my back issues but caused other problems.
Excercise has helped alleviate most the problems. I still want a cushiony chair to switch back and forth with. Looking at Steel case and Haworth brands for another chair
I don't understand how this is better than a gaming chair for 1/5th of the price, mine has great lumbar support, arm rests with the same maneuverability, except mine has a head rest too which is great for my spine. So how is this expensive chair better?
I would say everything except for maybe the seat. I think both seats are uncomfortable so I could see people going either way on that. But the Aeron is superior in everything else. It is a much better built chair and looks much nicer. It has a better adjustment package and better back support. It also has a better warranty. It may not be worth triple the price for some people but the value is certainly there for others. -RB
its good but 1k+ for an office chair? yea nah im good, even if it was the perfect chair for me its waaaay overpriced in my opinion. Especially with such a firm wire mesh cushion that feels like ice on cold days with how airy it is and those annoying edges that keep you from moving to an edge of your chair. Id pay 500 max.
No not worth it. I have two home, aeron is one of them, none of them work. I had a chat with my chiro as well. This chair doesnt support enough for the back. All the chair in the market include this one only support the lower back. However, the back support need to go much higher to the mid back. Otherwise it is useless. (At least for my case it is useless)
I've tried a lot of chairs. Herman Miller is more to show off in my opinion. You walk into someone's office, see a herman miller...you know this guy takes his craft serious. For health reasons, I found Secretlab Titan chairs get rid of back issues. If your upper back / neck still hurts with a secretlab chair, try shedding some weight or investigating if you might have TMJ. edit- My first ever chair was when I was in first year uni. Got a DX racer because it looked cool lol. DESTROYED my lower back. I couldn't even bend over to put on my socks that's how bad it got. Definitely don't take your chair selection lightly it's as important as the tech on your desk.
Secretlab lmao...bro all the gaming chairs are extremely cheap and overrated. They are targeted for young people. Once you hit your mid 30s and start having some back issue, you would actually need a high-quality ergonomic chair.
Yeh, Expensive== GOOD for some ppl But this chair is 1 of the most widely used chairs in offices like Google, fb So the price is worth it businesses don't do that expensive == good thing
