This is the story of Albert Göring, the younger brother of Hitler's right-hand man, Hermann, who worked tirelessly to right his brother's wrongs. How can he fight against the shadow of the most dangerous dictator in our history?
An excellent video and I so wish history in our American schools could have been so well presented. This video should be considered to be shown in all schools! Thanks for sharing and the very best of luck!

Anybody else starting to notice that there seems to be more and more of the same exact videos, but they are being posted by others and they just change the title? This is a perfect example, I've found the same video, but from multiple sources.
I check comments while watching I usually get a good indication if it's worth watching it in full or move Along your correct repacking and reeditng to get views unfortunately that is similar to what governments and religious institutions do
He was not a Field Marshal. The correct title was Reich Marshal, a unique military rank given only to Goring. It made him the highest ranking military man in all of Germany. That is why his baton is so big and different from field marshals. This baton can be seen at the US Military Academy at West Point.
Kevin, thank you for correcting those ignorant nitwits, iv been studying ww2 for 45 years, and it's unbelievable how many inaccurate documentaries out there, in the 1970s my next-door neighbor was a ww2 German pow in Texas and he give me first accounts of the German pow camps in usa ,he told me that inside the pows they still respected the higher rankings from the German military
Great documentary though the narration has some very odd pronunciation . However it was not just the US flying over Germany later in the war as mentioned here - whilst they bombed by day - it might be argued the more dangerous part - the British continued bombing by night. Unfortunately there is an increasing tendency in many war documentaries to completely ignore, or not refer at all, to the continued fighting by the British forces. This was something that incensed my late uncle. He took part in D day, as a Royal Naval sailor. He often recounted how ‘ we had to go in and pull the Yanks off the beach after they landed on the wrong one and it was b…y dangerous - but you never hear anyone mention that now’. The British fought for 6 years - mainly alone especially in the early days - and didn’t just stop once the US came into the war. Having said that there is no doubt that US support helped turn the tide, and there are many groups here in the UK that have dedicated war monuments to US service personnel, and hold remembrance services for them annually. For example the South West Airfields Heritage Trust remembers the US personnel at Uppottery ( featured in the tv series and book Band of Brothers) and Dunkeswell, just as there is a beautiful part of a cemetery at Newbury in Berkshire that commemorates Canadian soldiers buried there, and again an annual service of remembrance is held there too. It should also be remembered that the US charged the UK for lend lease and for decades the British have being having to repay that. (Nor can British citizens even apply for a Green card - something most USA folks find hard to believe!) Nevertheless this is a fascinating documentary about a kaleidoscope of a man. Well done to all concerned.
We all know that if Monty had been in charge all Europe would be speaking German to this day. The Brits were good fighters but British leadership on the ground was too arrogant and cautious. God Bless America
"The Splendid and the Vile" by Erik Larson focuses on the years the British were heroically fighting Hitler alone, under Churchill, without the help of the American isolationists (like today's MAGA) until Pearl Harbour.
I'm an American and fully recgonize the Brits contribution VITAL contribution to the war and the fact they fought along after June of 1940 into 1942. For sure your Uncle's and everyone's sacrifice in the UK is appreciated by the majority of the world.
Goering knew Germany could not win what would be another World War. He like the status quo and the good life. He did try to avoid the war. Once Germany won the Battle of France, he got carried away. Strategically he did not focus on the secret development of the jet engine or the Atomic Bomb. Germany initially led in nuclear science. Also, no exit strategy to Argentina or Spain. Should have kept Italy extralegal as a back up.
Goring at the end: "At least we lived 12 good years." Shameful, evil legacy of one who stole the lives and belongings of his victims- men, women, and children. A life without value or meaning because of his choices. Yet, one unknown victim who gave his life for the love of another has lived a life of of value and meaning.
4:45, his mom was spot on, because he became both. With everything he did and accomplished in his life, it always makes me think: imagine what he could have done, and been, if he'd applied himself for good? 😕
Before Göring was nominated "Reichsmarschall", he was "Generalfeldmarschall" since 1936. He remained suprme commander of the "Luftwaffe", even when he failed against UK, USA and USSR! After he was dismissed on 27th April 1945 by Hitler, "Gerenalfeldmarschall" Ritter voin Greim was his successor.
Very interesting video but I have a question : at 3:05 what is the meaning of the arrow on the arm ? Really what is this military decoration ? Thank you.
Truly captivating narration and indeed a very rare collection of footage. It is a fascinating and equally tragic story of a war hero turning into a criminal. While this video emphasises that he was second in power to Hitler, but in reality, it was Himmler who was the real second in command(I might be wrong). Nazi party slowly ascended the power ladder in Germany, and with passing time, they became more of a gang of criminals than a group of ultra nationalists. The night of long knives is one of darkest chapter of Nazi era. Tyranny of majority is something against which all citizens must maintain vigil because it will eventually give way to a certain dictatorship. Looking forward to more such quality content from this channel.
Just to be clear he did not say not guilty, he said :"not guilty in the sense of the indictment" which can be linked to the overall statement that he didnt agree on not on single points.
Winners write history, winners publish history, winners own history, and most of us know only what the winners want us to know about that so-called good war.
I think the author censored some macabre images, because otherwise he should have included the video in the "only for those over of 18 year" section, or in the absence of it, RU-vid would block and delete the entire video with severe penalties for the uploader!
His mother: "he will become either an influential man or a big-time criminal"". Well, he became both. It seems that for some people, not even a single high-profile destiny is enough, this guy wanted 2.
I've never seen an edited documentary before? You wouldn't think they would edit in a documentary, especially on a statue in front of Karen Hall? lol It seems professionally produced, but yet it feels like they were really trying to take out a lot of things from history
