I think he could have made a deal with Doc for use of the tunnel bore to get diamonds only for making fireworks.

If live gives you diamonds, you got to make diamonade.

He sells the Ultra Summer Edition Fireworks for 6 diamonds per stack... but it costs 43 diamonds to make a stack. A true businessman

@AnoneemusNoenamebut they do though. All the time. Just not in everyday conversations because people don’t use normal soundboards in everyday conversations. And remembering the horn on the fly immediately when it would be applicable is difficult.

@AnoneemusNoename AFAIK, most of the horns are used on stream. You may want to check it out live or check out some of the VODs of the hermits you watch.

Could also be cool to have separate barrels for each hermit, so people can find specific horns easier

​@AnoneemusNoename idk which hermits you watch or how often, but I hear the horns being used on a regular basis? If you watch the streams, theyre basically spammed on a regular basis. But if you're just trying to explain the plans for a base build or collabing on a project with friends, you probably won't be spamming a soundboard throughout the conversation. If you want to hear the horns more, I highly recommend watching your favorite hermits streams.

Tunnel boring must be boring…

I saw. Seems that version is slower than this version since you can only activate it from one side. Could be an interesting test though.

@@cubfanit could also be faster though as you get more vision across the entire tunnel bore and thus can choose to do more pumps at a time instead of only 2 if needed. Doc also flies when using the tunnel bore which would be much faster than walking back

​@@cubfanDoing 2 or 3 "pumps" between dashes makes up for the fact that every dash has to start and end from the same side of the bore. Also it may not have a pump button on both ends like the previous design, but it is faster to build initially and needs fewer resources to get going.

The single side activation both is and isn't slow. It is if you're mining anything. But, the new version allows you to survey if you found any diamonds, without having to move to the other side.

Good idea. You'd need to partition the caves if they are extra large, but the smaller caves wouldn't be too difficult with sponges

Yes. Didn't show it but actually stopped mining at one point and got sponges to help clear water in the aquifer. Was still a big time loss but faster than manually filling the whole section with blocks.

I think using speed potions would result in similar result. Slightly faster for both the tunnel bore and caving methods but ultimately difference between them would be the same.

Speed 2 gives roughly a 40% boost to movement speed, sprit jumping gives about 30% (if i remember correctly), and it looks like cub does sprint jumping as his main way to traverse caves. Would the time it takes and the inventory slots lost to potions be worth an extra 10% of movement speed? However it probably would help with the 1 by 1 mining but that is also capped by mine speed

I've seen some people use an elytra with the tunnel bore too. I guess if that helps depends on how fast you can spot diamonds.

Did you use elytra? Cub is just walking for some reason so that's probably why his rates are so low

He used diamonds for the floor of his base/bunker in ConCorp, not to mention the very tall ancient debris wall he had in one room of his period. This isn’t new for him.

On top of the frequently skipped nights, that rooftop testing setup is also dealing with having the shop's big firework blast as a noisy backdrop. It's a high chance of visual interference for anything that gets tested there. Makes it hard to focus on what's being tested, I think. I'd propose maybe an underground bunker. Go down deep enough to create a test chamber with a tall enough ceiling that even the duration 3 rockets will go off before hitting the ceiling. And I'd also propose that the chamber should be built to simulate both a night sky and a day sky. Half and half. One half of the the chamber is built with dark colors and the other half is built with light colors. So you can test in both conditions by facing one way or the other. It'd be a better version of that little black box he built for testing... Was that one at the factory? Not at the shop?

he is using fortune but considering just how long he's mining for, it shouldn't matter in the end, HOWEVER the tunnel bore method will always end up with some diamond ores being destroyed by the bore resulting in you having spare diamonds that are difficult to add up and if you silk touch a diamond ore you don't get exp for mending meaning inventory management is a mess as you either need exp bottles on you or mulitple pickaxes

There is no way to make a bore in Java without duping TNT.
