Was just about to type the same comment. Scar already wanted the honey and cub offered more stuff, it's like manipulating trades in games against CPU players lol. But I think cub made some hyper efficient setup for crafting super fancy rockets and just wants the ability to mass produce fancy rockets to actually be put to good use. Otherwise he set all that up for a one time thing lol
24:25 - "I'll play ROD OF GREED! This allows me to draw TWO CARDS from my deck!" I really enjoy that Yu-Gi-Oh is like the go-to idiom for players of Hermitcraft TCG... Also good job Cub winning your first tournament match.
Tango doesn't usually use the word skadoodle in the way that it's typically used as in to move to another place, rather he uses it like one would use the word thingamajig: as in I'm going to add a skadoodler to that whatchamacallit
So enjoyable, how Cub made Scar happy. "Cub I was killed by colours!" will be on my mind for a while now and made me laugh hard enough to wake up my cats.
When I first heard the song during Beef's video, I assumed it must have been sung by Joe. I had no idea Cub had such talents as well! P.S. Also enjoyed the spyglass cinematography.
yes, mono decks are a a bit too strong in this game in general, and definitely if you can't play double items. Mono decks can also easily play around leads 90% of the time by just delaying when they play the next hermit or put the last item on on AFK hermit. But hybrid decks can get really punished by leads.
Rough first draw Dr Wells. Maybe for future tournies add a “losers bracket” that puts all first round losses into what essentially is a second chance bracket, the winner of which gets to battle the 4 seed of the semis before semis start. We used to do this in debate tournies to add some enjoyment to the tournies instead of having a bunch of one and dines.
Awesome episode, insane editing, a lot of cuts but it felt really good, also i loved the deck building segment, the way you kept your cards organized all this time is really paying off that's awesome
I wasn’t very excited for TCG when I first heard about it but now I’m hooked. I play with a buddy of mine online constantly. Congrats on the first win!
32:52: “This comes from the Hypno Master, Honey.” 33:02: “Honey the Hypno Master is what I meant to say.” Cub, I think you meant _“Hypno the Honey Master.”_
That was so funny Cub said the Hypno Master Honey and then tries to say it right and still get it wrong and say Honey the Hypno master and did not even notice he did LOL. Also i knew it right when Scar said i want to fly through them i said he is going to get killed by the fireworks and what do you know he did that is Scar for you LOL
I'm gonna be honest, and I've never thought I'd say this, but I might be looking more forward to this than I did the NCAA tournament, maybe. However, I am pulling for the cubfan. Let's Go!
Most people will probably run one water bucket and one milk bucket, if they even run them at all. So I think it's better to play two lava buckets or two poison potions, rather than one of each.
Congrats on the win! Can't wait to see who you vs next - and suave on that firework exchange. So glad those are going to be really appreciated. Those fireworks are so pretty
I think that the idea of limiting the number of rares and ultra-rares is good for balance, but Beef missed the fact that if someone has lots of cards, they can make the deck specifically to counter each opponent, as you did. In Magic, tournaments allow a sideboard, you can change up to 1/4 of your deck between matches and the cards you can put in are pre determined. I think he should have implemented something like that for the tournament, this way you can try to cover some weaknesses, but you still have to keep about the same concept.
What an absolute banger to start the video off with xD Ooo, the tournament begins! Exciting! Best of 1 means consistency in a deck is the most important, so I like running a monodeck here. Congratulations on your victory! Have you considered swapping the Netherite Sword for another TNT? 20 self-damage isn't worth an Ultra Rare slot. A clock would be good, as that combo's with TFC's "draw more." But don't underestimate commons like the Flint and Steel (played perfectly, it's a draw three) and TNT (+60dmg).
I just noticed that Joe is wearing a warden head during the TCG bracket reveal, but I've seen that fiasco from a couple perspectives now, so it makes sense. It's just a perk/consequence of having Docm77 on your server lol
Extra Flee was interesting in the last round - I think it actually favored Cub, since it was essentially drawing out a fresh hermit each round. (probably not the most useful against a mono-deck).
I agree, in that situation it wasn’t the most helpful. It’s a shame his first tango went out, bc I’ve seen the damage a pair of rare tangos can dish out, especially if they’ve got armor on both
Good game. The poison at 22:15 did nothing, X was on 180 and with the adventage miner > redstone you took him out with two attacs no matter the poison. Maybe it has detered from switching to an other hermit, but that would have cost him a turn. If I understand it correct, the weakness redstone > miner was not applied, but it did not change the result.
with the Limits on Rares and deck size I think mono-type with maybe some Neutral abilities will be big. Leads, Lack of Efficiency cards due to rare restriction, and a lack of draw will make keeping your resources on hermits that can utilize them Very Important. It felt like Wels drew Redstone with his Rod draws when his only character on the board was a farm type and it burned him.
Awesome Episode! GG on the win of the first round! I was kind of rooting for Wels though, because he is the underdog and he just got a liking to the game. But I think it was a good match, you had good luck with your draws and he had a bit less luck, but he drew a lot so maybe he could have had more damage cards or something. Looking forward to you playing in round two and curious to see who wins the championship :) Also did you sell those honey blocks by offering Scar fireworks? Not sure if that is good business logic, but at least he was happy :)
GG Cub! You got so lucky with your draws but you made a fantastic counter deck to Wels so it wasn't pure luck at all. It was really nice to watch a respectful match though I wonder if the further you get in the brackets the more trash talk might surface. :) When I first heard the TCG tune in Jevin's match with Etho, I immediately loved it. But who wouldn't, Jackson 5 is pure bubblegum pop. My only criticism is that instead of elongating the me at the end (Baby, you and me-ee), I think it would have been a little better to leave it it was originally (Baby, you and me, now!, i.e. you're challenging a hermit to a match right now), y'know? The rockets at the end looked like confetti sprinkles - it's perfect for Scarland! If only there was a cat design, like the creeper face. xD Can't wait to see you play Doc or Impulse next! With it only being one game, it's really easy for there to be an "upset" at any bracket level so I'm looking forward to every tournament match!
Oh and ... Did you just trade Scar to give him more rockets in exchange for giving him the honey blocks?! ... So what do you get out of it besides the satisfaction of killing him with rockets? 🤣 Ah well, Hermits helping Hermits, right?
