the carpet trick for the doors won’t stop the villager from pathfinding out, so if you don’t want the villager constantly standing by the door I would recommend putting a berry bush under the carpet, that should stop them from pathfinding.

The barn looks nice and all, but generally speaking, you'd probably want something like that at the *top* of a hill, not at the bottom. Any rain water would go flooding directly into that stable area and could pose a nightmare for keeping horses safe.

Hi beef - if you'd like to know something about horse fields and such for help with decorating; Horse fields from my experience are usually mostly worn around the outdoor feeding/water area and exit/entry to the field. The horses will also make paths usually along the border of the enclosure/field and they'll make paths on our larger field that are "the most efficient ones" to get straight across the field from the entry, usually in a diagonal. You'll clearly see with the level of grass where horses are the least, such as just outside the edges of the fence and sometimes along their paths. We have gravel around the stable as mud/dirt would be inconvenient due to the amount of foot traffic. Hay/wood shavings in their individual stable boxes as like the soft cover for them to rest. Also an important note is that you have no real-life-logical way to get hay bales on top of the stable storage (if that's something you worry about) - a pulley made with a grindstone and things would maybe help? Alternatively making a large barn door and allowing for an imaginary traktor with imaginary pallet of hay 😅
@Stormageddon2015

Definitely tell Bdubs, he’ll love what you’re doing for the horses. I thought the side where you added the ladder was going to be a crane to get hay bales up, that’s how grandpa did it! But nice looking barn

hey beef, from a detail standpoint a lot of irl horse pens are more heavily trodden right along the fence line going around most of the pen (they walk along the line a vast majority of the time) and they usually take one common line to get from their stalls to the fence line.

I really love the barn but I can't unsee the windows as eyes >.> Accidental face strikes again! For the compost area you could potentially use stone bricks, and mix in chiselled stone bricks for detail instead of the trapdoors. It loses a tiny bit of depth but I think the colours will match well and stone makes more sense than wood as you pointed out.

May I make a suggestion, probably not but I will anyways. With the stable dividers, the walls. You could have it double walled where there is an intersection and/or when it meets a block, then on the double wall put a fence post and gate design connecting the other walls. So there are still windows but now the stables are a little more room-like and divided. If it helps... maybe, maybe not.

Maybe instead of back walls some supports beems (?) would work nicely? They wouldn't divide the room and still give an open feeling without it being too drafty, I think? Perhaps fences to give variation to the grid of stone walls? They could also give more support for the structure and tie it together a bit more? The barn looks very nice, I very much enjoy the overhangs and compost
