It's a real story abt real human behavior. True character comes out when the circumstance is right. Not everyone wants to be famous. Life is stranger than Fiction.
I am in this movie. I was an extra in the scene with Gena Davis. One of the people in line to say that we fit the shoe lost by Dustin on the plane. Paid $50 and lunch. It was fun.
Dustin Hoffman in another of his great roles. I don't mind saying that he had me in tears a couple of times by playing such a credible role. Thank you for the post.
This is a really good story with comedy, suspense, and three great stars. Some of the plot's weakest points are saved by the endearing performances of the peerless Dustin Hoffman, Geena Davis, and Andy Garcia, plus a strong supporting cast. It's fun seeing Chevy Chase in a role where he doesn't have to try too hard. He's good as the cynical and very smart news producer. Missed this one when it was released in the 90s. Glad I caught it here!
One of my favorite movies of all time, but so underrated.I Having seen this movie for a dozen of time, I couldn't hold but my eyes got wet at the moment when Gale found out the truth from the ledge of the hotel that Bernie was the real hero who actually saved her life from the plane. So touching to my heart.
Drama, comedy and some suspense, plus some true message about media and perceptions. A very clever unusual story and very well directed. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you.
Off the record . . . . Thank you for saving my life........................... You are welcome................... To me that is the climax of the movie, the impact those words made to both of them and all of us
I haven't seen this movie in a long time, but I remember the ending of that scene, when she says thank you for saving my life, and he says you're welcome, that's like the best satisfaction from both characters acknowledging the truth at the end of the movie. 👍
It's just a brilliant scene. Really gets you right in the feels. Dustin Hoffman is freaking magnificent in this oft-overlooked film. What incredible acting.
I dunno why, but this film made me really emotional... I guess the guy being compelled to do something without wanting to, and then society turning his back on him...
" Heeey, i don't take 'credit'.... i'm a cash kinda guy" 😂 Dustin H. at his best ! Loved all the acting, lot of familiar faces, even Michael Talbott broke the surface for a short while screaming people's ears off lol. Really great movie, don't think i've seen it before. Thank you for uploading.
@@76vjcool Because of that common problem, I check comments before I watch a movie. In this case, I saw no warnings about the sound problem. As a courtesy for others, I provided the comment.
My Boss used to say, I don't want to hear your B.S. excuses every morning from the people who call out. I'm handing out a list of excuses so you can just call and say number 6 or number 3.
The end discussion with his son cracks me up. Paraphrased, he says life is all bullshit and the key is to pick the layer of bullshit that you’re comfortable with and stay with that. What a quirky, quirky protagonist and who better to play it than Dustin Hoffman? On a personal note about the story itself, I’m glad he quietly admitted the truth to the reporter. Just for the record, off the record, that is.
I'm guessing of course, but I'd bet that the reason the sound cuts out at ~56:00 is because Etta James' hit "At Last" started playing . . . or some other copyrighted classic . . . just a guess . .
This is a proper movie, with a story that illustrates complex themes. Not like the drivel Hollywood's been putting out for the last 20 years. A script like this also provides great opportunities for actors to give great performances. Aquaman and all the other crap like it, doesn't do that. Disney and Warners missed a great opportunity with all their comic book movies. The Marvel comics especially contained philosophical themes and psychologically potent characters. But these weren't explored by Disney and Warners in their painfully shallow, content-free movies. It's as if for the past 20 years Hollywood has been deliberately trying to destroy the movies and dumb everyone down. It ain't gonna work. The Hollywood studios will go bankrupt and be replaced by new distributors that will succeed by financing and releasing proper movies again.
What a movie andnahafff!!!!! Superb - Hoffman & Andy Garcia - and the ending is unbelievable - will makya weep but all for a good reason. Muah Twam Hero. RECOMENDED WATCH ❤❤❤❤❤❤
