Who? Whites? Well Woken Nbless he did not murder Whites he murdered estimated 80,000 to 300,000 Ugandans which are Black Africans. He murdered Women, Children, Old, any and all UGUNDANS. He decimated the economy which was strong and prosperous when he came to power, however, he destroyed this leaving it 3rd world. Are you referring to the deaths of the innocents as the individuals that "Stood up" to him? Because Whites was not who he butchered. Furthermore, it took Israeli forces (not even a full battalion) less then 2hours to overtake and liberate their people....Now can you imagine what would have happened if he ticked of a Super power? Today Uganda is a 3rd world Economy dependent on Global charities for survival. It's natural wealth is more exploited and vulnerable then pre-colony days and why? Because this fat brutal dictator slithered from Uganda taking astronomical wealth which belonged to the nation and hid in Saudi Arabia under the protection of the house of Saudi. This is your hero? because my idea of a hero, leader, and individual who loves there people is none of the aforementioned. To rise above you must choose those with vision, character, courage, and knowledge of global diplomacy to act on behalf of their people. This animal was the UK henchman----he did terrible things to the people that UK soldiers would not....
@@khalidahmed8050 how's that excuse been working for you? Your accountable for your choices and if Uganda views this beast a hero it says much on how and why you continue in 3rd world conditions. He never butchered whites he butchered Black Ugandans. He never liberated Uganda from the "whites" the UK had already been moving out on their own slowly they gave Independence back. He never spent a dime on the infrastructure instead investing money for his own private profit, however, to stupid to even do that right. He BORROWED from China without knowledge their money had no economic value. Your hero reflects your conditions and this has nothing to do with "white man" but continued crutch excuses
@edwardwangombe2358 And do you think others are angels because all their stay in office is squandered in bribing and arm twisting their way into a second term?
Amin hated political rivals like most African leaders including "museveni " bt Amin was very patriotic, social services like hospitals never lacked medicine, roads were much better, coffee prices were higher, education was better ,Uganda's debt burden was low, corruption never existed. We as Ugandan we accept he had his failures bt he is the best president we have ever had. Merry his soul rest in peace
The most patriotic leader UGANDA ever had and will ever have, he is being talked of negatively simply because he lacked that PROPAGANDA machinery but he will forever be OUR HERO
Am Ugandan and idi Amin was the best president Uganda has ever had,he was loved and missed,he was patriotic and loved his country.he did more for the country in the eight years he was president than the almost 40 years regime we have now.
LOL, Africa has plenty of presidents for life, look at the state of Africa, history is full of Kings and Queens and dictators etc, they have all proven to be failed methods at governing people
Idi Amin was set up. He had the interest of his people at heart, had zero tolerance for colonialism, and wanted to build a Uganda for Ugandans. However, the Muzungus needed him out of the way inorder to gain access to the country's natural resources. This image of him being a heartless dictator sounds similar to Gaddafi's story. The Muzungus wanted these 2 great leaders out of the picture inorder to take over their countries.
Regardless of Idi Amin reign , good or bad, I affirm Ugandese are very resilient; they keep going. today Uganda remains one of the peaceful country in Africa. kudos to you all. love from Somalia!
You know what. Africans needs to tell there own story instead of listening to his story (history) of Africans. They can't tell your story better than you.🇯🇲
lee long That would require that Ugandans fish become literate... That dictator was himself known to only be semi-literate at best. It’s not uncommon in Africa, thus his fathering an estimated 60 children, and it’s a safe assumption that most of his children are no more literate than he was.
FRANCE 24 Please can you make a documentary about the apartheid rule imposed on Ugandans by the British and Indians between the late 1880s to 1960s. How many millions were killed during that time and who is responsible? Uganda's history is NOT defined by the 8years Amin was in power. The British killed millions of Ugandans during the 60years they lived here. we need a documentary on that, if not please take away your propaganda because every country has its own challenges but you never talk about the good things he build for Ugandans.
After Amin was removed from power, there it was reported two million Ugandans died in the struggle for power. I wonder if Amin was saving the people from the people who came after him.
Yes they died in luwero triangle its not alie ,just that the number mentioned is but it was appromiximately half a milion or a milion killed by a reigning government.
Credit to the man who chased Amin out of town- Mwalimu Julius Nyerere of Tanzania 🇹🇿! He was an Africanist who worked hard to free last colonial holdings in Africa. Alas to fight Amin forces. Kudos to Obote and five successive Presidents before Dictator General Museveni.
@@lwasampijjajonathan3206 he was heavily involved in rooting out Ian Smith, aided logistical support to MK in home country, as well strong efforts free Southwest Africa.
The greatest and the most visionary and not corrupt Black leader Please check out Asia people iniquities in Africa it is virtually difficult to see black employees of any Asia owned businesses in any western country
This is simple, in the (Kampala)South he is a hero, in the North he is a villain. Because he handed out candies in the South and gave us bullets in the North. But then he later gave the South some too.
This guy is the reason why we are in this situation. He killed the political class we had whatever he did or wish was done as if it was for family whereby he could do what pleases him.
He was such an hero who never stole money from his country or being selfish of loving to take every good thing by him self.like the current regime.he sdmired every good thing to be in uganda and thats why even upto now we still use roads, shelter and hospitals he built.thanks to this hero.we need a statue of him for rememberance.During his time money had value but now.its worse.
What Idi Amin did to South Asians was bad but at least he did not keep them as slaves, servants, prisoners, captives, hostages, or eliminate them in a genocide even though he had the power to do so if he chose. Not saying he is a saint far from it but he could have been way worse.
Idi Amin had an eye on one of Indian businessman's daughter.( Brown girls are more feminine and sexier ). Apparently daughter and her father had no option than to leave Kampala to Dar e Salam and then to bombay on the night of Idi amins' proposal. This created a sense of insult of Idi Amin who as a revenge expelled Asians out of Uganda....
A lot of people don’t understand why Amin turned tough after one year in office. Well, Amin suddenly realized that the wealth, economy and privilege of the country was in the camp of the Asian minority. Amin did not want to rule like puppet to this white and Asian community and wanted to elevate the long deprived Africans from top country participation. Amin did not want the kind of dominance on resources by ethnic minorities like it is in Zimbabwe, Namibia and Southern Africa.
Idi sold a dream to the Ugandans. Sadly Uganda is still suffering due to his reign. He claimed that he wanted the best for Uganda but it was really for himself and those who followed him. if you disagreed you were killed. he had one of his wives murdered and chopped up and then sown up again for all to see. His opponents were tortured to death. He caused a lot of political tension in East Africa. Many Ugandans fled to Kenya and Tanzania. Two of my teachers in school were Ugandan. Being Asian and living in Kenya, there was always the fear of what happened in Uganda could easily happen to us. Luckily we had more sensible leadership in Kenya.
This is currently going on in the current regime. Even a lot worse. All the infrastructure, from the airport to main hospitals were put in place by Amin and Obote’s regimes at the time. Now all rundown to the point when power cuts happen. Some hospitals don’t have enough fuel for generators, backup generators don’t work and on many occasions some hospital lack medicine and equipment. The current leadership only has the following to show for: single lane roads and peace. The minimal basics in development and shit loads of corruption among the dictator’s family and friends.
Brilliants such as your type, is good and a blessing to Africa. Africa will be saved if more like you surge and rule because knowledge is what we need.
Hypocrites, we are tired of you telling us how to think, who to love or hate. How many good leaders did you guys helped corrupted? That's what we should be talking about.
I don't know why I never hear anyone mention that the expelt Asians by Amin were compensated first and Amin was not the initiator of Asian community but just fulfilled the resolution of then East African community. Jomo kenyatta Nyerere and Obote had this vision but failed to bring it to light and they were happy for the move by Amin and non ever criticised this act because they wanted it like yesterday.
There was no compensation. they left empty handed, not a penny to their names. It was pure and simple theft. A case of why are they so successful (by the way not all were rich or successful) I want it all but won't work for it so I will steal it from them and because Idi had the authority he did and messed up the economy. The Asians had to start from scratch with whatever they had.
@Jesse Brennan There was a white man plant in that invasion somewhere, I guarantee it. And remember it was Julius Nyerere who was aligned with the West, not Amin.
HE IS A HERO not Adictator He will always be the best president we hv ever had as ugandans I wish u can come back our country would be far from wea it is right now a rotten government we hv now rip our hero for God and my country 🇺🇬we will always miss u
Really? because he brutally butchered an estimated 80,000 to 300,000 Ugandans this is your definition of Loving your people? He tortured them and held public executions of men, women, children, old....he decimated the economy then he slithered out of the country to live in luxury in Saudi Arabia and you define this as an individual who loved his people? Reality check Salha is Uganda is a 3rd world economy dependent on Global charity and it's wealth more exploited now then ever because of this monster.
How I wish he was still president of Uganda up-to date. Everything said was propaganda but Amin was indeed the best leader any country would wish to have.
Migrate to India in large numbers as Black Africans if you ever could. Try to acquire some of their land and form a large African community or town and let's see how you will fair.
The reason why there was employment during the regime is because the population was way smaller but it doesn't indicate that the economy was healthy actually people were mostly working in the civil service and the private sector was almost non existent. I think it's very foolish to think that the economy in Amin's regime was better and a person who thinks like that is not analytical which makes him/her vulnerable to opposition's selfish agenda hence being used for that matter.
