I was always so bad in these kind of games, could never play them for a very long time. It is cool when in this game your hero gets super strong though.
These games severely punished tactical and strategical errors, which does make sense, but Heroes 4 was infamously imbalanced in most areas and sessions were either unfairly luck based or the enemy barely did anything the whole game...
Heroes IV AI really is a label. Everyone knows what you are talking about! I have never found a mod or a hack that truly improved it. As I understand, the game would need to be reverse engineered because it is inherently flawed. All the hacks and mods over the years (like Equilibris) say they tried, but the results are negligible. At least they DO improve some of the completely baffling gameplay or balance choices. Old story is old. We know the game was more than rushed.
Yes, that is that as the other reply mentions. In this case, the priestess had 100% magic resistance. Armageddon is a high level Chaos fire spell that targets every unit on the field, including yours and the caster. However, magic or fire immunity block it so you can do fun stuff like here if you have the time and luck to build your mage hero for it. Spam Armageddon to win. Heroes IV is an infamously broken game shipped in basically beta state. Sessions are either extremely hard to almost impossible or the AI is braindead. There is a lot of BS you can do though and there are playstyles that are strictly OP and those that are totally worthless to do. Alas.
