My favourite town was and still is Tower, favourite hero is Neela. So much, that I even made a family tree for the Tower gene heroes when I was a child. They are the Alla family: the father is Fafner, his wife is Iona. Their children are Solmyr, Neela and Aine, their cousin is Daremyth. Neela's old wizard master is Astar. Ahh those memories... Christmas breaks eating leftovers and playing the Titan's winter scenario... I'm glad I could share this with you.
@@karazimsabour7899: yes, it's not coincidental, Romero lifted this part directly from it and structured the tower theme around it. Romero is an excellent composer, no doubt, but even he lifts a part from the absolute best of history like Brahms when he sees fit. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I love this music even if it's Bit quality isn't quite up for 2017 the execution, velocity play, dynamic use of every single Instruments and Instrumental choice and quality was way ahead of it's time. I wish Paul Romero would recreate it with todays standard choice of professional recording.
I now realised my dream is to live in this town for at least one year. To meet the golumns, stare at gargoyles and feel the wonderful atmosphere this song brings up
I just noticed that 5/7 of the creatures in this town start with G. Gremlin, Gargoyle, Golem, Genie, Giant. I have too much time on my hands that I notice these things XP
Ah, my fav "good" town in homm3 :) Very excellent mix, most shooters in game wow, nice lvl 1 creature, again immediate upgrade for range attack, gargoyles on the other hand are not so good but they are still very good in large numbers, gollems, also tanky fighters, can take alot of dmg because of passive that takes only 25% dmg from spells, another shooters, quite powerfull, genies excellent passive for saving the battle in crucial moment, nagas, oh my god, more than 10 of them is like battle won.. and THIRD shooters here with HUGE dmg like wow this town is awesome. + it has all the spells and the only town that has 2 level 5 spells available. A+
kohorta4ewer and the prize even for golems is high so getting those aren't easy, while another castle can get tons of early crossbow men with high damage, early eagles and knights and waste your large troops with a few magic casting monks "i call them that"
Yep yep, no arguments there. I always played Tower whenever I could. Solmyr was also my favourite hero to play. I especially liked his Expert Air Magic combined with Chain Lightning.
About the same time that I had and played this game as a kid, I was reading the Seventh Tower series(fantasy; I was about 10-12 at the time). This music was in my head the whole time I read.
When I started playing HoMM IV, it took me a while to realize which creatures were the best, because (except for the vampire lords) they usually weren't the same as the best creatures in HoMM III. For instance, the nagas are much less useful in H4 (it takes them ages to get to the enemy). On the other hand, the genies (who were AWFUL in H3) are some of the most powerful units in H4.
Probably the best town - very good monsters (3 throwing units), a lot of spells (Library, Dijni), good conditions to defend castle and possibilities of Grall:)
How can someone listen to this piece and not think of a giant city with wizard towers, flying contraptions, golem factories and arcane libraries, all covered in snow?
level 1: Centaur captains level 2: marksmen level 3: grand elves level 4: vampire lords level 5: mighty gorgons level 6: i cant decide between naga queens and death knights, but probably death knights level 7: arch devil's (with arch angels and black dragons a close second and third) Ive chosen my favourite list taking in to consideration balance. Id be quite happy fielding this as an army in a game. As long as i had loads of morale booster mind :D
This town seeks more resources than other. Its hardest play with it on impossible level,but has cool units.Solmyr & Dracon is the best heroes of this town.
My opinon of the best level monsters: Level 1: Centaur Captain. (Was thinking about Halberdiers.) Level 2: Marksman (Kind of. Magogs can suck because they can hit their allies??) Level 3: Evil Eye. (Could'nt think of anyone else.) Level 4: Crusader. (Just love them, they're kind of strong.) Level 5: Minotaur King (Thunderbirds are good, too. But I just love Minotaur Kings. Level 6: Death Knight. Level 7: Archangels. Sadly the Azure Dragon own everything. Tell me your opinions.
Making the tower my favourite town are first of all the LIBRARY assuming you, like me, don't use tricks to get preferred spells. Furthermore, three ranged units and the awesome naga queens! Also genie masters casting ability is great. Simply leave slow and/or weak units at home, and divide your genies into several stacks to buff your other creatures. Best of all though, tower has Solmyr, decimate entire armies with a single cast of chain lightning is just incredibly fun.
@lvsoad22 genies shouldn't be used in combat -divide into stacks and let them buff other units - let them attack only in rare circumstances. Imo, master genies are actually the best tier 5 combined with tower's other units. They allow being selective: for example, just gremlins, magi, naga, titans and 3 genie stacks backed by a good caster can own enemy armies with barely losing units. Of course, massing 7 strong unit stacks is great, but there is something to be said for quality over quantity.
My picks: L1:C. Captains (everyone seems to be unanimous here.) L2:Harpy Hags, if hero knows bless. L3:Grand Elves L4:Ogre Magi/Vamp. Lords. (Ogre Mages are stronger, but Vamp. Lords have that neat regen/no retaliation.) L5:Power Liches. L6:Dread Knights. L7:Black Dragons. Assuming hero knows bless, can cancel out bad morale, and also has pendant of life, or w/e it's called.
My picks 1. Blue Gremlins (shooting on 1lvl is more important then dmg for me) 2. Storm Elementals 3. Archigriffs 4. Vampire Lords 5. Mighty Gorgons 6. Nagas Queen/Dread Knights 7. Titans
yes i think ogre magi are a good shout. I often find that i end up with millions of them because they are so slow and tough. They are similar to dendroids in that respect (another powerful unit).
@XgamerXXX7 (continue) the best thing that makes towers a difference are their libraries. In homm3, Tier 4 magic Town Portal with expert earth magic= win. So, getting an additional magic is a huge benefit for player to own. that's my point. Sory about this long reply:)
Btw I'm not saying that the tower is the best, just that it suits my playing style most. I'm not a great player but I've become quite tactical and versatile with tower. Agreed on town portal, add fly and dimension door with high spell/movement points and you can truly be everywhere at the same time and do tons in one turn. That XXL dragon map is heaps of fun with a lvl 40+ caster with those spells ^^ Made me wish you could make the AI harder though. Insane is still incredibly easy :(
Best hero is if I can say it so myself Vidomina Cause a necromancer wins more often than any other hero. And always get's some of his/her soldiers back. Plus the excess of units made every week. 1.Skeletons 2.Zombies 3.Wraiths 4.Vampire 5.Liches 6.Dread Knights 7. Ghost Dragons And with the expansions I would choose this and play a map with the artifact Cloak of the undead king. which with expert necromancy skill grants you liches instead of skeletons.
yea i think id have to lump for dendroid soldiers, simply because they can as you say tie up a unit. I usually find there is one bastard stack of units in an army thats always tough to kill. And this is usually a quick unit that can annoy and destroy your ranged troops. This is when dendroids rock :D
@XgamerXXX7 u guys think that to: resources, what can u do if u don't find enough gems - for tower, or sulfur - for dungeon? both towns are great when u start on a moderate difficulty, but if u play on impossible, rampart is the best, and followed closely by stronghold and fortress (for all this 3 castles, the tier 5 mobs (rampart and stronghold) or 6 (fortress) can b build with few requirements (need tier 2 or 3 mobs witch need tier 1 mobs) and basic resources (wood &/or ore)
its never really about straight up battles. each town has utilization in their own way. i play tower a lot, and i know how to deal with them. for example, as a starter i can get early master gremlins and some gargoyles along with solmyr. its easy to capture some gold and resources even a gold mine with minimal casualties, very early. at the end of the day, you just have to use the town for everything its good for. not just the strength of the monsters

Yep. I'm not sure which I'd prefer, dendroid soldiers or ogre mages; mages have that useful bloodlust ability and are tougher, but dendroid soldiers are great for tying up flyers and other units. They both definitely have the same drawback.
Before I discoverd how good nacropolis can be in right hands, tower without aby doubt was my favourite town. 3 ranged units, heavy focus on magic part of "might and magic", argubably best mage guild. Sure, some units are a bit slow and fragile, and city itself is resoursce ( gems in particular ) expensive as F***, but man is it fun to play :). Well, not as much as nekro, but still lot of fun
Tower was my best town and Solmyr was my best hero I called him GOD haha. The tower is second strongest town...first is Castle. And for players that played this a lot knows that Tower OWNS Dungeon BIG TIME !!!
In dungeon it is Gunnar with logistics. In castle it maybe all heroes because castle town has stables(I like Sir Mullich with unit speed),my best heroes are Dessa,Kurre and Gunnar. I like play with all towns...i like this game. ;)
and for worst: level 1: familiars level 2: Lizardmen level 3: wights level 4: silver pegasi level 5: master genie's level 6: wyvern monarchs level 7: ghost dragons Again, id put zombies in at 2 but im making a rule that you have to have a ranged unit :D
My opinion of the worst: Level 1: Gremlin Level 2: Walking deads Level 3: Wights Level 4: Pegasi Level 5: Earth elementals Level 6: Scorpicores Level 7: Bone dragon But of course the peasants (or whatever they are called) are the worst xD
Titans was so expensive. Funny enough they better Melee fighters, than range. Ok, if you have the Golden Bow it's hole different story. Just an over all fantastic game! And there's nearly no bugs.

@XgamerXXX7 (continue) they are still easy to die. The point here is that Gargs and Master Genines are the fastest two creature in tower, however. it's hard to mass them. Plus, with the summon portal of dungeon, it's really easy to mass creatures for dungeon. u get doubled creature of tht tier/ week (if u go to the nest and summon them in the portal at same time.). Most importantly, Mana Vortex makes a huge difference when u r creeping mines at the begining. However, i also would like to say tht
That's what I thought too. The orchestra didn' t catch the essence of the old Masterpiece by missing parts or adding Chor and instrumental parts that might be new and creative but not as fitting. Eeven if the original is not todays quality sampling and mastering standard.
i think this town is very good apart from the resources you have to consume in order to get the high level creatures. The building for titans is way expensive IMO
It is actually a well known fact among competitive Heroes 3 players that Dungeon is better :P. It's mainly because of it's speed which tower lacks and the ability to lay down an effective siege because of it's many flying/ranged/fast units. You can't really compare only unit stats like that because there are many gameplay aspects you are not taking into consideration.

Fucking awesome music. Nostalgia. Why cant they just the the art of this game and improve on that? Such a shame.. Heroes 4, 5, and 6 are not Heroes games.
Actually, genies are great, especially in the beginning... Simply take some master gremlins and mages, nagas and titans if you can afford them... Don't use master genies for combat; just put them in a two or three stacks and use them to cast bonusses on your other units (special ability) Ow, and take solmyr for chain lightning ;) Makes the beginning easy as pie
@XgamerXXX7 alot of those are debateable especially the 7th tier going to the tower. I would say Conflux or dungeon on that one but w/e. There is no "BEST" faction on this game because it is so f****** balanced.
