Of course there's a ton of other stuff I forgot to fit in like cheats and flight training, but hopefully you can go find those bits out for yourself! SMOKE AWAY!
This has got to be the best Heroes of the Pacific video I've ever seen! you've brought back many fond memories of me playing this game and I wanna give a big thank you for re-opening those memories!!!
It was 2007 and I was walking through Best buy looking at Xbox games and spotted the the plane and thought it looked cool. Heros of the Pacific was the very first game I beat to 100% So I could unlock every crazy aircraft.
I still play it on Xbox It's truly a beautiful, well running late Xbox game I like the ki 102 b because of the unique 57mm cannon and the hilarious white green camo that I want to replicate in a model I used to fly the ki 102 B on scratch on flat top online, which was the mode where you had to sink the enemy carrier. I used it in a support/liason role between the high and low groups. Because the matches were limited to 6oz This game had a fairly decent community for a few years after it came out. There were clans, and digital remnants of them exist still throughout sub 100 view RU-vid channels to this day. I always enjoyed this game, and I always will. I always thought it was funny how the audio of the speech would be cut off the second you lost all your health Many times I would be killed mid sentence during an ace battle "That jet isn't your grandpa's b-" *BOOM*
Ngl i was expecting the Seafire to be number 1 (i would out of pure bias lol). It was this game that introduced Seafire Mk. 47/48 to me and left it living rent-free in my mind. As for my fav missions, I’d go with the Philippines missions, especially the Musashi level, and the Kido Butai level (and i guess the Catalina one too cus you can sink the Yamato several months too early).
Damage Inc Pacific Squadron’s version of the Kido Butai level is awesome. You actually get to bomb Zuikaku personally, as well as an additional 3 Light Carriers. (Damage Inc was released in 2012 and it’s pretty much a spiritual successor to Heroes of the Pacific. Some missions are similar to the original while some are modified or brand new. Most importantly, Damage Inc actually has the Corsair be somewhat competent, for it has the F4U-4 with the 4x 20mm Cannons.)
This video hit the spot man! This is THE game that got me into the Pacific Theater and WWII in general, and shaped my interests to this day. If you ever want to collaborate let me know, definitely interested in chatting! Edit- also my fav plane is the F4F Wildcat in the game and Wake Island missions hit different for some reason
Appreciate the comment! If you are on discord let me know! I saw a Wildcat for the first time in person at an airshow last month and it was incredible, likewise with the Bearcat
@@Pinstripe10 I have one, svgproductions, but also have an instagram that I use more! Reach out on either one. I just saw a wildcat flying in person for the first time a few months ago, wild!
this game was amazing as ww2 plane sim. sad to see it just ignored in 2024. hope some time in the future 2025 or so it gets remade for pc steam would be epic as hell.
I played Secret Weapons Over Normandy more than this at the time. I loved the story and atmosphere, but playing it again recently made me realise just how much worse the controls and everything were compared to Heroes. This is by far the better game. Might have to slap it on the ol' Steam Deck later...
