Love these wonderful accounts of these brave men that made our world we know all our life, only recently the young of today are not told what it was like.
My father arrived in Sicily with the Lorne Scots. They were assigned as HQ ground defense platoons, but were made up of well trained but " orphaned " soldiers with no home regiment. They were basically frontline replacements. My father was tagged as a replacement to an assault rifle company of The RCR before the HQ even got off the troopship. There he discovered his brother-in-law was a mortar-man in the weapons platoon.
"ALMOST EVER STRATEGIC TARGET WAS GIVEN TO THE CANADIANS". There was a reason for that. Canada got it done !! Hero's. Each and every man and woman who answered the call !!!
@ 06:30-06:32 there are 4 German Panzerwerfer-42's firing a salvo of 15cm rockets, very rare footage considering that only 300 of these were produced in all of WW2.
