Yeah, I very much agree here, the level of complexity is really good for wide accessibility and getting people to play. But compared to most simpler games the production and aesthetic can really bring up immersion and engagement. It is both a great gateway into tabletop gaming and always a fun game to return to and that it is in print again is great.
I played hero quest only once with a friend of mine who had it and while I was already into dungeons& dragons by that time there was still something so cool about how the mechanics and the production all came together. The father of one of my friends used to play it with some of his buddies and I always wanted to be invited to those games but never was. Now, with the rere release, I am getting to make up for that and introduce my child to it as well, and soon her cousin.
