Been remodeling for years now. I've always refused to take the time needed for a herringbone pattern install. Finally couldn't talk my way out of it to a customer. Turned to this video for advice and came out great. Takes much longer, but now I'm not afraid of it ha ha.

Nice job... unlike others commenting ... considering the cost of the tiles skipping those five tiles behind a mirror that NO ONE will ever see was a great cost cutting idea for people who watch this channel for renovation tips and tricks. Great job!!

Matt Barnard , the new owner sees it and we all see it. I also didn’t like his huge square hole for a 1/4 wide wire. Put a quick box on it and face plate. That’s an easy place for bugs to come in and out of. Between the missing tile, the offset tile by 2” and the hole, it doesn’t leave much for a mirror change.

Hey Jeff, I'm loving this channel. I found it a few months ago, coincidentally right before I moved to a house that needed a fair bit of renos. I learned so much from your videos and was able to do lots of drywall work, painting, and some moderate plumbing and electrical work myself. If I had a suggestion for a video, it would be how to install a fiberglass tub and surround. There really isn't much on RU-vid about that. The videos I found are either too short and gloss over everything, they're poor quality, or it's just a guy talking while holding the camera and not showing any actual work. Nothing out there gave me the confidence to do the job myself. I know fiberglass surrounds aren't as sexy as tile surrounds, but they're still a practical option for many home owners. Your videos are full of details and tips that matter when DIY folks encounter problems taking on new projects. Thanks again!

You might want to apply your grout a little dryer. You end up with small voids caused by air pockets due to your grout being to wet. As you spread your grout, you're pushing the moisture out of it, making it spread easier. The wetter the grout, the more air pockets you'll have.

I just closed on my house on Wednesday. My bf and I went in to assess what needed done and to clean the house before we began. We noticed mid-clean the kitchen cabinets are a little wonky. One is detaching from being pulled on or something, another two close but there's a gap between them, THEN under the sink is completely rotted from a leak the previous owners never fixed. Not sure why I just got into that just to say our bathroom is a complete redo and we're doing this design above our sink as well. Haha

Hi Jeff, I’m running into a situation tiling my kitchen backsplash. I’m using a sheet tile in a herringbone pattern. Problem is where the tile is going to meet in corner the walls are out of plum got a 19in spacing between lowers and upper cabinets not sure how much it’s going to show in such a short space, would changing the direction of tile placement make it better? Also can’t decide what wall to start on, do I make the kitchen sink the start wall or the stove wall? Both are centered in a L shaped kitchen. If you have any tips tricks and or videos I would appreciate it. You are the Man!!!

While watching the renovate a bathroom A to Z i see that you are using an edge guard at the edge of the tile that meets the painted wall, I'd like more info on the transition from tile to painted wall. should we buy a bull nose tile or are there other options to make it a profesional look? Love the channel and that you actually gave me a number to call if I really get stuck. Thanks in advance.

I did herringbone textured plank tile in my basement main floor. Some places I can tell the grout line is a little smaller than 1/8. Should I use sanded grout or unsanded? Which brand do you recommend as well? I did buy Tec Accucolor Sanded grout and some Tec boost but second guessing myself as this is the first time tiling and grouting. Thanks for all the help!
