A version of the tour without singing cows... I never thought I'd see the light of day.

This made me smile. I miss hearing the song at the end in it's entirety. Damn shame they took that from us with the current version.

I'm in tears. Memories flooding back to trips with my parents. I remember always going to Chocolate World first, and then driving up to the Hotel Hershey.

man, I'm not really the type to say all old things were good and whenever they changed it it got worse, but there's just something about the pre-2009 version of the tour ride that is missing these days.

I live in Hershey and have many fond childhood memories of going to Chocolate World and riding this version and its immediate successor. I'm 18, and now when I ride it, it's 8 minutes of my life I can never get back. So i agree, this version and the one immediately after were FAR better and are greatly missed!

I miss this version. The singing cows don't do much for me.

I still remember the song from the end of the ride. It's like the equviant of disney's " It's a small world". You can never get it out of your head for days.

Wow, this brings back memories. I remember waiting forever to go on this each time I went to HP. It's sad to see what they've done to it. I also find it a bit ironic there's next to no wait time for it anymore.

You're welcome! I was 3 when the video was shot (you can hear a little kid voice every now and then, that's me). My dad shot it with an old VHS video camera. We have other Hershey footage that I'd like to add eventually, including footage of Hersheypark's mini golf before it was removed.

I went on this ride as a child...I remember most of especially the chocolate river and the ovens was actually hot as you passed through...that was fun...thanks for posting

Neat to see that most of the same machines are still in there today. I understand why they've updated it over the years, but they lost me at the singing cows.

I miss this version so bad! I was down in Hershey last month at a Hershey Bears game and went on the ride, as you do when in Hershey. It's all different and I don't care for how drastic the change is. Worst part of the current rendition of the ride is that they no longer have the ultra fun to sing along to Hershey's Chocolate World theme song.

My family went to Hershey Park in either 1992 or 1993 as one of the stops on a road trip we took. My sister and I had the song stuck in our heads for the rest of the trip, since this was the last attraction we went on before we left the park.

I have videos of this version in its entirety from 1994 / 95. 1995 being the first year with the on-ride photo camera installed. I also have short clips of this version from 1989, 90 and 96 and full versions of the last version (1998) and the current version. IMO, I miss the version the most out of the last two updates. But I find the current version not to be bad at all. I like the cows, they make it fun! By the way, I'd LOVE to see the Hersheypark footage! You "must" get it up ASAP!! lol!

Yeah i did hear the kid in the background. :) I was overjoyed though after i listened to the song at the end, it took me awhile too to find this one cause i had to find out when the renovations occurred to get a video of before that. I also posted it on facebook so my family can hear it too they miss the old ride too. :)

I remember when there was a huge ship and a giant "dollhouse" at the shipping port. Even the animatronic guy pulling the donkey. That version of the ride was my favorite.

Just went yesterday after going when I was about 6. I'll never stop being mad they took the actual chocolate factory out.

I don't like the new version, WAY too much sensory. The old one was better, not as much singing cows. XD

I was there many years before you were born Brenden. In fact I was there in March 1981, and it was a lot differentt then the 1991 version.

Yes, I am a big fan, lol. I think I've seen some of your forum posts related to HP around the net. I've been going there every summer since 1989 (at which point I was 1 year old). I might be able to get the other footage up over the holiday break, it's good stuff.

I like the second one instead of the third version where there is too many cows. The second one only had a little bit of cows and the music was kinda better. This version is also good too

Okay, THIS is the version I remember from when I was a kid. i went here about once a year growing up. So, is the 70's looking computer console with all the blinking lights a left over remnant from the robot version? Looking at it now, it definately seems out of place with the rest of the ride, but I never questioned it as a kid. I never actually saw the robot version in person (as far as I remember) but I think I'd prefer that over the Cows. They're so annoying. Love that song at the end!!

@jc013 Yea, it's changed quite a bit, but there are still parts of the park that have remained themselves, like Comet Hollow and Minetown, which remind me of the good ol' days.

Hell yeah ! We used to ride it so many times in 86 and 87. Season passes at home and as a Milton Hershey School student. They went and screwed it up bad with the change. The new one is just horrifying and I refuse to take my kids. Fucking singing cows. We used to hop out and ride the rail. I got caught the first year thay put in cameras and got taken off the ride. Got a back stage tour on my way out. Man , my grandfather was pissed. My brother went into the test kitchen part.

Ahhhh the oven part scared me as a little kid. "What if we get stuck?"

I remember getting a free hershey bar after this ride. The oven part was soo hot.

takes me back! I miss all the shineyness of the ending. They won't bring it back though cuz it'd look too 80s for them but the ending of the new one is kinda anti climactic and the cows are horribly constructed sometimes.

By the way, this is as far back as I remember the ride, the first time of me riding it in 1989 during Candylane, although I was at Hersheypark once before that in 1986. I'm assuming you're a big Hershey fan like I am! lol! :)

I vaguely remember this version. I remember the version from the late 90s and early 2000s. The current singing cows is ok, but the older ones were better.

This video is I believe the third version of the tour. The first version had a "test kitchen" at the end and around 4:30 of this video it showed chocolate mixing not spinning lights. The second version of the tour (around 1988) was based on a space robot. The robot version of the ride was a lot worse the the current singing cows.

I wonder how many kids have jumped out cause they thought it was real. Also, I love how they boast that it was never touched by human hands. Lol

now I was a kid when the last time I was at Hershey park but all I remember is the part of the ride is where u went in the oven the one part that was hot with all the lights I could be wrong I don't know if someone see this please let me know on this thank you

Yes, education was replaced with entertainment. The tour is more modern now but not nearly as informative. Anyone remember the Test Kitchen they had at the end of the ride in the 1970s?
