I grew up in the Hershey area and went to the park often when I lived there. If the wind blew the right way we could smell the chocolate at my house. I moved to Maryland 20 years ago, it's grown and changed so much! The Comet was the only coaster back then until they put the Super Dooper Looper in when I was a teenager. The Hershey Pool was next to the park and the Ball Room was next to the pool, I was too young to experience dancing at the Ball Room, but I remember the building. There was no Chocolate World when I was a kid, the tour was in the factory. They gave everyone a Hershey Bar as you left. Fun memories!
You must have grown up in the 70's and 80's! I remember the same and have special memories with my father riding my first inverted coaster, Super Duper Looper! Thank you for your comment.
@@nicoleacosta5545 Yes, I was a teenager in the 70s and lived close enough to walk to the park then. It was a long walk, a couple miles, but I was young and didn't mind. I remember walking there in the morning and then had my mom pick me up when it got dark, such fun times!
Some random comments from a Hersheypark season pass holder (and also one who is losing weight so pays attention to test seats and the like). You didn't get to Jolly Rancher Remix, but their seats are pretty forgiving. It is an over the shoulder restraint, but it's not as restrictive as others are and if you can get the bottom part under your gut, it's good. The Skyview ride does not run when it's windy for some obvious reasons, but what you might not know is that they used to have two sky rides. They had that one which is a round trip ride in ski lift type vehicles. But there used to be another one that was one way, higher off the ground (much higher up, but also I was a kid so everything was higher up) and in enclosed type cages like the skyline at Disney World. The ride station towards the front of the park was the part where you saw the Chocolate Bar character standing greeting people. I don't remember where the further back ride station is. The train used to go through an old west style town facade and then you would stopped by a bandit who would rob the train until the sheriff came out and shot him. That actually kinda scared me as a kid, but they got rid of that, and then eventually even the old west facade was gone as they expanded the park more and more. But the biggest thing that you kinda noticed - they do have staffing issues. The staff they have are all great and I've never had an issue with a staff member being anything other than friendly and great, there's just not enough of them. You probably noticed when you drove there that it's really in the middle of nowhere - essentially a bunch of dairy farms because that was where Milton Hershey built his factory to get local milk. However, a lot of Philadelphians (myself included, although I'm more Philly suburbs) will drive the hour and a half to two hours to go to the park, but nobody is going to drive that far for a low wage park job. Oh and one other thing for the viewers - Skyrush is surprisingly forgiving. I still have a lot of weight to lose but Skyrush is the only coaster I can get on that isn't an older more tame coaster, or a family coaster, or a Disney coaster. Some keys are to sit on the outside wing seat, and then put your foot on the seat next to you and push up and get the bar under your stomach as much as possible and you're good. Oh, and also for the lightning racer coaster - I'm told that the coaster on the right (Lightning) is a bit more forgiving than the one on the left for bigger people. I'll probably think of something else after I hit send, but I'm glad you had fun
as someone from the hershey area (harrisburg) pretty much all of there workforce is highschoool and 8th graders. who come from my school (cdhs) and a local clacthic highschool. so becuae most of the workforce is 14-23. it can be an issue.
We’re Hersheypark season passholders, so this was a lot of fun to see you up here in PA. I grew up going to the park, and now I get to bring my little one (and hoping that she starts to enjoy coasters one of these days)! Also yes, before the park expansion, that covered area with the picnic tables now was where the carousel was. They moved it to the left of the front entrance, toward the left side of that Kisses fountain. Thanks for another fun video!
Another great video TPE!! Love your videos & love hearing your legitimate criticisms on everything it’s appreciated! We be paying these places LOTS of money and how else they gonna get better without saying so! 👏
Glad you came to our neck of the woods. I hope you and Koda had a great time here. We enjoy watching your Disney Alaskan Cuise video since we are preparing to go in May.
My wife is from northern PA and I'm from southeast Michigan. She's been to that park a ton and I'd never been before last year. We went together for the first time late last year and had a BLAST
Your girl runs marathons these rides are child’s play.😂😂 Glad to see y’all had a good day. Keep it up bro! Also I know those disappointments are rough, but your progress is showing, your face looks snatched.😂😂
Classic Hershey bar is my favorite. We are in Delaware but are season pass holders and love Hershey. You will have plan another trip so you can experience Dark Nights. It is a smaller HHN but we loved it!
Thank you for visiting and showing Hershey Park! Hope you and Koda are having an awesome time! This brings back so many memories. Every Easter weekend my family and I would go to Hershey and stay at the Hershey Lodge, go to Hershey World and the park. Looks like the Chocolatier restaurant is new, don’t remember that being there the last time we went and that was before the pandemic. My favorite is Kit Kat too! 😊
Great Bear during the Halloween haunt season is awesome! In the evening when the haunts are open, there is a layer of fog that Great Bear dives right into! And you're right, those hills are no joke!! :)
Mr. Goodbar is my fave! I haven't been to Hershey Park since high school and that was a loooog time ago. It really looks different from when I was last there. Thanks for taking us along!
It's been YEARS since I went to Hershey Park. Obviously there have been changes but I distinctly remember riding the chocolate dark ride where they show you how they make the chocolate and then they gave you a mini Hershey bar at the end. They have really expanded this park!
Being a person of a similar height and weight, I can tell you a few things . One if you couldn't fit on Great Bear you won't fit on Jolly Rancher Remix. Two you would wish that Skyrush kept the original restraints, they were a lot more forgiving. For example on the old restraints I could pull about an inch or two on the seat belt, now I need an inch to reach
A lot of workers at Hersheypark, such as myself are college students, and so they run only one train on some rides in the spring and fall due to understaffing. That's also why some rides are closed some days.
Welcome to my area of this world. Hershey park is so much much fun. I don’t fit in any ride either but I still love the park. Hope you got a lot of candy at chocolate world.
I haven’t been there in YEARS!!! My parents took me when I was little. If Lightening Racer was still around I think that’s the one that freaked me out. The intense wooden ride was not my during. Also I loveee Rolo’s as my favorite Hershey candy.
My mom’s family is from PA but it has been a long time since we have gone to the theme park but last time we were in PA we did hit up chocolate world. My favorite candy is for sure the cookies and cream candy bar!
Of course I go crazy in this park I love chocolate I grew up with it of course. But this Park seems new for me because I didn't know it existed I didn't know there a chocolate park until someone actually told me. I love that brown roller coaster there 😍 since that look like chocolate roller coaster. I was told you can make your own chocolate in this park? I hope to come here one-day. For me it will be like 8 hour since that means i live 8 hours away from this park.
Grew up in Hershey currently live in Texas and I’m missing the park and chocolate world lol! I liked Kit Kat bars are my favorite but I always said that the chocolate tasted better in Hershey than it does outside of pa. I’d that just me being weird I don’t know, but I’m happy watching the video and being like ohh Hershey I miss u
Wow it has been a long time since. I have been to the park, definitely lots of new things. But I still love my Sooper Dooper Looper. I did ride the Great Bear at night time that was scary. . And ys that area with the picnic table was a huge carousel.
I had went back to HP for the first time since I was like 10 and I had a rough time lol. It has gotten 10x bigger than it was years ago (I mean it has been 15 years) but I was not expecting it. I found it to be disorganized and everything is in all different directions. Food lines are absolutely insane. It’s a lot of walking (I wasn’t expecting hills)😅 on the flip side my daughter won a HUGE and I mean like giant rainbow octopus last minute before closing. So that was really nice.
As someone from MD this was my main childhood theme park when we couldn't do trips to Orlando, so glad to see you guys had fun!! Any plans to ever go to Kings Dominon or Carowinds?
Sorry all Americans, Hershey chocolate is the worse chocolate in the world. I’m in the UK and Cadbury chocolate is way better than Hershey. Great video anyway TPE
4:51 as a person who grew up going to Hershey yes there used to be a carousel there I’m pretty sure they removed when chocolate world opened if not please correct me
I’ve been here before, like a year ago, but technically not to the “park” portion. I did all the indoor activities like building my own chocolate bar, doing the indoor ride they have, learning the history of Hershey, etc. It was fun, I didn’t even know there was rides until halfway through the day when I saw a coaster😂 I got a picture with one of the characters though. I just love chocolate. Did you know, they (allegedly👀, learned this in one of my business classes, probably the ethics one) used/use child labor to harvest the cocoa? Even knowing this fact myself, it’s really hard to stay away from Hershey chocolate because they own the majority of candies that are sold in stores.
Thanks for posting this! You are one of the few park vloggers that ventures out of orlando and I appreciate that! Also you are obviously enjoying yourself which is nice!
We are season pass holders and live about 20 mins from the park and always makes us chuckle when we hear how people say Reese’s that aren’t from around here. Fun video though glad you got to up to the park.
Season passes for Hershey are reasonably priced. If you're going to the park at least 2 times, the season pass is worth it. I have the king size season pass. The water park is awesome. Hershey park is a great park. There's also a zoo at the far side of the park.
