I swear to god this is way better than having to sit in front of a screen for three hours listening to a boring lecture, with a not so skilled lecturer that can't get the point across as well as you do! So thank you for making these videos and putting all that effort into them, they're short, simple, colorful, get straight to the point, and on top of all of that... your explanations are pretty clear as well. Thank god I came across this channel, I now know from where I'm gonna be studying chem. for the rest of this year!

Or you can divide the first and third equations by 2 and you'll get the enthalpy of formation of NH3, CH4 and HCN. Then you can use ΔΗ= Σ ΔΗf(products) - Σ ΔΗf(reactants), anyway great explanation and video!

What would you do with the 1/2 H2 on the reactants side in 2:45? I know you added the h2s on the products side but isn't there a remaining H2 on the reactants that must cancel out?
@melissamaribel
@melissamaribel 6 лет назад
Opposite sides subtract so I would add the 3/2 H2 and 2 H2 together to get 3 1/2 H2 and then subtract the 1/2 H2 that was on the reactants side and this gives us the 3 H2 on the final answer.

ive been looking at different questions in which two elements in all four equations are the same, but when it comes to changing up the equations only one is required to change since we don't manipulate them if the element is in all equations. when I look at the answers to my homework though they show that the heat has changed for two equations not just one. I think i'm getting lost when it comes to having the same elements in all of the equations.
