When I started college in 1975, HP was smart enough to have HP-35s installed in math study room. That is when I learned RPN. I bought an HP-45 that I used throughout college. Now I have an HP-67 with working magnetic strip reader, HP11C, HP12C and several HP41 variants with their modules, and an HP Prime., I have owned HP42s, HP-48. You have a nice collection.

As impressive as these calculators were the manuals. Very clear and detailed explanations. ❤

All the engineering students look like a bunch of samurais, going from slide rule to HP 35 was a game changer.

This collection is a treasure. I got this video because I'm thinking about starting my collection and I've been looking at them. Personally, I only had the 42S at HP, and as an emulator it is the one I use on my smartphone. Successes Erix and may your collection continue to grow.

Thank you for your kind message! Indeed, I am a reseller of vintage tech and other collectables, but these are my private collection and I have the boxed calculators proudly on display in my office.

When I was in college in the 1970s, I bought an HP-25, which I lost (aaaaargh!!!) It was my favorite calculator ever. Still a college student, I bought a used HP-45 (minus the soft leather case) from a buddy, and for Christmas, my parents, rest their souls, bought me an HP-67, both of which I still have and use, although the card reader on the 67 froze up. Fast forward several decades, and a few years ago I bought the original style soft leather case for my old HP-45 off eBay. That was a mistake... I later bought another HP-45 in lovely condition WITH the original leather case, manuals, etc. I was good for a few years, then in the last month I bought 3 more HP-25s in decent shape and a lovely pre-release HP-21. An HP-35 is on its way as I type this. I never intended to become a collector, but... sigh! Thanks for the video, and especially for the insight on how to date these calculators!

This episode made me remember that by 1979-81 I did some vacation-time “job”, as Eng. Trainee customizing engineering programs on the HP34C Calc. and the HP-85 computer, both of them very sophisticated at that time, but an viable alternative to mainframe-rented runtime, for some Engineering offices being able to expedite more complex calculations.

I owned an HP 33 back in 1979 when I was in high school. The build quality was so awesome compared to the TI calculators with their noisy cheap keyboards 😂 Also I loved the RPN!

When I was in secondary school (1971-1976), our math teacher bought an HP45 and he taught us how to use it. Electronic calculators were still very rare then. When I was at the university, I bought an HP25 (which died already a long time ago). When I was working as an IT engineer (as of the mid eighties) I bought an HP20S, which I still use today !!!!

If those prices are the prices when they were introduced it may be informative to also show what that is in 2021 dollars.

Just look at the sold items on ebay. They seem to be drifting downward from a few years ago. The HP-42S seems to be an exception.

Amazing collection & well presented: but the background music is distracting, grating and completely unnecessary. Why must all RU-vidrs lather on copyright free muzak?!?!?!?

Thanks for the feedback. In recent videos I have reduced the music. Sorry to hear you didn’t like that aspect.
