Hexmag HX30 AR-15 Magazines 

They're great magazines!!! I abused the hell out of them and put a couple thousand rounds through 5 Hexmags. Not one hiccup. I highly recommend these mags. Absolutely amazing👍🏽

I tried these, had a few misfeeds, no issues with my PMags though. I'm returning the Hexmags and will buy more PMags.

For those of us in capacity constricted states they also offer 10/20 or 15/20 magazines. Kudos to a company finally reaching out to those markets!

Neat product and nice review, but there was something you forgot to mention. For those stuck in limited capacity states Hexmag also offers a set of factory spacers to 10/30 or 15/30.

Sootch, these mags are fantastic and seat/feed very well. I actually got mine for 9.99 at one of the major local gun shops near me. If you look on the Trop Gun youtube channel, those guys did a pretty insane torture test on them...very entertaining and reassuring.

Why would a new magazine company set up shop in a state that is anti-gun?

for range shooting, these are great. they are light, cheap, and reliable. my only problem i've had is they dont reliably hold the bolt open on the last shot (in my experiance). would i trust my life with them? probably not. for shooting at the range, i absolutely love them

Color-coding mags - great idea! Still, gonna be hard to unseat PMAGs from the top of the hill. But at $15.00 each, these seem like a great deal.

Zombie Green, Blackout, and Lava Red are the badass colors for these mags.

i have a maryland legal ar15 being built for me by a local gunstore. he's basically taking a palmetto state a2 rifle and putting a heavy barrel on it. in the meantime i was looking for maryland legal 10 round magazines, found these hexmags in a gunstore for $15. went home, opened the mag, and pulled the 10-round spacer right out and stretched the spring. then i stomped on it a few times and threw it around the house. looks solid

I thought (to my self) how could you improve P-Mags when I read the caption of this video...WOW! I was wrong...looks like a great product...love the texture and the ease of removing/replacing base plate colors...that option is very innovative...tks for the video...MAGPUL look out...their is a new kid on the block....

Great video Sootch, as always. It is good to see more options. Ya there are a lot of other poly mags out there, but I really like the color option. Looks like I may have to get a few, next payday.

Good pieces of kit like the handiness of the differing colours. Windows would be great too.

I bought a hex mag based on this review years ago. The feed lips have spread to the point where the feed lips barely squeeze into the mag well. Just tossed it in the trash yesterday.

Someday soon I'm gonna move outta NY and to America. Hope its still free when I get there!!!

So I was able to get in touch with hexmag today, I spoke to George, he said the point Is well taken and they are going to fix it ASAP. On a side note, I don't know if others complained to them but I had that response In less than 2 minutes, that is customer service!

I found them for $11.50 a piece a lil cheaper than the $13 window pmags I bought..... will try a couple out. I hope they make some for the Mini14 as well.

What I normally do with colored tape you coild also do with these mags. Using a standard loadout of 8 mags the first 4 mags you could have a green base the next 2 yellow and final 2 red. So you can monitor ammo levels and know when you reach 50 and 25% ammo left under stress. You pull the mags in order of color.

Just bought my first ar and went to buy another pmag and my gun shop was out of pmags. I saw a stand completely devoted to these "hexmags" and they were on sale for like 9 bucks so I decided I'd try one. Looking at videos for them I wished I'd have grabbed 2

Got to enjoy an extended shoot today and the Hexmags I had worked flawlessly. There really is no sense in paying more for a PMag. These work ever bit as well and if you can find them on sale, STOCK UP. I really would stake my life on these mags.

sootch00, I love your channel and your product reviews. With that said my comments are not to be construed as criticism towards you or your review of the Hexmag. I just thought it was important for me to share a few things I discovered about the Hexmag that some viewers, like me, might not like. I saw these on sale at GunMag Whse for $7.50, it was a loss leader sale to get them on the market and after I watched your video I got excited about the Hexmag. A mag that's comparable to the pmag for $7.50, I'll take it! Well, not so fast... My shiny new Hexmag's were delivered yesterday and I couldn't wait to get the package open and load one up. I immediately noticed a difference in the weight, its a bit lighter then the Pmag, not to say it's thinner or weaker, but it's differently lighter so I thought "well that's a plus". I pulled the spring out and compared it to my Gen M3 PMag, which BTW, is just as easy to open and they were pretty much the same on the inside. Now for the deal breakers. First, even with the fancy Hexagon patterning on the Hexmag it's slippery and that's dry, I can't imagine them being wet and trying to hold onto it. It's feels like cheap plastic vs. a quality polymer. The Pmag's on the other hand has an almost gritty feel to them which allows your hands to easily maintain a firm grip. Now for $7.50 I could have overlooked the slick feel of the Hexmag, however what I discovered next was the final straw. When I connected my StripLULA magazine loader to it I quickly discovered a flaw in the Hexmag design. It's missing the "spoon grooves" at the top rear of the magazine which allows the StripLULA,, and USGI Strippers, to firmly attach to the magazine. Without the grooves the StripLULA fails to securely attach and will jam each and every time you try to use it. I mailed them back for a refund today... Good new is, Primary Arms has 30 round Black PMag's on sale right now for $9.99 and you get a free hat with every order. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Great innovation, i love free market as you stated. I own 50/50 of magpuls and metal mags. These look like a great addition, but i probably won't be doing an outright replacement.

Magpul should move down here to Texas. We'd love having them :)

I just bought my first AR today and bought 2 Hexmags. I bought them for $10.50. I haven't used them yet but if they suck, who cares, they're so inexpensive I'm not worried about it.

I've seen a few of these around. Maybe I'll pick a few up one of these days.

The AR i purchased came with a hexmag and i couldn't be more disappointed in this product. It has an awful feel and catch into the bolt, closed or open! Takes excessive force to catch into the bolt and I bought a couple pmags just in case before i shot the rifle, i'm glad i did. pmag is smooth and catches like it should

I completely agree, as well as building a great product Magpul has forced all other manufacturers to step up their game, A simple test you can do with magazines is load them up than strip the rounds by hand, the force you encounter will be the force your rifle works against during operation, the polymer mags are very easy to strip the aluminum are hard and the steel is in between. This is not a determining factor for reliability just a test for one aspect.

Watching in 2017 and Mississippi is still the greatest state on gods green earth.. Rah!

So sootch00, when you did the 'roll-over' in your truck, the mag looked good but did you check any of the rounds and see if they were squished a bit??

I found these mags for $9.99/ea and just got them today. I am in the process of changing out the orange for the green (not for zombies) to put my green tip perpetrator rounds in. Looking forward to taking them to the range and see how they function.

I have an orange Hexmag No issues thus far.

Eight month old video but first time I'm watching it. Awesome review, very informational. I purchased a couple of these mags but I still love my Pmags. I like the color coding system on the Hexmag but the colors, together with the honeycomb design, makes them look like airsoft rifle mags. Anyhow, they're stout mags for little bucks. I will like to see the 10/20 version.

I like the look of these magazines, I just wish they wouldn't have set up shop in Colorado. I guess they picked up the people who didn't move out with Magpull.

Great review Sootch. My only negative thing I have to say about Hex Mag that may not be a negative. No ranger tabs yet. I am glad to see their another company that has produce quality looking magazines. Competition always brings the best out of any business. Great info as always.

Only place in Alaska that sells these is in Soldotna, Alaska. I live in Anchorage. Guess Im sticking with Magpul Pmags. Not thats a bad thing.

That magazine reminds me of the Crysis 3 weapons. lol. Wonder if Hexmag borrowed that idea.

I like the colors. I wonder if I have to coordinate my clothing to match the color of the magazine and be tacticool. To me all of this sounds ridiculous. But, to each his own. I like the infomercial from Hexmag, but definitely I stick with Magpul. Peace.

These mags are awesome

I bought 10 of these to use the color ID for my 300 BO. Only problem is these mags DO NOT WORK with 300 BO. They jam up due to the tabs inside the feed lips. Very disappointing. Switched to the clear & smoke Lancer L5AWM and have had ZERO issues with the Lancers.

I'm sold. i just wish they make a windowed version. gonna sell all my Pmags and get some of these. I can't decide on the Green or Red ones.

I'll consider those for when I get a .300 blackout. PMags for .223, Hex for .300 blackout.

I live in NY, with the ten round limit. They sell these magazines around here that are the full 30 round body, they just put a 10 round spring and stopper block inside of them. I have a few of these magazines, and have had no issues with them at all. They come in black, and gray plastic. The best part of them is if you live in a state like I do, and are forced into buying 10 round mags, all you would need to do is buy a spring for a 30 round magazine, and you can turn these into 30 round capacity easily. That is of coarse your state lifts the 10 round limit, and not to ignore the BS law that strips our rights. 😉

Would it be a problem to do the test where you run over the magazine in a truck but with an empty magazine instead? I wonder if the polymer magazines would survive that test. Thanks for a great review as always.

Another big selling point of the Hex Mag is they make a true 10/30 mag for those who live in a state who likes to make gun ownership difficult. Magpul does not.

I picked three up from Apex Gun Parts on the basis of this review. They seem A1 OK to me, so thinks for the pointer.

On the pmags I just paint the locking latch in the center. Problem solved, good review though
