1. Allow student loan debt to be cleared when you file bankruptcy. 2. No compounding interest. 3. STOP PROMOTING UNIVERSITIES.

I don't know if you can help current students much, but it can certainly be avoided for the kids growing up now with giving them a proper understanding of the financial commitment they're making and how long it'll take to pay off, break down how many hundreds to thousands they pay for just one session of a class, how much you pay for 1 week at college, it'll put it in perspective. Also teach them to be realistic about job choices, don't study hobbies because you want to self indulge or 'have fun' at college. To help, certain degrees shouldn't exist or at least need to have transparent degree-related employment stats and what they're likely to earn. I personally think capping the amount of students per degree based on job availability is really important. At my university the animation degree coordinator fought really hard to keep it to 30 students, instead of 400+ like most art degrees. The reasons were there was no way 400+ kids would be skilled enough to truly belong in the degree, let alone be of employable skill by the end. Then of course, the fact the industry just isn't that big so most students would graduate and never get related work. It's just not ethical. It's even happening now to law graduates, there's too many people graduating and not enough jobs. The universities/colleges need to make degrees more exclusive, super competitive to get into and with very limited student intake numbers. We need to teach kids and their parents not to be snobby and consider trade school, community college, or going straight to work, not everyone needs to go to university/college. This absolute fear that's been instilled into parents and their children about university/college being essential to employment/high wagers/better living standards is leading to horrendous decision with very expensive consequences. Unless that degree gets you a great job with a great wage, student loans aren't worth it. Really, the mere idea of taking out a loan that you don't currently have the capacity to pay back, relying only on wages from a job you may never get, is absolutely insane, so no wonders so many people are screwed.

Universities need to prove their degrees are getting students jobs. Students need to research and only go for degrees that have a *proven* high rate of employment. That's where we start to fix this.

If you try STEM and it doesn't work out, congradulations, you just wasted time and money. That's why me and my friends are in a pickle. We went into STEM due to pressure and now we're in college for 6 or 7 years.

@@fireballnephilium7426 brutal. For some courses in Canada( eg nursing) you have the option to start off in College then transfer credits to University. I'd recommend that option . Try it out in college where it's a helluva lot cheaper (here) then go to university when you know you like it and jobs are available. Other than that, try the trades. Big bucks in the trades for those that like it but hard to get apprenticeships . I would've thought STEM was a guaranteed job?

I only listened to this video about 7 times. I started to listen to it and had to run outside to do something on the spur of the moment. I couldnt hear all of it so i kept replaying it. @@russianbotfarm3036 Andrew Yang realize when automation hits job sectors like manufacturing and service, it's basically a point of no return because when companies discover the machines are cheaper and more efficient then they won't have to rely are the normal average person ( in which that would fuck up the job market for a good amount of years ), The UBI of $1,000 a month can be used for people to invest in their future, in other words don't be having jobs with good to great pay, it will less likely get automated, and they also have the passion at what they professionalize.

If you haven't got English by the time you finished high school, when are you ever going to get it? You need four more years of English? History and sociology are compromised by activists. You're better off learning that on your own. And how does that prepare you for any career outside the fast food industry? We need degrees in literature? Why? Psychology? You've obviously never taken a course in psychology. It doesn't prepare to do anything. If you really want to be a therapist go for it, but you're going to have to get a PhD.
