It's insane how excited I am. Tried to learn this a while ago but it just didn't sound right. I wish I had more friends who played guitar so I could tell them how INCREDIBLE this channel is.
Thanks, started to learn this a while ago but I couldn't get the rhythm of the picking right but this vid nails it. This and other tutorials of yours are so easy to follow. Thanks again.
I always feel a great sense of relief when I search a song guide on youtube and your channel pops up. Always thorough and incredible attention to detail. Thanks a bunch for your service my man!
The very first guitar tune I have ever played, not dominated or mastered that took me some years but, when I picked the guitar for the first time I said I want to play this shit and that was 20 years ago.
Incredible the way you break it down. Love it. Great sound, great lesson. Classic song. There are so many good tidbits here with technique, effects, etc. Well done!
Super awesome news!! Unique channel I think there's no one out there like you with tutorials from such good bands. As a huge Pixies fan, could you please consider "Monkey Gone To Heaven" as well? I absolutely love that tune and your teaching would fit it perfectly!
Great lesson. love the camera angle of the fretboard when demonstrating the song. I know you love your Fenders but that LP looks righteous when you hold it! Love your work.
Excellent video! F'ing love that song. I'm sure someone has already pointed this out but the Pixies nerd in me just won't let it go: Doolittle is the Pixies third album, not their second. :D
Extremely accurate sounding, well done! and that whaling slide on the last note of the solo is killer!!! I'm still trying to make a worthy helix patch for the tele sections but I'm limited to a PRS CE24 coil split with stock humbuckers that just don't seem to be right for it. If anyone has a decent patch for it do let me know!! Thanks again, SUBSCRIBED
Pixies got so much out of so little. Totally parsimonious playing, but with a huge sound. Thanks for the lesson- like a lot of folks here, this a favorite of mine. PS: Every time I see your white Strat, it makes me think of Michael Karoli of Can. Hint, hint.
Yes, I'm sure Michael Karoli was at the back of my mind when I decided I wanted a white Strat! Been toying with the idea of a Can lesson for a long time. It might happen. The difficulty is that their music is mostly all about the magical interaction between those 4 musicians rather than specific guitar parts. But I think there are a few tracks that might work as guitar lessons.
You are already amazing but it would be even more amazing if you touched on the songwriting a bit - you teased it here when you talked about if the chords started with the G or Bm. Maybe address why certain non diatonic chords might be in a song (just watched one of your Cramps lessons where I had to scratch my head over that for a while for example) etc. thanks 🙏
As always, I love your tututorials. I love your cats tails wagging in the background, as I sometimes use them as a Metronome :) This might be a bit out of character music wise, but would it be possible to show a tutorial on lead parts for Harper Valley PTA by Jeannie C. Riley? I"m not so worried about the sound, as I know its a dobro or something, as I may be able to get close with the katana amp and lead guitar. But I sincerely would appreciate it. Thank you :)
Ahh the Pixies! Gave a generation of shit guitarists the confidence to destroy shredding and concentrate on genius songwriting for a few years! Unfortunately they inspired a generation of shredders to write really shit songs!
