Its called head bobbing. Owls have a part of their brains most animals lack, they can move their heads to judge distance better. Humans use the eye separation of binocular vision to judge distances, owls extend that by bobbing their heads making the top and bottom of the movement similar to the separation of our eyes. In short, he was curious. You see it often in younger owls trying to build a model of the world. Also in hunting prey or before the owl takes off to a new perch. I love it, its very cute.
That's how I am with all birds. Australian army: AHH! Emu! Me: Ah! Baby! (though a bit on the large side) Cassoary: ROAR! Me: What an adorable death machine (real story) Me: WOW CHICKENS! Rooster: (Pecks my leg) Me: OWWW! So cute... Ooh my leg! Still one of my favourite birds! I think I also have this for non-avian dinosaurs. I think T-rexes and ankylosaurs are kinda cute. Really most theropods and the rest of the non-dinosaurs to a lesser degree. I used to love dinosaurs as a kid, then avian dinosaurs, now all of them. Speaking of ancient animals you should watch PBS Eons aandd thier vid on how dinos became birbs. And also watch PBS Space Time.
It’s like a cat with wings. Observing, curious, skilled hunter, gets fluffy when threatened and claws. Except the Owls got the head jive. Cats can’t match an Owl’s jive.
Cause some people see animals as biologically inferior to humans especially in terms of intelligence. This makes those idiots think that animals can be mistreated.
@@wiseguy240Winston wiseguy 26 I'm aware. I'd ask these people (and I often do) if it's ok to be cruel to someone with a developmental or cognitive disability, or someone with a closed head injury because they may not be as intelligent (what people perceive as intelligence). Another example: Pigs are smarter than dogs. Is it ok now to slaughter dogs mercilessly like we do pigs? Pigs are as smart as toddlers, so we should probably use some critical thinking when "ranking" living, feeling creatures based on intelligence or species and determining whether they deserve respect not. And there's different types of intelligence! We are inferior to other animals in countless ways...
@@1989kd I got absolutely no arguments with that. Us humans ain't so great, we still fight and hate each other over things as petty and trivial as skintone and race.
My sister rehabilitates injured wildlife (I'm a botanist and mostly work on food plants and habitat structural plants for them while they're at our house) and in my experience they're pretty smart and relaxed. We're not supposed to really socialize them as they are wild animals and will be returned to the wild, but I do feel like they know us and remember. Several of the owls she's nursed back to health return to our yard frequently. It wouldn't surprise me if, with proper socialization, these birds could become very attached to people like cats do.
So glad to see you practicing with him what comes natural to them. Too many wild animals in captivity aren't allowed to just be what they are, a wild animal with wild instincts.
Humans have wild instincts too: sexual urges are one of the most prominent, yet you won't see people being supportive and helping everyone "practice" what "comes naturally"
@Joel Gawne No one hinders you living your Sexual urges. Exept some religious people. But today you can Fuck how mutch you want, with who you want. Who is not "supporive" about sexual urges. Every Fetish is today socialy akcepted . No one juge you what sexual urges you practice. Gays are accepted, BDSM Studios are opend and when you like to have sex with mulitiple people, you go to a Swinger club. etc... So how you can think today that "(people are not supportive of sexual urges)" when in fakt they are (with exeptions). As long as you dont Hurt anyone (Rape or Phedophilia bad you hurting people) and do it with Concent of the other person. Everything is accepted socialy and legal. So WHO hinders you on living your Sexual Urges? So go out and LIVE your Sexual Insinkts. (When you want to do this) No one cares what your sexual urges are. Just find some people who want to practise thier sexual instincts withy you and Tada!! Tinder is a "SUPPORTIVE" thing too, to practie "what comes naturally"
@Joel Gwane Exept you, animals in Captivity cant decide to themselfs when they want to practize thier instincts. Humans (normaly) can do what they want moust of the Time. so no one must be supportive about your Urges and Instinks, because when you want you can do then when you want.
Do you think that maybe Garu, the owl, is being careful? The first posts were around 4 years ago and seems like Garu was a wee baby and grew up with the owner so much that his hold on his arm or feet is gentle? It's something my dog did, she would pretend bite. And even when she was super angry enough to lash out during accidents or when I was treating her painful infections, her jaw would slack the moment she caught us.. maybe they have a far better control
@@NovemberVenine I do believe the owl is being careful. Obviously. I have cats, I have experience with this too, y'know. But most falconers wear an arm guard anyways, because even when the bird is being careful (IF their bird is kind enough to do so,) it can still be painful and even dangerous if the bird slips up. Yes, they can be careful, but it's important to remember that their claws are so big and sharp that it can be painful anyways. But I do agree, this owl looks very careful!
@ 3:37 I said a hip hop the hippie the hippie To the hip hip hop and you don't stop The rock it to the bang bang boogie Say up jump the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat
The way your owl pet loves you is fascinating. I never knew owls could be tame and gentle. To see him in flight is mind blowing, the pillar of grace and beauty. What a lovely, georgeous creature.
I really enjoy your humorous videos of Garu 😁 I'd love to see Garu swoop down and pick up his toy in his talons and then keep flying, the way only a predator bird can do! I love raptors like Garu! 🕊️💕😁
