I know it's been so long since we saw each other last I'm sure we'll find some way to make the time pass Hey moon It's just you and me tonight everyone else is asleep Hey moon If I was to fall I would fall so deep Though I doubt I'm gonna, You can wake me up if you wanna And your pale, round face makes me feel at home in any place I would happen to be At a quarter past three The moon chased the sun out of the sky Goodbye sun the night's begun The moon chased the sun out of the sky Goodbye sunshine the night is mine Hey moon It's just you and me tonight everyone else is asleep Hey moon If I was to fall I would fall so deep Though I doubt I'm gonna, You can wake me up if you wanna I would hate for you to hang there alone The whole night through And I would love to spend the whole night Just looking at you And those seeds, little stars You spread around They make such a dramatic background I don't care for sunbeams No, I need the night to feed my dreams And that's why The moon chased the sun out of the sky Goodbye sun the night's begun The moon chased the sun out of the sky Goodbye sunshine the night is mine Hey moon My old friend Hey moon The night is coming to and end Hey moon Come back soon
Hey moon,it's been so long,.....I play this for my long gone pets I treasured in life.one of the most touching songs I've ever heard.i cry sometimes when I hear it.
Both the John Maus version and this version are great. I like how this one is clean, and has more lyrics, but I also love John's haunting and reverberated duet with her, and it has more synths to it.
I like the fact John Maus covered this, it's like he reflected the bright shining brilliance of Molly Nilsson as a moon might do a sun...This is crisper clearer brighter than the cover, his is more ethereal.
But the version of John Maus and together with molly nielson listen very very strange and like as to be forced so this without John Maus original is more better and simply molly nielson super songs that must be singed alone for lonely people and times of missed something to be loved, so thats the reason of why artists and actors are be create music and something else of their special feelings for this world so thank you molly nielson i like your music very well of and big greetings from the cow and friends team as me and myself for all the best moments we can share
update: molly nilsson's re-released "hey moon" to benefit black lives matter following john maus's attendance at the pro-trump rally that led to the insurgence of the us capitol. (2021)
Maus also went to the capital protest to protest cancel culture like its something new and people havent been getting ostracized for being assholes for generations already. And Ariel pink chooses to be a total asshole too and chases girls in their 20s while hes like pushing 40 . If these guys get cancelled its their own fault. I liked Johns Music but he should have done more. Be irreplacable or see yourself getting replaced and John is already unreplacable with his unique depressed sound so for him to go protest cancel culture is stupid. ITs all in his effing head and same with Ariel's limitless ego.
this song as with all truly great music in the world, holds time & space in a tiny little box & when you listen, you open it & are transported to the place you were when you first heard it.
the original best version of this beautyfull song great work molly nielson i like your music storys of the realty and memory of times about the lifes for the more of the closed door of but by the moon light of your songs will be all so very easy and lovefull delicious
"Ryokan, a Zen master, lived the simplest kind of life in a little hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening a thief visited the hut only to discover there was nothing to steal. Ryokan returned and caught him. "You have come a long way to visit me," he told the prowler, "and you should not return empty-handed. Please take my clothes as a gift." The thief was bewildered. He took the clothes and slunk away. Ryoken sat naked, watching the moon. "Poor fellow," he mused, "I wish I could have given him this beautiful moon."" :)
@@Al_Gore_Rhythmn Molly Nilsson's is way better. Actually, I think her version is just marginally better, as they're both great. Two vocalists and the extra layers are cool and all, but the sense of isolation and loneliness is not nearly so pronounced.
First i liked John Maus version better, but after a short time when I was listening to more and more music by this lady i started to prefer original "Hey Moon" more.
Came here via John Maus, but the intimacy of this version is turned up to eleven. Really wish I could have heard this version as well while I was staring at the sky and moon in Namibia. I'm going to (have to) check out Molly Nilsson :-)
#Lyrics Hey moon If i was to fall I won't fall so deep Though I doubt I'm gonna You can wake me up if you wanna And your pale round face Makes me feel at home in any place I would happen to be At a quarter past three The moon chased the sun out of the sky "Goodbye sun! you missed the beginning... "I know it's been so long since we saw each other last. I'm sure we'll find some way to make the time pass.Hey moon It's just you and me tonight, everyone else is asleep"

I think everyone should be able to appreciate both versions. The original is much cleaner and soothing while John Maus' version dueting with Molly is much more haunting and reverberated. I love both.
Damn i didn't know John Maus cover of this song was so damn lazy. It's the same song, just with Johns voice layered on top of Mollys and with some more synths and reverb, that really makes it a remix and not a cover.
It's even worse because he deleted some quite good sections too. There is some artistic merit to it being done as a duet, but I can feel real salty when I realize how little recognition Molly gets for this beautiful piece of music.
It's because it's a simple 4 chord arpeggio that just repeats throughout the whole song, so it's just a typical chord progression that is probably found in several other songs due to chance alone. Out of any 4 chords you can combine in any order, only a small subset of them are going to sound normal/good in a short loop that keeps repeating. I think the only time this isn't generally the case is in classical music as the melodies are much more complicated, drawn out, and less repetitive.
