I hate this game so much bruh. Music used in this video: Forest of hope - pikmin 1 Pikmin at play - Pikmin 4 Forest Navel - Pikmin 1 Valley of Repose - Pikmin 2 Wistful wilds - Pikmin 2 Todays results - Pikmin 1
Im pretty sure it's implied that all of the "mini races" are long distant decendants of humans, at least thats what ive heard from a different pikmin essay
I'll probably cover that in my eventual pikmin 4 video because that game confirmed that theory, but I was trying to speak of this game in the context of when it released
@@JGPanther26 the real disaster was pikmin 4 tbh imo. Still a great game but it dosent feel like pikmin while hey pikmin did, the atmosphere of hey pikmin is great imo and the music
I can tell you're a REAL Pikmin fan mainly because of your passion for the franchise, both love and anger, and NOT being that in-between middle ground like most people would do. Keep up the good work.
TL:DR Hey Pikmin was made by a studio mostly made of artists that were expected (and repeatedly expected given thier track record) to make an actual video game
The crumbug having smoky progg properties reminds me of how in smash ultimate, the VERY FIRST spirit you fight in the campaign mode is the Smoky Progg of all things. And it’s a 1 star difficulty spirit. The WEAKEST difficulty! For the SMOKY PROGG of all things! A SECRET SUPERBOSS gets 1 star treatment! Poor Progg.
@@rickmartinez3268 Well I didn't know it was gonna be bad when I bought it back in 2017, for all I knew it was just a new pikmin game, then I played it and it sucked.
Was Superstars poorly recieved? I thought it was more of a "its okay" recieved game Also, its probably more likely to say Nintendo is more at fault than Arzest. They're the ones who left Arzest in sole developer position after all.
How about Yoshi's New Island on 3DS game? It also plays as a 2D platforming game too is it not worth playing it as well as this game? I'm just saying when you a classic platforming game it might play the same as the old SNES game of the old Yoshi's island 🏝️ it depends on which one you like better the old game or the new one for the 3DS it's you're choice not to mention there was a Yoshi's Island DS which is a sequel to The first One but for the hey Pikmin sounds like a prequel can a sequel face all the other games combine to 1
Honestly I think its a cop out to be like "Well its nintendo's fault because they have XYZ responsibility for it" like I mean in a sense, but that's the *easy answer* you know?
I feel like keeping a timeline consistancy and giving depth to a fictional echosystem are two different things for the Pikmin Devs. Also, Pikmin are said to have a natural attraction to whistles. So i guess anyone with it can use Pikmin however they please, but it's neat they add in more to that, with the Pikmin 3 wall carvings.
Imagine trying to tell people that you have a new mexican wrestling tournament, and then when people show up it's just people playing darts in luchadore masks. You'd be charged with false advertising. And then when people walk out, you go "Oh, well, I guess since people don't want to watch two guys throw small sharp bits of metal at a target, that means no-one wants to watch acrobatic choreographed fights mixed with soap opera." And then you lay off a bunch of workers so you can be given millions of dollars in raises for your genius decisions. I hate media executives.
Hey Pikmin's flaw isn't that it had a different playstyle from other Pikmin games, its flaw is that it did it VERY POORLY. There is nothing wrong with a franchise branching out to other playstyles. Hey Pikmin may be a bad game, but its not a bad game just because it didn't follow the normal Pikmin formula.
oh yeah I totally agree. Pikmin has potential to work in 2D. But as I said in the video, this isn’t a Pikmin game, it fundamentally fails to make any interesting spin on the series and is just an amalgamation of parts.
I did really like the amiibo descriptions in this game ngl He wonders about Toad's head being a Hat or his Head and the Daisy one has him becoming melanholic about his Daughter growing up Definitely worth a read
I do enjoy Olimar's logs on the amiibo and treasures but beyond that I can't be bothered to play it ever again. I just occasionally wiki the logs anymore. I do like the pikmin amiibo though
this video is so well produced and written that when i saw the like count i was floored! then i saw the subscriber count and realized omg! youve god a bright future guy!!!!
well technically that’s part of a larger game so I can’t really count it as its own thing, HOWEVER, Pikmin adventure is a far more fleshed out and fun experience then hey Pikmin ever was and is the kind of spin off the series deserved
Me definitely not playing hey pikmin using an emulator on my android while waiting for an appointment or smth (I never touch the game ever again unless I’m in a scenario like that)
31:45 “ I AHcken hate this so “pull noise” much oh my HEYE YAAAAA I hate I AHHH I hate pikmin it’s so purrrrrr this AE E ER MM I e this WAH LE WAH SO AH I HATE THIS GAME ITS SO WAH E WAH ER I UNKEN HATE THIS GAME “electric shock noise” WA E LAA I hate it so much I HATE IT SO MUCH I hate it ITS SO BAD ITS SO BAD it’s AHHH WAAAAAA so AWWAWAAA bad” bro was spitting bars
I feel like Hey Pikmin has the same energy as modern pokemon. I'd like to love it, because I like the series, and the creature designs are cool and cute, and the OST is fire... But its freaking awful on every level.
As someone who played this as their first Pikmin game and then played the rest on the switch releases Yeah no this game is Good and goes A tier or Very high B tier for me
While I totally agree that the entire game taking place on a different planet was completely unnecessary and dumb, it could be easily explained that the ecosystems are so similar because thehumans brought their ecosystem to the other planet. But yeah that explanation would just be damage control for this unnecessary plot point, I dunno why they thought a different planet was needed if its not substantially different.
If there are 1 million hey pikmin fans, then a cloning machine has been invented. If there is 1 hey pikmin fan, its me. If there are no fans of this game, then I am dead. After all of that being said, even if I am the only fan of this game, I do agree it kinda sucks.
Canonically, in Pikmin 1, the Pikmin fight their lives for Olimar because of the symbiotic relationship they have. Olimar needs the Pikmin to survive, the Pikmin need Olimar to survive. By the end, the Pikmin learn to survive on their own thanks to Olimar's help. I think this symbiotic relationship and the themes of life, death, and rebirth are represented beautifully in the gameplay of Pikmin 1.
My reasons for disliking h*y pikmin: the pikmin 4 drought, the hope I had that it would be a good game and boring myself out of it and never finished it, the massive departure from the playstyle of the original games. I understand that the game is a spinoff 2D "playformer" but it just doesnt feel like a pikmin game.
the original title of the video was “hey Pikmin is a disaster in everyway” but I thought that would make it seem like I was calling the series bad so I changed it to “hey Pikmin: a complete disaster in everyway” to distinguish that the “hey” is apart of the title of the game I’m talking about
so I did not have watched the video yet (I am at 1:42) but I want to say that I liked the "hub" part of the game where you send Pikmin clean something because this part is for me what could be good Pikmin spin-off if it was more then just that (it had potential) (7:32) I want the video on the grubdog family *°^°* !
oh yeah I totally agree, in a vacuum the Pikmin park is really cool. It just doesn’t tie into the game that well unfortunately and feels generally pointless because of that.
My god..... I've seen a lot of Hey! Pikmin hate, but this tops it! Also, at the end of the game, It's revealed THAT THE ENTIRE GAME IS A DREAM/VISION given to Olimar by a strange force.... And the gameplay while different, Isn't even that bad. It's still a good little handheld adventure. And the S.S. Dolphin II is most likely just some extra ship he borrowed from the company. ...
I think I need a bit of a mental health break from bad games lmao. I’ve been making a lot of negative reviews as of late, it’d be nice to play something good 😅
@@JGPanther26 Fair! Have you played Kirby Mass Attack? It's not going to perfectly scratch the Pikmin itch but it's in the same vein imo. Also look up the criminally overlooked Eco Creatures: Save the Forest.
well sure, but it speaks in the same way as the company ship from pikmin 2, it shares a name with the dolphin which, while that is olimars ship, is owned by hocotate freight (see opening cutscene of pikmin 2) and it has a very similar function to the ships of hocotate, being the whole detachment of the ships top whereas other planets seem to develop individual scouting vessels seperate from the main ship (see pikmin 4 and 3) so its definitely a hocotate freight ship no doubt about it. So maybe it was just being loaned to olimar for the time being? It's still odd though because when would he have used this ship? Considering directly after pikmin 3 he was sent back in a scouting vessel to get the main comapny ship back and by the time we hit pikmin 4 he has bought back the dolphin. So maybe he was using like a rental ship while trying to get the money for the dolphin? But then why is it named the ss dolphin 2?
What do you think of Pikmin 4? Personally, though I like it and it has a good amount of content, it also has several problems of its own. Though every Pikmin game isn’t flawless, I think 4 is the most flawed and because of that, it’s my least favorite Pikmin game. Still an A tier game overall!
I personally love it, but yeah theres some weird design decisions that I don't like. But it's mostly an amazing game and overall probably the best, although I still prefer the original overall even if pikmin 4 is definitively better.
@@JGPanther26 My problem with Pikmin 4 are the unbalanced types, the lack of strategizing with a limited 3 Pikmin type restriction, the broken combat with Oatchi, the easier caves, the weird continuity of the story (not that big of a problem, but I honestly loved the story of Pikmin 1), the worst battle mode in the series (Pikmin 1 is the exception), and, worst of all, the auto-lock and worst control scheme of the whole series, which is not only a constant burden throughout the whole game, but the level design is often made worse because of it. I know it sounds like I hate this game, but I really don't. Just wanna explain my position.
@@nickk3077 no I totally agree. I feel like so many of the games problems could have just been solved by like… letting us use more then 3 types lmao. That’s my big issue
Personally I like Pikmin 4 the best. The biggest flaw in my eyes is the 3 pikmin type restriction, but the fact that a psudo pikmin 1 is built into the game is what makes it for me. Really, I think most of the games flaws are essentially *optional* if that makes any sense? Pikmin has always been a series that's about self-imposed goals (getting done within a faster time, 100%ing the items etc), just not as often self-imposed limitations, but the fact that self-imposed limitations exist I feel is kind of more of a benefit than a detriment. Have you done a zero Oatchi upgrades run? I havnt, but I have been wanting to since I first completed the game. Oh or you could do a zero flarlic run. Really, yes, the game is too easy due to a lack of balance, but you can kinda choose your difficulty by what you choose to collect.
@@Yipper64 ur totally right! I did a zero onion run for my second playthrough, as in you can't grow pikmin at all and can only use wild pikmin. I'm also currently working on a 7 pikmin run because that's the least amount you need to beat the game. I also think the sheer fact that pikmin types can be found in really any order you want makes the game feel so free.
@@yoshibutimterrariapixelart1923 this is a questions philosphers have been asking for decades. Very few theories backed in real scientifically proven evidence have come to light, in the words of Albert Einstien "peakmen advbutre"
Finished watching the video, I like your opinions, funny guy 👍 You've earnt a sub, keep being humourous, and keep being correct. I will beat you in Mario Chase, Nintendo Land
posting because you brought up theories of what happened to humanity in pikmin and I've been waiting for an excuse.... gonna smack it down low under a read more so its not clogging anything up, if you want to see my insane ramblings take a look. My personal theory is that pikmin takes place on earth (insane I know) BUT humans exist on a different spectrum of reality compared to the pikmin and all its species. My evidence for this is tied to the treasures, as well as the water wraith. In game it straight up suggests that the water wraith is a being that exists Between two dimensions, and the purple pikmin anchor it into One dimension so you can kill it. So running with the concept, why wouldn't all the other creatures follow suit? They all exist in their own "space" essentially, apart from where humans are. I tie the treasures into it because most of the treasures are things that could easily be lost. Ever drop something, swear you saw it fall, know right where it should be, but it just isn't there? congrats its in pikmin world now. The lack of food treasures rotting while seemingly having been buried underground or just left out could be explained away as either something with the transfer between spaces making them immune, or maybe just them being sent over recently enough for it to have not set in. stuff like the classic manhole cover peeking out under dirt, and even the clean clearly working house are somewhat more of a stretch. Maybe if something exists for long enough in one world it sort of imposes itself onto both? So something like a road could exist where it does in pikmin, but without anything removing the dirt and such on the pikmin side of reality it slowly gets taken over by nature. while something like a house is maintained enough on the human side to impose that working/clean state onto the pikmin side as well? (yeah this is where my theory starts kind of falling apart if you can't tell) It's barely put together but I've never been able to stand all the "oh humanity is fully dead and gone forever" theories because they always seem to ignore the still fresh food and working electronics your always finding. If humanity is fully gone and has been for long enough for strange new species to develop, then how the hell are we finding a fresh fried egg or a working gameboy advanced sp?
I LOVE THIS THEORY WHAT??? It's kinda like how the upside down works in stranger things where everything is a copy of anoher world but remians unaffected as time progresses. Or like things in the backrooms series "no-clipping" through reality. I did see a theory once that suggested that sparklium is some sort of pure concentrated nuclear energy which was made to keep items from wearing down. Like some sort of miracle product, hence why the treasures, the stuff containing sparklium, are completly fine while all the wild life has been mutated and have evolved in a weird way, most likely because of the nuclear radiation, this could also explain why enemy bodies contain a bit of sparklium. There's not really much evidence to back up the theory but it's another good way of explaining how things remain intact so far after humans are "gone" assuming they even are. I think the story could go either way really.
@@JGPanther26 well glad you enjoy it, its something that's been bothering me since i first started seeing people saying humanity was extinct or gone somehow in pikmin. I don't personally have much theory as to why the species of creature in pikmin are all so strange, having always personally chalked it up to just some sort of divergence long ago enough in their environments, but humanity somehow accidentally meddling and causing them can easily slot into my theory (and the theory your talking about with sparklium being some possible mutagenic factor) I really wish there was more talk about humanities presence in pikmin other then just "well you never see a human so obviously they are all dead who cares." when there's so many signs pointing to them still being around in some capacity
