My mother dated a man from Lebanon, he had immigrated to the US in the early 70s. This man had MANY Jewish friends as well as Christians. He talked about the beauty of his country all the time. I recall him crying when the bomb went off at the US embassy. He told me that he was watching the death of his home.
I was fortunate to visit Lebanon 1974. It was absolutely beautiful. I’ll never forget going into the Grotto and walking amongst the Cedar trees. The food was amazing. The beauty and aroma of Beirut, wow. People were all so friendly. I believe the population of Christians was more than stated in this video. It all started with the fall of the Shah of Iran, the rise of The Islamic Republic and the weakness of US President Jimmy Carter. The same weakness now in US government. The world is on the brink of WW3. Notice the similarities?
@@Cmon-Man You know what is really ironic? Every leader that hated the Jews more than carrying about his own people made the world a worse place. Jimmy Carter absolutely hated Jews. So does Obama and so do many in the 'democratic' government including its leaders. Jew hatred was what brought Hitler to power and consequently the worse man made catastrophe in modern history.
I was in Lebanon for five days back when Beirut was called the Riviera of the Eastern Mediterranean. Huge hotels dotted the coast around Beirut. Lebanon was very tourist friendly. The historical sites were easy to access. Tourists could travel throughout Lebanon without fear of any danger befalling them. Shop owners were actually fun to haggle with and their pricing was good for them and those visiting Lebanon. Sadly, none of that seems true today and it's all because of radical Islamists, who have hijacked Lebanon.
It's a bit sad that simply looking back in history (and not too far back) we know exactly what's going to happen to the West, but no one is going to stop it. We have lost the courage to protect not only what is ours, but what is objectively of great value to all mankind.
Its the Dubai in the 50's 60's and pre civil war 70's when Catholic Maronites were running it. Its the financial, economic, education, and research center of the Middle East
As Lebanese I can tell you Christian’s and Druze. Don’t want Hezbollah but every time a politician or journalist speak up he is killed. Lebanon is kidnapped
Antisemites will come out and be for whatever group is against the jews. They dont need to know anything, just tell them you are protesting jews right to a homeland and they are on board. Its so sad to see. They cry “genocide” when they dont question what happened to all the jews in muslim countries while gazans have been constantly increasing their population. They dont care about all the actual genocide in the name of islam that is currently happening in sudan, yemen, syria, etc.
You're wrong on the percentage of Christians. Lebanon used to be 80% Christian and was beautiful and peaceful and had a good size Jewish community and synagogues. My father had many Jewish friends growing up. The percentage of Christians now is unknown but probably somewhere around 35% of permanent residents and if you take into account people who are citizens and have homes there but do not live there all year, the number is closer to 60%
I'm a lebanese citizen living abroad (maronite christian) and only the region of Mount Lebanon (which gave idea to the foundation of a christian state from the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, after WWI) used to be 80% christian. And Mount Lebanon still is about 80% christian (the rest are mainly druze, and a few shia villages). But since Mount Lebanon has a small, rugged territory, and starvation was probably the biggest concern back then, the christian lebanese, backed by the french, aimed to expand it to neighbouring, more fertile areas, like Nabatieh, Tyre, Sidon, Tripoli and the Bekaa Valley, where christians were NOT the majority. Nevertheless, acorddingly the 1932 census (Lebanon became independent in 1943), christians were still the majority in Lebanon, around 55-60%. But since our emmigration rates were higher (especially during the Civil War), our birth rates lower, plus the influx of palestinian and syrian refugee waves, now we're around 35-40% (that's correct).
Danny Thomas came from Lebanon. Not long ago it was a nice place. I've never had any interest in travelling outside the U.S. I am confident I haven't missed anything.
You are missing so much. You must travel outside the US at least for 2 to 3 months just to see what the world is about. I am sorry to say this but Americans are very naive about the world and you may have been duped in the same way. You are welcome to come to New Zealand and i will buy you a cup of coffee. 😇
Uh Hezbollah ?? it was when they let the PLO in, just like Jordan.... Lebanon used to have a peaceful country where all people got along and no one was oppressed... it was clean and beautiful... now look at it...
Sixty minutes covered the three sided war in Lebanon........in the sixties. A few months later the guy they spent most of the interview with was very, very dead.
No-one was oppressed because the muslims were a minority. Every time they become the majority, they oppress non-muslims. Wouldn't you, if you followed the "one true religion," if you had a specific injunction from Allah (which just means "God") to oppress Jews, Christians, and any other unbelievers? Until such time as God/Allah comes down from the heavens to rewrite His own badly-written book (sarcasm intended), this is going to continue.
I'm an atheist and I don't believe that. Judep-Christian values built the society that allows guys like me to live in peace. I could not live like this in Gaza.
Lebanon was destroyed when he accepted Palestinians refugees in the 70'. KSA financed PLO to overthrow the Lebanese government ; you had a KSA diplomat gloating on how they destroyed the last crusader bastion in Levant . Iran jumped on the wagons financing and both Amal and Hizbullah. It is a strategy that both regime used to create failed states around them because their armies were built to protect the regime from their own people . They even tried this tactic in Europe until EU started a mass closure of islamic centers and mosques financed from both gulf nations and the iran regime .
Constant fighting ahd payback does make your country weak and nasty ...it doesnt matter which side is right ...the constant fighting makes both sides weak and nasty ..its sad
Remember our embassy in Beirut. Remember the 241 Marines killed by a truck bomb. Remember 9/11? You can point to one blue-on-blue AD all you want - but Islamist terrorists have been targeting and attacking westerners for DECADES. Maybe you don't care because you think they'll give you a pass. You will find out the hard way that you are wrong.
@@UltraTrev I love how people throw that around without ever verifying that it was an honest mistake. If he persists, I believe I shall say, "Remember Pat Tillman." Blue-on-blue is an unfortunate reality.
@@ozziecrosby2092 Let me guess: you think it was the Jews. Let me ask you: was Pat Tillman's unit manned entirely by Jew? Did they kill him too? Look, if your mind is made up and the doors of perception are slammed shut and locked, this conversation is pointless.
@@vxy357 I didn't choose to be faminine and being attracted to straight guys. My sexuality is like a woman. Living as a man like that is HELL for me. If you can't understand that then it is your problem
