Very Cool I like it. I'm putting rocket motors on the sides of mine.

Should have used angle iron and knotched it, then bolted it to the table on both sides to attach the cables. Then, you could easily unbolt and remove your table.

Put guide pins in one side of the plates to locate them on the frame !

need to fix a winch to my diy press made from riveted bridge side beam and 8 in channel iron for the table

Greetings from Australia, I have a similar press to this and I fitted a winch in the same position, I also extended the vertical posts and raised the top beam 10" to give more working height. I also drilled holes through the work table beams to slip the pins in the post holes and that stops the table from sliding sideways.

Aha! Great ideas. Now that i have a mag drill i could easily do that...did u have pin alignment problems with the table at various heights? I guess what I'm asking is did you drill holes exactly the size of the pins, or did you have to drill bigger holes in the table to make up for the vertical posts not being in perfect alignment?

Awesome info and mods. I'm collecting ideas for mine. Huge favor though, can you elaborate more on the angle you used to pick up the slop in the press, you used one inch angle on the under side. Thanks again.

Nice. I am going to steal some of the ideas for my HF 12 ton press. Getting the Swag 12ton brake shortly, on the way. I already have problems with raising and lowering it. Might see how much room I lose by doing the other way, simpler for me to just have one cable. Have you noticed any sagging while using the press now that it is on wheels? That kind of concerns me a bit. Thanks.

Do you mean does the horizontal angle supports where the wheels are attached bend or sag? That angle iron does look wimpy, but I haven't noticed that yet. I've made a couple more videos since this one, and I keep adding more stuff on it, and if I keep doing that it probably will sag. But I don't know if the angle iron they use for the foot support is the same for the 12 ton

Also check my newest vid, "HF 20 ton press mods - again!" i made a little shelf to hold the brake, it might work for yours too,and if you make one, please send me a video link I'd like to see it

Before seeing this video i used a strap winch n had someone sew a new loop in the middle and bolted the ends to the table ( i have the newer version )

You have to use two cables, with one cable the work table will not lift square.

The foot control and the other part you mentioned, what are they good for and where would one find them?
@anesthesiadreamin
@anesthesiadreamin 5 лет назад
Foot control just controls the air on and off to the air over hydraulic jack. so now you have two hands to hold your work piece and then you operate the Press with your foot. Sweet! I haven't looked around very much, but I found it several on Amazon. Just google "pneumatic foot switch"

apperantly u havent tried to press something that was requiring some serious presure. not saying it like that, dont take it that way. lol but my exsperiance was with u joints i used heat n everthing put with all fours not bolted down i put so much preasure on it the prees twisted left to right and front to back and then when the joint gave press was RACKED one side higher up than the other, and i could see this happening to someone not as lucky and getting hurt have it fly out of there

permanetly RACKED i put jacks in it to straiten it back out i suppose a guy could put sum supports in the corners weld um in keep this from happening but yea it was wild

Okay! I thought that's what you were saying with your first post, and I have yet to press anything that's taken a whole lot of force, or anything that sticks way out or is long and heavy. I'm glad you told me about this, I'm going to have to be really careful if I ever do anything like that. Or make the mod like you were saying 👍 Thanks for watching and for your advice

YOULL LEARN THE WHEELS ARE BAD IDEA WHEN YOU GO TO PRESS SOMTHING AND YOUR PRESS STARTS TWISTING, REASON ITS BOLTED TO THE FLOOR OR EVEN A PLATE THEN WHEELS
@anesthesiadreamin
@anesthesiadreamin 2 года назад
I know one of the limitations is if i have a long heavy item sticking way out could tip it over... but you are saying i need a flat steel plate to fasten the legs to, and this will keep the frame from twisting?
