>5dB of insertion loss for band pass filters? I think this is a problem for the receiver as well! Since the band pass filters are before your first amplification stage, the insertion loss translates directly into a corresponding increase in the receiver noise floor. Losses in the chain seem more significant in a transmitter than a receiver because they consume power and generate heat, but it's the overall path loss (transmitter A -> antenna A -> atmosphere -> antenna B -> receiver B) that determines whether or not you have a contact.

any way we could make it a 100 watt transceiver using a mrf 101? I would love it. This is one of the best series of its type. thank you.
