Hi all NLR have confirmed to me SU12 changed the way some of the telemetry data is used. Some may be having connection problems. A new beta is under test right now to correct these problems I was informed yesterday. Can’t get the software running? Problems connecting. Try this.. 1. Inside the HFS homepage, uncheck the "show installed" box 2. Navigate to the HFS Software settings and turn off "automatically detect current game”. 3. Close the HFS Software completely (including from the icon tray down the bottom right-hand side of the taskbar) 4. Start MSFS2020 and get into a flight using a default MSFS2020 aircraft 5. Once you are on the tarmac, start the HFS software from scratch and click on the MSFS2020 profile. Want to check out the review for the Xbox? @@roadcyclist1 Hi there, this is not true, the software will automatically detect the game regardless of version. The new update will address these issues (Version 1.1.2.7)
This sensory add on, which falls into the budget category, is great for both VR and 2D pilots. Pleasantly surprised and the HF8 will be a regular part of my flights in the future.
Thanks for reply. I’m multi monitor and can’t afford frames loss. I was enamoured by your reactions when using this seat pad. I totally get the sensory add-on you speak about. I am going to take the plunge and get one. Will let you know my thoughts. Thank you again for you great work on your simhanger channel. Alex
Thanks for your (as usual) excellent review. I've had a buttkicker since the early days of FS. Just ordered one, should get it Tuesday. Can't wait to see some of your profiles. Cheers, Steve
Thanks for all the hard work you put into this channel Mark. Like others - I placed an order for the HF8 largely based on your review. So far its performing quite well. It will be interesting to see how the software develops to get the most out of the hardware. Simshaker could be another option if I manage to get it going. Cheers
I just received mine yesterday and am still “setting up”. So far so good. Their software is limited a little and I have looked at Simshaker software for extra fine tuning… perhaps you could do a tutorial video on how to setup in MSFS…? Love your videos and you have made my Flightsim experiences so much better with Alpha, Bravo and VR etc etc tutorials. Thank you.
Sorry for the late reply, anyway thanks for all you`ve done. Yes the HF8 is like giving a Cat a bath :)) The Support back in Queensland is outstanding. I`ll wait until it matures a bit. All the best! Stef
Hi Mark, great report. I went ahead and bought this product ($226 in the US). It is indeed a big immersion add-on. After a while you start recognizing little subtle differences. Like when the plane is working harder in an ascend, or under stress. I'm also trying to nuance using the different motors at different intensities for specific effects, to get even more feel out of it. Here is one thing I would challenge NextLevel Racing with: Different feeling for type of ground to taxi on (asphalt, grass, dirt).
I took the pad apart and molded it into my sim chair. Now the chair looks and feels like a normal chair. You'd never know it has vibrators in it if it was turned off.
Thanks Mark, an excellent video and explanation/demonstration of a new feature bringing immersion to a another level. This one will definitely be on my bucket list!
Oh no! Just literally a day ago I was - after having to wait for so long - able to order my Velocity One Yoke..and thought this should be it.. Now I have to learn that the new "project" is just around the corner.. Oh well, guess I have to start saving money again.. 😉 Btw: thank you for this informative (and persuasive) video!! 👍
I don’t know, but would guess the feedback from the SRS unit would be more expansive and pronounced as it uses transducers etc. closer to the Buttkicker experience, the attraction of the NLR pad is its simplicity and just doing the basics well. 👍
This chair pad is very tempting to get. I like the way it looks as well. I wouldn't attach the control to my armrest as that is where I rest my arm but otherwise looks good.
The HF8 arrived today and the software is a bit hit and miss but I got it working. Your tip about closing it from the taskbar was invaluable, thank you! Unfortunately it doesn't work with the Astro One which I was really looking forward too and there is no real change in helicopters between idle and full collective, which is a shame. It's a lot of fun though and a great addition to my cockpit! Wonderful in the Spitfire but could do with more rumble at idle! (UPDATE - Use the Sim Shaker for Aviators software to get the most of your HF8 haptic pad, it is essential!!)
Enjoy watching yor channel. Thanks for the all experiences you share about fs2020. I bought mine few weeks back and enjoyimg it a lot. I have hooked it to my Xbox series S. Although i dont have much management of the actuators that the PC users have I still found it worth the few hundred bucks I spent. I also bought hdmi splitter box for it as i found HF8 to be more responsive than connecting direct to the audio output of the joystick or Xbox controller.
@@davewills6121I could not disagree more! Particularly in VR, the ButtKicker greatly enhances immersion (provided you spent some moments to set it up correctly with the SimShaker for Aviators add-in).
It's my birthday today and my new HF8 arrived. Spent the last hr trying to get it running. Finally managed, so thought I'd try in VR but No!!! Can't seem to get it working at mo in vr but I'll keep trying lol
@SimHangerFS I restarted my pc and the HF8 worked fine with the VR. My initial impressions weren't great but as I tweaked the settings I realised its actually pretty good. The flaps and landing gear actually feel like they are creating drag and slowing the aircraft :)
Most people believe the feel of acceleration, of being pressed into their seats, comes from being pushed back by an increase in gravity, when in fact it comes from the accelerating aircraft pushing forward. I believe it's what's called "false gravity." It looks as if the HP8 takes full advantage of it.
well you've sold it to me , I only have 2D but a 3 x 32" 4K monitor set up .But I think it be great for Flight Sim and Car Racing games. Now I just have to sell it to the wife . My setups growing all the time just glad I have done it piece by piece as it now costs more than my old car lol
From the time of your video when you quote approx £223 to my looking to buy one today, the price has increased to approx £268. Over £40, I think I'll wait. Didn't take them long to see an opportunity.
I also bought HF8 aweek ago and couldn't find good setup HF level. after I saw this i fly very realistic and enjoy it . thank you very very much for this information.
OK, for me, it's the Crystal! I pre-ordered back in Jan, so I hope I'm in the early delivery queue. Next, vid please run on a 30 series Nvidia card. Cheers!
Great video, as always! Keep up the great work. You're an inspiration. I think you should try this haptic pad with a full motion simulator. What a ride that would be.
Funny to see how SRS seems to be upping it's monthly number of Emails towards me for trying their product instead of this one. The HF8 haptic is certainly bringing some fire under their seats ;)
Hi Mark. I liked the video and it will be interesting to see your future updates using this haptic feedback seat. Maybe Jets and airliners? Also with a large amount of wind and turbulence? You should arrange a visit with Steve VR Flight Sim Guy, as he has a similar seat but using transducers (U-Shake Haptic feedback seat pad by Sim Racing Studio) He did a review of this on 15 Dec 2022 if you haven't seen it. It would be very interesting to see a review from someone who had tried both. The HF8 Haptic Feedback Seat Pad from NextLevel Racing is a lot cheaper than the Sim Racing Studio seat pad. Maybe you will follow him by buying a DOF Reality H2 FULL MOTION RIG, which he currently raves about. An extra felling and another step towards reality maybe?
I'm also curious to hear about the comparison results. Ahead of time though, I can say that simracer Karl Gosling did a (verbal) review on the HF8 and he was pretty underwhelmed, stating that the effects are laggy and less powerful compared to the transducer-based U-Shake6. I can imagine that effect lag plays a much bigger role when racing, compared to flying an airplane.
Just ordered it from Amazon! Gonna use it in conjunction with my transducers setup. When or if ever my Yaw2 arrives it will be a great enhancement for it. You’re costing me a fortune Mark lol! 😊
I have a ButtKicker and loved it! Have you tried the ButtKicker and HF8 together? I am thinking Hi Fidelity Sensory Input from the HF8 with the satisying thud of the BK. Great review especially for any BK owners - Thank you!
Hey Mark, thanks for the video, interesting. I tried a competitor's product, similar to this, I think it was from somewhere over in eastern Europe, it was a friend's who let me have a try. I have also tried Buttkicker. The issue I had with the 'seat pad' was that it felt like the movement was being transmitted directly to points on my body, where the Buttkicker shook the entire chair, which I thought was far more realistic and immersive. Interested in hearing your thoughts about my observation if you wouldn't mind.
Valid comments, the Buttkicker is a very direct device, which if anything can overdo the vibration effect. Modern aircraft don’t shake and rattle that much arguably. The seat pad is far more subdued and subtle.
I bought it and am disappointed by the fact that I find it impossible to find any profiles online downloadable or even profile images for MSFS or any aircraft profiles for the HF8 other than cars.
Can you imagine this along with a full motion seat (Yaw VR Pro, for example)? Either the immersion will be next level, or you will reach a point of diminishing returns.....(hopefully it would be the former).
Very informative and enjoyable video as always! Thanks, Mark. One question: have you tried to use the Haptic Seat Pad together with ButtKicker? I can imagine the two devices would work very well together: BK produces very credible engine vibrations and the kick at touchdown, and the Pad adds all those 3D sensations, as you called them…
Are you still pleased with the HF8? My Buttkicker amp has died on me and was thinking of getting one of these instead of an replacement amp. I loved your review of it.
Hi Mark, flown with you once before & very interested in this device. Excellent video for me. It's seems well worth buying? Slainte, Con. Thank You, Mark ❤
I have an important question, If I had to buy a yoke and throttle quadrant for the first time and not have to end up collecting different brands etc, which make/model would you recommend so I can get the best one on my first purchase? Your videos are absolutely top notch!
I’m curious, if this would work in tandem with my haptic headset? I’m probably going to order in the next 10 minutes it anyway though. 😂 thanks for the your review. This company needs to be paying you!🤣
Thanks, Mark, that's a great review! Liked your 'wows!' when stalling etc, as that clearly conveys the immersion. Still, I can imagine that the impact of the HF8 is a bit bigger on GA planes since those planes are smaller and noisier. Did you try business jets or airliners too? I am curious to hear about your experience with such planes.
That's highly appreciated Mark! I have the Butkicker too, but as you mentioned, that's quite noisy, especially when other people in the house want to sleep 😀
Great setup! I am a big fan of your videos. I am also a buttkicker user.. This is my first time seeing your very tidy sim-pit.. Question.. How do you use rudder pedals while sitting on a chair with castor wheels?
Literaly bought 2 these Dayton Audio BST-1 50 watts high power pro tactile bass shaker about 20 mins before your video went live. Do you thing the bass shaker and next level pad could compement each other? Or would there be a conflict of software?
I wish I had bought this originally. I have had a ButtKicker for the last year or so, and barely use it as I find it finicky and noisy. The HaptiConnect software I just bought was not worth the $30.
@@SimHangerFS The problem is that now I want the HF8 ...but my office chair is not a good match for it. So, watching this video is going to cause me to buy a new gaming chair and the HF8. You're going to send me to the poor house! 😉
Hi Mark, I just bought it since you suggested it here on the channel, great product, which gaming chair should we use for this as many others complaint the two front left and right virbators are uncomfortable on some chairs, mine included, so need to upgrade to a gaming chair which would fit this one perfectly so it can be resessed somehow into the chair and does not give too much pressure on your legs if you know what I mean :-) thanks as always for your great videos
Hi Mark great review as per usual😊 just one question obviously there's vibration but is there less vibration into the floor as such than the butkicker? Thanks again and well done..
Yes, it is the one thing I love about the pad, you feel the vibration but the noise level is next to nothing! If I am in my simpit no one can hear it 😊
Pico is a good choice if you have strong Wi-Fi and a powerful GPU only. Reverb G2 is also a strong contender. At the other end of the price scale is Varjo Aero and the soon to be released Pimax Crystal.
I play all the sims or at least I have but right now I am into GT7.......not so much MSFS as of lately. I wonder If NLR will make it compatible with PS5. Might be a good idea? Any thoughts?
This looks great! I have a ButtKicker but the cables and amp cause too much clutter for my set-up. Just looking at your VR frame rate it's so much smoother than mine (Virtual Desktop / Quest 3). Do you have any vids or recommendations for optimal MSFS settings for VR?
Excellent video Mark. Certainly will consider if it works in conjunction with the Buttkicker too. Are there presets that come with it, GA, airliner’s and helicopter etc. or have you had to programme it all? Thanks as always.
@@SimHangerFS thank you Mark. It worries me having to configure it. Of course I do have the application that I purchased for the Buttkicker. I’ll research a bit.
Great video as always, Sir. I have a buttkicker, but cannot use that much. Something with the setup not quite working for me. Do you think this is better? Also, what headset are you using?
