Sweet looking motors! I don't really see the point of these low weight explorer quads that are still over 250g though. I say if you are going over 250g then you might as well run a heavy quad that can carry a quality HD cam (gopro hero) for capturing long range flights or a have some good freestyle capabilities. Maybe I'm missing the point of this trend but just cruising for 20 minutes doesn't look nearly as fun.

Low weight just to try get best flight time. Basically just an easy to pack and carry long range quad so u don't have the huge 7". Fits inside bags.. but yeah doesn't freestyle well with so lil weight. And half the power of a freestyle 5"

Yeah, that's why I recommend going with the 3000kv motors and a lighter 4S battery to get under 250g.

@@AlbertKimTV Thanks Albert! I did see you mention that and if you are trying to get under 250g then go 4s. I think the deal for me is these 'explorer' type quads are really awesome for what they do but if I'm going over 3" its really nice to be able to carry a good quality AND durable action cam. But I love the flippy floppys and really only fly freestyle so I am not the target audience for these motors :) Slightly unrelated but what do you think of buying the 3000kv motors and motor/throttle scaling down for 5s or 6s for these motors. I have been really weary to try this instead of just buying appropriate kv motors but I've heard people touting buying the highest kv and scaling down instead. any thoughts?

Albert, I'm a 71 year old Canadian - retired Optician. Left the hobby in 1980 - Sailplane pilot. My daughter bought me a transmitter for Christmas. Can't afford drone. Have built a foam board airplane. Would like to go micro size or a shade bigger.Balsa and tissue. Would one of these motors with a 1s 220mah 45c work with this motor? Thanks for your help!

I feel this is maybe a good hybrid motor for freestyle and race and definitely cina maybe more around 1900kv or so but yah I like them gonna put them on my list but higher kv👌🏻

So you know me Al, I love your videos but you kind of gave no impression of this motor after flight. How did it actually perform? Did it feel powerful, spin up good? Where they snappy, smooth etc? I’m considering this for a 250g freestyle. What do you think? How about durability? I know that’s harder to comment if you haven’t flown them for long but what’s your opinion as of now? Thx bud !

If you're interested in performance, 2004 sized motors aren't going to satisfy most performance junkies. Even on a light 250g quad, the performance is mediocre compared to a full 5-inch setup with 2306 motors. This motor has good performance given it's weight compared to a 2306 but the 2306 will kill it everyday. Durability depends on the prop shaft size and bearing size. Most of the ones where those are not specified are the weakest ones. However, every crash is different. I've crashed into tree branches barely hitting anything on a $50 motor and have it snap the prop shaft and I've crashed a $10 motor into a parking lot with no damage. So it is hard to say how any motor will hold up until a lot more people start crashing them and there is more data to look at. IMO, the 2004 motor is best for 3-inch cinewhoops for nice controlled slow flying and on a 5-inch mainly for cruising around for long flight times. If I want a motor for freestyle, the 2004 motor is one of the last ones I would choose.

YES! I bought the Rekon 5 that has the 4s version of these motors on it and I am blown away by how good they feel. Extremely smooth, plenty of power, and I got 10 mins of flight time flying pretty aggressively with a 1500mah 4s battery. Most the time it just felt like I was flying a normal 4s 5 inch.

My motors all have a single threaded shaft and the prop hits retained by a single nut, the props on these type of motors do they just have screws that go straight into the bell to retain the prop?
