President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has challenged the people of Luapula province to take advantage of the water resources in the province to grow food throughout the year.
President HICHILEMA praised the people of Luapula province for increasing maize output in the last farming season but said the province can produce even more.
He says irrigation should become a reality in the province because of its abundant water resources.
He says the province has potential to be the food basket of the nation.
President HICHILEMA said this when he graced the Bwilile Traditional ceremony of the Bwile People of Luapula Province.
And Mr. HICHILEMA called on Chief Puta not to be alarmed at the mineral mapping taking place in the area as this is meant to determine the minerals the district is endowed with.
The President has further promised the people of Chienge that the Kashikishi - Chienge to Kaputa road will be worked on.
The Bwile Royal Establishment praised the government for the free education policy which has seen many children go back to school.
Senior Chief PUTA also said the expanded CDF has changed the lives of many communities across the country but called on the government to open up skills training schools in the area.
He also pleaded with the government to work on the road network in the district, especially the Chienge -Nchelenge road.
The traditional leader further urged the government to ensure that fertilizer is made available throughout the year to ensure more food production.
The ceremony was attended by over 30 Chiefs from across the country and 6 from the DRC.
