Fun fact: the devs confirmed on Twitter that Chai does "not have full function of his arm" at the beginning, which can be read as him having a proper disability, not a simple injury. This is actually a great reason for him to not know how to play guitar despite how bad he wants to be a rock star.
Hi-Fi Rush is such a passion product that even in Speed Runs, the runner is basically playing a very long form rhythm game having to do their dashes and skips on the beat.
It's crazy how Woolie, despite not being a speedrunner at all, gets named dropped during the run purely because he gets so hyped about parrying. And I'm all for it.

1:19:15 when I first played I didn’t notice that more breaks came up and the timer counted down again. And when it runs out it plays the normal death scene when you run out of health, this caused me to go “how did I die?” Because I was thinking “I could have sworn I had plenty of health” I ended up dying twice from this. And the last time I only had a few seconds left when I won, I played on medium.
Mimosa is the PR/Marketing head for Vandalay, so she’s definitely in on everything, but every time I see her I can’t help but go “omg slay” Her character design is so good
To add to the failing a skip and the running going EFF IT and trying something much riskier later on, 45:30 for the running cutting off attempts on a very hard skip and then 53:33 for him to try something crazier to make up for the lost time.
What a fantastic game and what a fantastic run! Loved playing this game and all the (lack of) hype from its shadow drop was such a treat for gamers. Great commentary from the couch as well!
You dont have to destroy all the arms, you can use the ability that returns damage when you parry. It is way, way slower though unless you are incredibly unlucky
Should've been more marketing to advertise the game, it's a very enjoyable game to play and even watch. Glad to see a speedrun not too long after release!
