Afro going from exited to having his self-esteem destroyed by basic rhythm mechanics in .5 seconds is the kind of quality content I expect form this channel.
The best description for this game is the one most people give: "it made me feel like I was a kid again for a bit" and I think that's what games should be. Sure some are anazing stories that make you reflect, but most should just be fun and alleviate the stress you carry all day
best advice for staying on beat. just dont focus on the beat, the rhythm of the music will come naturally, and soon enough you will fall into the rhythm, but if you still need that help, every level has a tempo, at the start of every level, just listen to the music, bob your head or tap your foot, usually thats enough to get you back into sync
Another tip that the game gives is to time your inputs on attack hits. As soon as an attack lands, press the input again and it’ll be on beat. Between encounters, you can also dash to find and stay in rhythm.
Still boggles my mind that this game came out of nowhere with the quality that it did. Wish more games these days could meet this level release quality.
Yea, I think you can good a grasp of the combat in about 2hrs. I also hop into the training room everytime I jump back into the game every few days before continuing the campaign. It's really satisfying when you can string together combos, your guitar adding to the beat, the crowd chanting your name, and the music getting more vocal 😎 This whole game is a vibe
It’s made by Tango Gameworks of Ghostwire Tokyo and Evil Within fame, also happens to be founded by the guy who created Resident Evil, If I remember correctly. Completely different direction and it’s honestly amazing. Glad to see you on this one, man 💯💯
If you do keep going with this game, Afro, I have a bit of info that may help you: Chai always attacks on beat, you don't have to worry about timing your basic attacks. All you need to worry about is timing your Beat Hits and a few other mechanics you run into later.
Also regarding the gameplay, don't stress out about being on Beat to the music. The game automatically syncs you up when you attack. You just get bonus Rewards for attacking on beat yourself. And regarding the beat hit at the end of a Combo, you'll know you've done it when you See some type of shock wave Or a special effect. Just play it normally like you would a DMC game. The beat will come naturally. For your light and heavy attacks, the easiest way to stay on the beat is every time you land an attack, that's when you press the attack button (light or heavy) again.
Too add to this, I also highly recommend giving the tutorial popups actual consideration. There are many tips and instructions that won't naturally occur to you. It seems as though you may have missed the instructions on the triple dash, and you also skipped the info on how enemies' stun gauges work.
Just a little tip my guy, chai ALWAYS hits on beat. So even if you mess up the timing on one attack you can catch yourself by attacking again as soon as your attack connects. Once you get the hang of the timing this game makes you feel amazing
I just beat this tonight and Afro! You’re gunna LOVE this game! EDIT: Also you can change the songs in the options menu for it to not be copyrighted, it’s under streamer mode I believe.
I absolutely loved this game. It felt refreshing. I just finished it and dear God it was fun. I'm so happy to see more people discovering it and liking it.
Never heard about it before, i was sceptic about it and I wasn't really interested. BUT WOW, how wrong was I!!!!! it is absolutely amazing! Love the Music, pls continue the series !
almost finished with this game. make sure to look at the challenges on the wall art of your base. theres a TON of currency you can earn. literally 100k+ for some game is a 10/10 the combat surprisingly has a ton of depth
Just played through this game yesterday and I was having a blast. It's very important to CHECK YOUR AUDIO LATENCY (you can do so in the starting menu of the game!). At the beginning it was very hard for me to hit the beat on the spot, but it turned out it was just the fault of my bluetooth soundbar all along... 🙉
At around 12:02 when he talks about what the indicator for hitting on beat is, its the music note that pops up over you. It happens when you actually hit on beat. One little trick when youre using your heavy(y) is to time based off the snap/clap he does after the first hit on beat. Its basically " 1 AND 2 AND 3..and so on. You hit one 1, wait on the AND, then hit again on the 2. Or think of it like, 1,2,3,4, and hit on the 1, then 3 when counting. For standard attack (x), its simply hitting every beat, 1234. Also with doing combos where you mix in hitting on the "off "beat. Its just so cool to see this implemented in a game like this. Ive been into music for years and actually play a couple instruments. Never thought a game would nail the timing aspect of music so well and honestly excites me to see others gradually learn and grasp that ability while playing. Itll help in real world experience aswell since youll have a better understanding of how music is played on timing, and how one could play with others who learn to play on beat with you on the fly.
I feel like Afro gonna drop this if it don’t do crazy views, but I don’t know how he can NOT play a rhythm anime? 2nd to last Boss is a monster. Worth the ride.
The last rhythm game I played was Patapon 1-3 from the PSP era. While playing this, I usually bob my head and body to the rhythm while playing to make it easier to time the beat. I know it sounds stupid, but I became more immersed to the game while doing it. I never had this much casual fun with a game before.
I can’t play this game but I’ve been itching to watch it but none of the RU-vidrs I watch have played it… UNTIL NOW BABYY!! Honestly really hope you stick with this game Afro, from what I’ve seen, it’s a lot of fun and I think you’re the guy to make it even better!
The best part about this game is that it doesn't punish you for being off-beat, but rather reward you for when you're on-beat. Like, your attacks will always land on-beat no matter when you press them, but they'll always land on-beat automatically. It feels more rewarding IMO, without alienating those who aren't so good with rhythm-mechanics.
So happy to see you playing this, it is a really fun game and it just makes you feel amazing when you get rated well and hit that BEAT Also the English VA for the main charcter voices Yosuke from persona 4, as well as Marth, Super man, Spider man PS4 and Sasuke Uchiha
I keep seeing people take a while to realize they're not doing the light combos correctly but instead on every two beats, even though the tutorial has them do it exactly right to progress. Goes to show that sometimes even mandatory tutorials aren't enough for some. Pretty funny though.
*Afro please see this game through you literally in for a treat and honestly you should bring the difficulty down to Normal with your history lol. I don’t recall you seeing DMC5 through so just put it on Normal and have a good time*
