@@FubukiTheIcyKing It ain’t even close with Sony, my guy. They don’t shut down studios and consistently release award winning games. Microsoft has only had one (1) game of the year nomination at the game awards in an entire decade. There will not be a new Xbox with the PS6.
@@rasengdori13I'm more talking Sony's decision to force PSN on PC games. Which will actually cut their potential sales by a bunch from people who can't make accounts.
Truly another titan falls to the idiotic spiral of terrible decisions lead by bad leadership and corporate greed with the lower ranked studios suffering for it
@@rasengdori13no ur wrong console streaming is one of the best things I’ve seen on Xbox. Plus their game pass blows ps5 out of the water. Best part is that if I feel like it I can pull up my phone and stream my Xbox to it. And I’m not talking game pass streaming. The last good game I enjoyed from ps was gravity rush. The rest were pretty trash or underwhelming like foamstars
One of the funny/upbeat game that shadowdropped early in 2023, taken out cause it devs wanted more staff for an sequel, SO.GLAD. people are hating microsoft/xbox decision to what they did to the ONLY game that even won them an award last year
And then they had the audacity to say that "We need more small games that gets awards like HiFi Rush". Like bro, you were getting a sequel of that very thing!
I really wish they didnt shut Tango down, just the 2D cutscenes alone make me want an animated series where each episode has a banger musical number like Phineas and Ferb
Most ppl who work on Hi fi rush leaves including the ceo of Tango Shinji Mikami after they finish the game so Microsoft being Microsoft shutdown the studio bc they saw no value of the studio anymore
A lot of those folks worked on Transformers Robots In Disguise 2015 if you want to see what that animation style looks like with absolute zero sauce from the writing team to back it up lol.
Kudos to you for being the first streamer/youtuber I've watched play this game that ACTUALLY HIT THE FIRST BOSS'S WEAK POINT LIKE GEEZ, NO ONE WANTS TO!!
It is unbelievably sad to see the IP of a game that criticises the deranged nature of big companies getting taken by a big company. This game is actually a peak piece of art, I really hope that the dev team figures their stuff out of these unfortunate circumstances
I wanted a shorter quote, but I will use someone else's snippet of a quote in context. Here the Detective is talking with Joyce on her yacht about the rebellious Cindy the Skull near the pier. Joyce: _Yes, you and I belong to the supraculture. We’re common, the herd. The music on the radio, the food in the chain restaurant -- those are all too popular for the girl in the old-lady rags. She prefers a fantasy world -- an infraculture with its own dress code and vernacular. It is an illusion, I’m afraid. There is no refuge from the supraculture._ Detective: _Okay, now explain the same thing -- but to a child._ Joyce: _I can’t. That’s how simple it is. One may dye their hair green and wear their grandma’s coat all they want. Capital has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself. Even those who would_ critique _capital end up_ reinforcing _it instead…_
Good to see this game being played in 2024! I don’t think Hi-Fi Rush is considered a failure by most peoples metrics. It’s just Microsoft being, well, Microsoft.
Aaron Greenburg (Vice President of Xbox Games Marketing) put out a tweet stating "Hi-Fi RUSH was a break out hit for us and our players in all key measurements and expectations. We couldn't be happier with what the team at Tango Gameworks delivered with this surprise release." late April last year, so *even by Microsoft's metrics*, it wasn't a failure either.
Looking forward to this VOD. 1:25:29 Gary as always, being the GOAT. Popping off about Corporate Hypocrisy, WHILE "Too Big To Fail" plays. Perfection. 3:01:15 HEAVENLY
honestly? the game didn't fail. it was a great hit that got zero advertizement beforehand. With the way microsoft behaved recently i can only chalk this one up to "we want to close that studio, but we let them release that one to get some money back before that." That might also be why there was no advertizement for the game, because they were already committed to closing the studio anyway so it actually didn't matter how successful this would have gotten, bottom line was to get some money before shutting it down.
Allegedly, per some insiders, it got closed because this game was successful, and they were pitching a sequel that would have required some additional staff/growth, which costs money. Which is such an ass backwards way of handling anything, but hey, we're pleasing the investors this quarter, even if we're shooting off next quarter's feet.
@@probablynoctis7872 And then, after closing tango they said, "We need more small games that gets awards like HiFi Rush". Even tho they were pitching a sequel.
Funnily enough, I had seen *some* advertising, but it was specifically at PAX Aus in 2023. The kicker here, though, is that it wasn't Microsoft promoting it. Yamaha, which I believe did the music for the game, was promoting it with a playable demo.
For those that see this. Hi-Fi Rush as of 6/1/2024 had grossed over $23million in the year and a half of it being released, with zero advertising until about 3-4 months AFTER it had been released, and it was the only Microsoft game to even be up for any game award in 2023, and was then technically a FAILURE because of Corporate Greed.
WRONG. It wasnt game fault. It was studio losing most of its core talent and inability to pull itself together. Company ceased to function and exist, before Microsoft pulled the plug.
Really does suck that this great game is never going to get a sequel because Microsoft felt like taking the developers out to please some investors since Starfield was a flop. Saddest thing is that still stands. All the expansions in the world couldn't stop Starfield from being mid because fundamentally it's only okay, and now other studios are being punished for that because their much smaller games couldn't make enough money to keep up with the amount Microsoft spent on Starfield.
About the licensed music, I'm pretty sure the game is designed with it in mind. It's definitely worth at least replaying the stages that have licensed tracks with streamer mode off for yourself. I think there was an interview somewhere where they say that the vision for the game always included the licensed tracks. Though, the original music is plenty good and memorable too. There's only one track I don't like, because I can't see it as anything but a pale imitation of its licensed counterpart. It's not a question of which is better, I think. Both soundtracks are worth hearing in context.
Both OSTs are great, as for the interview - Tango's JoJo gave a talk about their creative process and how the licensed tracks affected the game development - and if I recall correctly, the tracks came first and inspired their respective boss/level later, which is awesome :D
They do actually, not in a noticeable way tho. (Spoiler but not really) In stage 10 at the start (on the rooftop), if you look at the ad signs, you will see that they are currently searching for a new Production Head, since that position is vacant now.
I mean, Rekka tried to take you to suplex city, Zanzo overused his budget to kill you in style, tried to kill Korsica the moment she was useless, and Mimosa tried to kill you in front of a live audience.
It still feels wierd knowing that Robbie Damon, the voice of Akechi from Persona 5 and Hubert from Fire Emblem 3 Houses, voices the lovable goober Chai.
@@kjj26k yup. Everyone's favorite sinister pancake man is the goofball Chai. Well beyond the archetype of characters he typically does, but I'm sure he had a ball doing it anyway.
I imagine Chai being in Smash utilizing the songs played in stages for attack bonuses. Like make him a basic move set, but just like the game to benefit from attacking in rhythm of the song playing
All youtubers/streamers that i saw so far (Can count on one hand...) Don't use anything but the basic combo light and heavy combo i aplaud lythero for doing different combos, but its hard to watch someone play a rythim game and not seem bothered to even try Attacking on the beat...
The original OST for this game is amazing, in part because they bought the rights to sample and mix the licensed music they got for it, so both soundtracks maintain the same beat and are amazing, but the game original songs are lyrically more thematically on the nose for everything.
Yeah I think they also had to cover some of the licensed songs since they didn't really fit the vibe of the game. Wolfgang's 5th Symphony was sped up to match the game's bpm, Free Radicals lacked a back beat which made finding the beat a much harder task, and I don't know why they covered Fast As You Can but it works ig.
Its just me or the fist boss in this games looks like the fist boss in Ben 10 Protector of Earth? (I think a better way to say it would be that many games in the same genre as Hi-Fi Rush have a giant beast as the first boss)
Microsoft really shot this game and its studio in both legs and then said "i don't get how it didn't succeed" Despite the fact that it very much DID bang. Come the fuck on
ik u said you wouldnt make a vid on this game at the start, but tbh imo i think that it deserves it after Microsoft shafted the studio behind this peak
