Even better..... Instead of hitting the middle and edge of the symbol, create a little pendulum on your index finger where the stick rests and bounce the stick up and down on that. Each time the stick bounces up, catch it and bring it back down for another hit and....repeat.

@michaelinglis567
@michaelinglis567 Год назад
I was gonna say its Moeller but someone already did. You arent a drummer until you have a good moeller stroke/understanding.
@3toCoco
@3toCoco Год назад
Aye I was self taught for a long time but I just gotta put out there it’s only best until you get comfortable on your instrument and then you should get some kind of instruction. For me it was marching quads and it just opened my eyes to techniques I’d never even heard of and got me over plateaus of speed, creativity, and motivation. I respect the hell out of being self taught but everyone needs a mentor at some point. Keep on going man, you’re killing it
@ericcaires6423
@ericcaires6423 Год назад
Well that's your problem this technique is very important it sounds like you need to actually do some homework and learn the fundamentals and not just copy what you see on a RU-vid video lol so that way you have all the knowledge you create your own drum patterns and create your own sound I been a drummer for 42 years now hi hats is very important cause the hi hats is what keep tempo and patterns in tune

Defeating learning curve if you play an e-kit. It's either closed/mid closed/or open. If you SLAP the edge, it's just a closed hit but louder. 🙃 Damn I miss my acoustic set up.

For some reason my muscles do jot work that way, it's actually easier for me to play the same type of stroke with each hit. I just focus on staying lose, using any bit of rebound available and finger muscles in conjunction with my wrists.

Awesome! Shorts are great to get inspiration from, but 30 - 60 seconds is very hard to learn from. I'd suggest diving into a few elaborate lessons to help you guys. Have you seen Drumeo? They have some awesome lessons on their RU-vid channel, but the Drumeo Edge program is where you'll get the most. Here's a link to a 30-day free trial if you and your son are interested :) drumeo.pxf.io/c/3596229/1268414/14652

Haha it’s the Moeller technique here for sure. It just chases a lot of people away when they hear specific words, so I just broke it down in simple terms to get more reach for the video. (Which I’d just do for a short, and never and actual lesson)

It’s the moeller technique. When doing this, you alternate between playing with your wrist and with your arm, which is of course much more efficient than having either wrist or arm do all the work.

nice mnemonic but you're actually doing one hit with your whole arm and one by dropping your wrist after catching the rebound. The specific point doesn't really matter, it's about using different muscle groups.
