Jim wrote this in memory of his father. He said his dad would always get him out of scrapes etc. I’m a dad now, a grown man. 6ft and built like the side of a house. But I still remember my own dad in this same way and still need him all these years after his passing . Being a man can be hard. Everybody depends and looks to you to find the answers and make it right , but if you have nobody left to look up to anymore it can be a lonely place despite having a family . R.I.P Jim. What a song
I can relate to that. My father passed on last year. He was a Firefighter based in the East end of Glasgow and worked with Larry Diamond, Jim's dad. According to him, Larry was a fantastic guy and very well liked. He was very proud of his son's success and that feeling was shared by his friends and colleagues at the station 🚒
Me too 3 pm every day on freeview 20, a great wee programme and of a time when folk did not think greed was ok, even if the Yuppies did. The programme is even more charming now in 2017 in a time when greed has divided us. Rich against poor more so than even in Thatchers day.
As a young teenager I used to sit watch this on our 24 inch colour telly - our only telly back then. Nowadays it's 50-60 inchers and they're scattered all over the bloody house. Progress in technology for sure, but sadly not in content.
Im just watching the complete dvd series box set of Boon and still loving the theme tune and all these years later... RIP MICHAEL AND JIM ... Classic tv at its best .
@@Simon1985_ everyday is a struggle lovely, honestly it's the worst thing that could ever happen hun. I've lost my husband too and losing mum was so much worse.. I know that sounds awful doesn't it. Awww I hope not my darlin xxx
Yeah. I go back and revisit it from time to time. I caught this show in my 60s, just looking for something decent to watch. Loved the show, really love the theme song.
I bought the complete box set some years back. Sat here right now watching them all. Such a brilliant drama. Wish they had carried on making them after the 7th series!!!
Awesome theme tune, they used to film this in Ilkeston where I live, we used to go and watch on the market place during school dinner break, the cinema is our local, scala at Ilkeston! Xx
@@martinwalsh2960 Chronic alcoholism sadly contributed to his death of a heart attack, his condition was in part to losing his partner and mother of his only daughter from Cancer in 1996. The bosses at Eastenders wrote him out quickly because of his addiction, which was causing problems. Its a real shame that he pretty much killed himself due to long term grief.

A very good friend would often rent Michael Elphick's holiday home in Portugal. Michael's daughter would handle the booking & she constantly worried about her father's battle with the bottle. RIP Michael Elphick & Jim Diamond.
Just found BOON series by accident and love the theme song. But I don't get how this guy can sound like Bonnie Tyler mixed with an African American I can't think of her name but sang in 80s? There's a tiny bit of Tina Turner flair in there too to make it hot and spicy!!! Either way, I'll never know how I missed this one!!! Thanks for sharing. L :)
