welcome to the RENegades Ren was misdiagnosed for 10 years, they thought he had bipolar but he really had Lyme Disease. So while he got treated for something he didn't have what he did have was doing a ton of mental and physical damage. His record deal fell though since he was sick. Thankfully Ren is Canada right now getting treatment and he is doing much much better. Since this song dropped he has gone number 1 in the UK (almost impossible for an independent artist) fulfilling his childhood dream There is a heartbreaking video of Ren in 2015 sitting on his bed crying, begging to live, begging for the pain to stop.. and now hes on top of the world

And that's so crazy, somehow Ren can put the trouble we all have into words that fit for everybody. Somewhere I saw some comment like this: "Ren, how did you get into my head to say the things I haven't found words for in years?" So true. "I'm not going to [tear up]". I still tear up every time I hear this song. And I'm listening to it for over a year now. It's so okay to get emotional, especially to good touching music. And that's what I love about the RENegates. We are here for each other. We cry together, we (virtually) hug each other, we care for each other and we spread love to everybody who needs it. ❤🫂 I can just say "Thank you Ren". Possibly no coincidence: Ren played a cover of "Sympathy for the devil" with his former band The Big Push (which opens the next rabbit hole). Here is some brief information about Ren: Ren Eryn Gill was born in Wales in 1990 and grew up in Brighton. He studied music performance at Bath Spa University. In 2009 he became seriously ill and had difficulty attending lectures. In 2010, he was signed to Sony Records. However, as his health continued to deteriorate, he had to terminate the contract. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led to him suffering from psychosis. It was not until seven years later that a doctor in Belgium finally diagnosed him with autoimmunity and Lyme disease, which led to brain, organ and joint damage as well as PTSD. After stem cell therapy in the United States, his health improved considerably. However, he continues to suffer greatly from his illnesses. For about a year (I think) he is undergoing treatment in Canada. In October 2023, his album "Sick Boi" was number one in the British album charts. If you want a Ren rap flex song check out "The Hunger", for a fun song I'd suggest "Losin It" and/or "Animal Flow". His trilogy "The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)" shows his Bardcore story telling ability. The song that hit me the hardest and I can completely relate to is "Chalk Outlines" as it covers a time in my life that I couldn't really explain well to others but he does so beautifully. It also happens to be a collab video with an artist by the name of Chinchilla. I'm a 50 year old guy that is grateful to have found Ren. I'd lost interest in music as most has become cookie cutter copies that only care about hitting the charts. I'd dropped listening to rap back in the early 90's but I thoroughly enjoy Ren's rap (and can understand the lyrics).

You get it man. I saw your expressions, I saw the way you closed your eyes, and held you hands when Ren threw "Some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope" line at us. That was never a way that my brain tried to delete me, but I still feel a phantom noose every time I hear that line. I spent more than 30 years fighting the urge to unalive myself until I gave up fighting myself, relaxed, stepped back a bit, and took a new path. It's not perfect, but it's easier, and I haven't had those thoughts for over 5 years now. Great reaction, and I'm glad you came back from the darker place and realised that you have to accept both sides, and figure out how to make them dance together. ❤

Renegade here, catching up to the newer reactors to Ren. When it comes to Ren we enjoy you reacting to his oldest tracks as well as his newest ones, so never limit yourself. For about 18mos Ren has been producing his music from hospital/clinic 5days average treatments each week. With pinches of time off for good results. Now that he is released with random checkups in the future he will be producing much more. His Sick Boi album dropped last October. Adding to the many other appropriate recommendations you will no doubt receive, I would suggest the following: For a true taste of Ren's storytelling prowess, "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" is a must...(one for the hallowed archives of musical/video art)...for a broader view, I would encourage you to check out "Power," "The Hunger," "Genesis," the "Money Game" trilogy, (and all the rest of course). Then there are his collaborations with his band, "The Big Push", numerous other artists (don't miss the "Back on 74/Message in the Bottle" retake)....And one of the other surprising gems you will meet, Chinchilla...their duets in "Chalk Outlines," "How to Be Me" as well as the live busking vids "Sexual Healing" and "One Dance/Drunk In Love" are musts to be slated in at some point in the future....(Chinchilla's solo catalog is also deep and stunning, but more on that later) Simply want to welcome you to a world of new insight and positive friends!!!
